Such a cool hotel! Here are some of the things we loved about the hotel: game room with a pool table, shuffle board, darts, giant sized Connect Four game, and many more games; funky fun furniture; outdoor sitting area with a huge metal globe for a fire pit; gear to use around town such as bikes and skateboards; credit for their little shop; and great friendly service. This hotel is also in a great location! We will stay there again.

We left Florida to get away from… Florida! Oregon didn’t disappoint. The weather is beautiful, people better, natural beauty ..amazing! We went to rivers, waterfalls and of course Astoria and Seaside (Goonies!). Portland is an incredible city with the best beaches and breathtaking waterfalls within one hour either way! Not a lot of nightlife.. but we weren’t really looking. Too tired from fun in the sun and hiking! On a slightly political note… We were taken-back with the condition of the city. The homeless population is shocking. Tent cities line the streets and highways. It smells horrific because the people have no where to go for basic human sanitation. The garbage is everywhere- and beyond- belief. The city has not recovered from the must - needed BLM riots. It’s shocking how much a mayor CAN’T do for a city. This is a great example. What a shame. Do not - NOT visit because of this! It is well-worth the visit! Just be mindful and safe!

Thank you for the review stephenandkatiea! We are happy you enjoyed your time in Portland and were able to get out of the city for hiking, exploring waterfalls is one of my personal favorite ways to spend a day off. We at Zags work to be a part of the solution in helping Portland bounce back from a difficult year. We want to keep our guest safe, help give them advice on where to go, and continue to give feedback to the city leaders about were we would like to see resources. This is an amazing town with great people and a lot of beauty. We hope to be part of bringing Portland back and guest staying with us exploring Portland is how to do that. Thank you for staying at the Zags and we hope to see you next time you need a break from the Florida heat. Cheers, Rachel

When I arrived at the hotel Zags I was greeted professionally at the desk by a lady that was professional but sweet nicely dressed I was very impressed by the lobby it was very fancy very cute tasteful they had a room to the right before you reach the lobby that's full of fun things that you can use while you were in town if you are a visitor at the hotel skateboards bicycles gaming devices scooters all type of fun things I'm not sure if it's for free but I think it is and it's all displayed in it little glass room before you reach the desk it's super fun and exciting that you can use all that stuff all you are there and don't have to go looking around for it! So I got checked in went to my room I was very impressed with the room it was super cute kind of small the bathroom was really nice I always look around my room to see what's extra in the room when I get there so I kind of know they had four really nice pillows on the bed very very tasteful decorating the bathroom was weird because you opened and closed the closet door and that's what made the bathroom door closed and the mirror was on the inside which was okay but I wish there was a mirror on the outside too because I don't like really standing in the bathroom all the time trying to see myself full length I kind of like standing out side of it now the only full length mirror there but besides that it was very tasteful. I found out there was no breakfast there because of the covid excuse that was a kind of a let down because I always look forward to breakfast at a hotel because I eat very light in the morning and it's nice to just walk downstairs from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 or so and be able to grab some yogurt juice oatmeal cereal muffin whatever and start my day so I can just move forward I don't want to have to go walking and looking for food in the morning it's kind of a pet peeve of mine. The room had robes in the closet very cute ones that came with it I was super excited about that because I didn't bring my robe this visit and I love wearing my road around the room so I don't always have to be dressed so I love that aspect very great touch I loved it! The hotel looks very expensive and it's in a very nice tasteful setting an area and you'd think it'd be a lot of money I believe it used to be around 150 at night I was there on a court business trip so the rooms actually paid for by me but I looked at prices cuz I was curious and it was only like $94 or something so I was very impressed with that! So if I was in Portland and I had to pay for my own room I would definitely pay to stay there! They had no stairs they only had an elevator that was kind of annoying I like to get up the stairs sometimes just because I hate waiting for the elevator all the time and I was only on the second floor and I think about what if there's a fire or something? Maybe they had emergency stairs I don't know I didn't search a lot but hopefully they did. They had cute little signs around the room was decorated nice that had some interesting art on a shelf the room was very very clean it was spotless I didn't see any dirt anywhere really I mean I own a cleaning company so I'm way too picky and I probably could say something about something but I'm not the parking was perfect they gave me multiple parking passes for my guests at no charge when they came to see me and I was super excited about that! Very convenient! I had my puppy with me I didn't want to show what their fee was exactly because it was paid for me but they treated my puppy super sweet and didn't complain or act weird like some people do and they had a great attitude and I love that! The girl that worked the night shift I'm not sure if her name I should have asked her it was rude of me not to but she was dressed super duper cute every time I seen her the first time she was like in this white corduroy ys '60s leisure suit her hair done up super cute and these awesome glasses that were pink and big and she was just so put together and I was so impressed with her look and she was his front desk girl and it was just awesome to walk in at night and see her just all dressed up me and my girlfriend loved it we complimented her we love her look it just added to the hotel it just made a fabulous experience! There wasn't no weirdos walking around or anything like : there was no people lurking in the parking lot or the hallways or in the building or by the front door so that was super duper nice because I've been places that were super nice and had weirdos working everywhere and it scared the crap out of me especially at night you couldn't even walk outside and smoke to not be asked for something or kind of scared to be out there so I felt very safe around the building inside and outside and I give them six stars out of six! They do need to get their breakfast situation together pronto because they can have breakfast to go they don't have to have hot food sitting there that people could just grab and take up their rooms or have little bags or whatever now be super classy because a lot of people would appreciate that especially in the business world cuz we're in a hurry we don't have time to make extra stops and literally I went without breakfast every single day because of it because I really just was tired from the day before and I had a lot going on and I had to be somewhere and I had to get all ready and so I didn't have time to go to any store and walk six blocks away so yeah get the breakfast together sweeties and then you'll be greatthatgoing to do that because they were clean enough for me and anybody!

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. My flight got into Portland at mid-night and by the time I arrived at the hotel it was well past mid-night. As I approached the night clerk to check in he decided to answer a call and kept me waiting at the desk for a period of time. Obviously the staff prefer to attend to calls rather than the person standing in front of them. In spite of the hotel being a non-smoking property, the first room I got reeked of smoke. I had to go back to have my room changed. The internet is a spam scam. You have provide your email address and be ready to accept all their promotional emails if you want to use their internet. I will not stay here again and I will not let those who I care about stay here either.

Thank you for the feedback DeeSund. We would not want guest checking late to have to wait at the front desk. We now have two staff members during the overnight to make sure if someone is taking a call or helping a guest there is another agent. There are times when we have multiple calls or requests and guest have to wait this is true. I can assure you our Night Audit Team wants to help everyone and prioritizes each conversation making sure each and every guest is getting what they need. We are a nonsmoking property and communicate this in multiple ways from confirmation emails to signage in rooms. We do not want anyone stepping into a room where a guest as smoked. We have a protocol including shampooing carpets when a pervious guest has smoked in a room. Arriving late and having to move rooms is not a great start to a vacation we will be adding steps to make sure this does not happen for another guest. You are welcome to unsubscribe to our promotional emails the location to do this is at the bottom on the email feel free to call and ask for Rachel and I can talk you through how to do this if you are having trouble with this. We ask for guest emails so it is a smooth automatic process during future stays. I hope you find a hotel that fits your needs next time you are in the area. Rachel
