The Silver Cloud Hotel in Portland garners praise for its spotless rooms and public spaces, with guests appreciating the added touch of quality Aveda products. Many find the hotel's atmosphere tranquil, offering a quiet retreat with spacious and comfortable rooms, despite some dated decor. The hotel's value is a highlight, with guests equating their stay to a luxury experience at a fraction of the cost. Its prime location is a boon, with easy access to local dining and shopping, enhanced by a convenient shuttle service.
Service at the hotel is top-notch, with a friendly staff that's quick to respond to guests' needs. While the rooms are tranquil and well-kept, a few guests note the need for updated furnishings. The range of amenities, including complimentary parking and a highly regarded on-site restaurant, add to the hotel's appeal.

Hotel's Favourite
Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff were helpful, laid back, and always available. Aveda products for the bathroom were a great touch! Also, the late check out at noon worked great for us since we’re catching the afternoon Amtrak train. Excellent location in the charming NW district. Safe area to walk around in. The hotel is within walking distance to the wide variety of shops and restaurants on 23rd. We even walked to the Forest park to check out the amazing nature and trail network. We stayed here on a past trip with a car and it was easy to drive places as well. Transit is very close to the hotel as well. We did try the new on site restaurant for breakfast, it was excellent too.

This has been my favorite Portland Motel since it was first built.
Location is ideal, right off the freeway off ramp on Vaughn St. and walking distance to several good restaurants, driving distance to many more and all attractions. Two blocks to NW 23, the happening street with lots of cool shops and restaurants . Covered free parking close to entrance is a valuable convenience.
The rooms are starting to show their age but prices are reasonable and front desk is cheerful and helpful.
They remodeled the room formerly serving free breakfast and made it into a bar and restaurant. The menu is pretty good and service is adequate if you don't want to leave hotel for several good neighborhood restaurants.
I found my handicap room to be adequate but poorly designed for someone who is really handicapped. Slippery bathroom floor and grab bars placed too far apart. Bath requires a step over bathtub so no chance for someone in a wheelchair to bathe. It is slightly more accessible than standard rooms.
I came back from an outing to nap in afternoon and room had not been cleaned until they nocked on door at 3:30 pm.
I recommend getting rooms on the back side of motel, less street noise.

Stayed here for New Years Eve and I really liked this hotel. The location is on the edge of a great neighborhood and just a block away from fabulous coffee shop (Dragonfly Coffee) and some rally good restaurants. So very walkable. There is attached covered parking available for free and the hotel is located close to the highway. If you are taking public transportation, there is a bus stop located directly at the hotel. The room is very spacious and quiet and I especially loved the huge tv. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Portland.

Second stay in a year but since remodel and covid, not good service. No breakfast included, no room clean between nights, noisy fridge in room, front door locked so must be buzzed in but no one at desk to let us in or answer desk phone. Very annoying experience. I asked for consideration for all of the above and nothing. Will stay at Holiday Inn Express next time half a block away. Breakfast inc and treat you in a welcoming manner.
Burnt toast smell three floors up from fancy new kitchen but maybe hire a cook that can cook. Hotel was better before the remodel.

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel, nice clean room and enjoyed the breakfast in their newly renovated dining area. Omlette was large and delicious, my husband had dutch pancakes which he really enjoyed too. Well done chef! Friendly waiter gave excellent service.
We liked the location, bus stop right out front for transportation to downtown, Also was within walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants. We will be back.

Our family just finished a quick trip to Portland with a 2 night stay here (wish it was longer). The beds were very very comfortable (we generally prefer beds that are firm but these were great), linens smelled clean and fresh (and not like bleach), rooms were very clean and well appointed, bathrooms also very clean, no mould, excellent working order. Free parking was much appreciated but best of all was the location: safe, walkable, great amenities nearby (cafe, restaurants, organic grocery store, and a quick 10-block walk to the tram to get downtown to Powells Books!) loved our stay, highly recommend.

In town on business during TG week. My employer booked the hotel and I was excited about the fact that the rest. in their lobby was serving a TG dinner for an additional $40.
Arrived at the hotel after work. No one at the front desk. Waited for 30 mi . Eventually a man came out and was rude before I could get a word out. I did not complain for fear of being kicked out.
The room was a disappointment - not in the least bit cheerful.
Since the rest. was closing early ( 7pm) due to the holiday I went down to retrieve my meal. It was the worst meal I have ever had in my life.. It was a turkey roll made up of fat and gristle, the part of the turkey you throw away. It was literally not edible. It came with a little Greek salad which was good but the main meal, which consisted of a turkey roll, a glob of mashed potatoes covered in gravy, one tblsp of cranberries, and a small piece of what I think was cornbread setting in the potatoes and gravy. It also came with a small pumpkin tort which tasted like cardboard. Since the rest. was not closing until seven I called at 5:30 pm to order something else and was told they had quit serving at five. Since everything was closed due to the holiday I actually went to bed hungry. That meal was not worth $40. The servers in the restaurant were very friendly. It wasn't their fault. I think it was a combination of bad customer service, bad food, and a dismal room on a family holiday that made my experience one I was glad only lasted one night.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. I am sorry to hear about the issue that occurred during your stay. The staff should not have been away from the desk for more then a few minutes. The restaurant did close early at 7pm to allow are staff to spend time with there families. We did not close until 7pm on Thanksgiving so I am not sure who misinformed you about the hours. Its unfortunate you did not enjoy the Turkey Galantine, it is a turkey that is rolled and filled with stuffing and green beans. I personally had this meal and thought it was fantastic especially the home made pumpkin pie but people have different tastes when it comes to food especially something traditional like thanksgiving dinner. If something like this arises and you do not enjoy your meal please let your staff know that way you give us the opportunity to make it right. We would have been happy to replace the meal at no charge and get you something that was more to your liking. If you have a few minutes I would like to discuss your stay with you. I will follow up with all the staff to make sure these issues that your brought up do not occur again in the future.

We recently stayed here during a heat wave of unbearable temperatures and we’re so thankful to walk into our room to find it cool and comfortable. The beds were amazing! Way better than most hotels standard bed. It made it hard to get out of bed in the morning. The room was spacious and clean.
The staff was very friendly and always greeted us to see if we needed anything. It’s a good location. You can easily walk to restaurants, bars and shops and conveniently east to access off I5 and I405.
We also ordered room service from the on-site restaurant. The French toast is a must order!
We will definitely stay here again!

We were looking for a hotel with a convenient location to explore the city, but not be in the middle of downtown Portland. Silver Cloud was perfect, close to the freeway for easy driving but not at all noisy. Walking distance to the cute shops and restaurants in Slabtown on 23rd street. We did lots of walking around the neighbourhood! The room was comfy, clean and well-attended to. AC worked great and the bed was very plush. Great water pressure in the shower and sink.
The free on-site parking was a major plus for us. A lot of other hotels charge $30+ a day for valet or daily parking at a nearby lot. Having a car was a must in Portland, and being close to the highway meant we could skirt around the middle of the city and avoid a lot of traffic.

I stayed at the Portland Silver Cloud Hotel last week on my first trip to Portland. The hotel was easy to find and located outside of the business districts. The traffic was light most of the time, so it was quiet at night, but was located close to many restaurants and evening entertainment establishments.
The restaurant in the hotel served breakfast, lunch and dinner with full bar featuring several locally brewed beers on tap. The breakfasts were delicious and they served cappuccino, lattes as well as regular tea and coffee. I didn't eat dinner, but the burgers were very good.
Free parking on site is one of my "must haves" and I felt safe coming and going at all hours.
The room was immaculate and the linens were fresh and clean. My wife wanted to take the bed home with us, it was so comfortable. The big screen TV worked flawlessly and I was able to control the AC/heat at will. Plenty of hot water for showering and many complementary toiletries were provided. Did I mention how quiet it was at night?
Seemed to be lgbtq friendly.
The prices are what I would expect to pay in a Metro area on a holiday weekend.
I will definitely be going back next time I am in town, but I will bring different rain gear.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. Good rain gear is helpful for Portland 70% of the year, we do have umbrellas that you can use in case you did not bring a rain jacket. I agree with you the area is very comfortable and there are lots of restaurants and boutique shops within walking distance. We pride ourselves on delivering clean rooms and great service. From your review it looks like we were successful on both fronts. The beds are made in the northwest, and they are available for purchase from the manufacture. If you are interested let the staff know and we can provide you the information on how to purchase one. Thank you for the kind review and I hope the next time you are in the area you will stay with us again.
