Beat amenity ever is the bicycles for use at the hotel. As a person who has logged many miles on bikes, I was pleasantly surprised to take off on a smooth ride - helmet, lock and basket included. The only thing better would be to have a mount for you phone so you could easily follow a map to your destination. That’s too nit picky for the enormous amount of pleasure it has been to be able to bike like a local on the amazing networked dedicated bike paths of Portland. In addition, the restaurant is delicious, unique and full of homemade interesting dishes. But it wouldn’t be a great stay without a super friendly warm staff who attends to the details of making a hotel stay remarkable. Thank you!

sallymY6956AJ: You think we're awesome?! We think you're awesome! Thank you for sharing with the world your experience here at The Bidwell. I have a picture in my head of your having the time of your life, riding around town, going from one place to the next and it has me grinning from ear to ear. But I added on thing to my picture and that's phone holders to our bikes, doh! Such a great suggestion, sorry we didn't think of it before you. But you'll see them come your next visit. Thank you for your kind words about our team and hotel. Really means a lot. Until next time, take care of yourself and safe travels always.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I try to stay here once a year around his birthday. We look forward to this staycation all year long as we both don't have many opportunities to get away from the kids. We were beyond amazed with the renovated hotel. Formerly the Marriott City Center, The Bidwell is gorgeous! We love all the natural wood throughout the building and the High Horse bar is so nice. Bradley at the bar was very nice and made me a custom cocktail since I am picky and very rarely drink. It was yummy! We spent most our time in the high floor room with views of the north side. Maybe we have to stay twice a year now lol! My parents will be visiting in the summer and I told them to stay here.

Hi GigglyMama, Wow! What an awesome review of your stay...thank you!! I'm so happy to hear you had an amazing parents getaway (definitely a time to be treasured). Fun fact about the natural wood throughout the hotel: It's responsibly sourced from a farm in the PNW and made from trees that have already fallen down. Not only can we love the look, but we can feel good about it too! I look forward to sharing your feedback with Bradley (isn't he rad?!) and the rest of our team! We are especially excited to host your parents this summer; please reach out to me personally when you're making travel arrangements so I can ensure you and your parents the best stay. We appreciate you for spending your special time away with us, and we can't wait to start welcoming you back for your *quarterly* visits! Warmest Regards, Jamelyn Rothans Guest Satisfaction Ambassador jamelyn.rothans@thebidwell.com

Great hotel! Staff were super friendly and the restaurant had amazing food and cocktails. The room was clean and the guest laundry was very much appreciated. The reason I am writing this review is because of the valet-Tyler, Spencer and Jasmine. All three of them went above and beyond, super friendly and knowledgeable. The were running every time we saw them but always stopped to greet us anyway. I really would like to put special emphasis on Jasmine. She went out of her.way to make sure we had everything we needed!

I reserved a corner room with a city view several months ago for the Labor Day weekend. Upon check in, I was given room 1505, which is not a corner room. I went back to the front desk to let her know. The response was she can get me the corner room on the 4th floor. This room has no view or you could say a view to the surrounding buildings. I might as well stay at Hotel Lucia across the street in the future. There’s no benefit to being a gold elite Marriott reward member.

The hotel was a surprise and good delight. I travel a great deal for my work staying at Marriott hotels throughout the Pacific Northwest Alaska Hawaii and parts of California and today’s experience at this hotel Topsham mall. The staff was very friendly, enthusiastically give me a tour and a history of what this hotel is and stands for, as well as making sure I was comfortable in every aspect. The restaurant, The high horse, within the hotel but independent of the hotel was a relaxing and enthusiastic atmosphere. The food was great the cocktails were better, ha ha, but overall my stay here at the Bidwell, Portland Oregon, was outstanding!

The good news: very nice hotel downtown, the only area where you want to stay as there are hundreds of homeless in all other parts. It is also close to the main go to spots and a lot of shops, restaurants and to a lesser extent, bars. Most of the staff really nice and efficient, great rooms, superb beds, largest tvs in room I have ever seen. Great restaurant on site for large breakfast (one plate does serve 2) and brunch or a late night drink. Valet parking at $50, or $30 self parking around the corner. The bad news, Internet, really slow, and got disconnected all the time, even with the high speed package. Also, the $25 daily destination fee. Use it or lose it. Marriott unworthy. I stay in hotels 80 nights a year, never ever have seen that. Yes, you can spend it on highspeed internet, see above, or drinks, breakfast, but still, it should be my choice and not be semi forced to have food or a drink on site. Even worse, if you stay two days, you need to spend the 25 per day…..

We arrived at the Bidwell, parked at the curb. and were approached by a nicely dressed man who asked us how we were doing. I literally told my husband that if he asked for the keys, not to give them to him. Who was he? All the employees wear their own clothes (all nicely dressed), but no identifiers as to who they are. No Marriott logos, name badges, etc. It does look like they have some sort of Id cards, but these are clipped to belts - not very visible. He did say he was the doorman/security and we would give our keys to the front desk. Throughout our stay I was startled by folks coming up to us in the lobby and being friendly - they turned out to be staff. There are no dedicated valets, doormen, or bells. In fact when we left (and when my son left, separately, loaded down with baby stuff) the guy who brought our cars to the curb did not offer to help with the bags. Shouldn't need to ask! Good points were the clean, comfortable rooms, good selection for breakfast in the club lounge, friendly but unidentified staff. We had a room on the top floor with an amazing view and they were able to put the rest of our family next door to us. I think customer service is being diluted by trying to be "hip". A little nametag wouldn't hurt if you aren't requiring uniforms or even a color scheme.

Ahhhh Portland, OR, where everything is weird. No, I’m not talking about Portland, ME sadly but the one in Oregon. Portland is home to the Trail Blaizer's St. John’s Bridge, the Portland Timbers, and many more sports teams and attractions. When I was a teen, I always told my parents “I want to visit Portland one day!” Here I am 5 years later finally getting a chance to visit Portland and it has been the most beautiful, nature-oriented state I have ever visited. I visited Portland from July 14th-July 19th and it has been truly a great stay in Portland. Portland is an urban/suburban city and is the largest city in Oregon. You are just at the border of Washington (about a 15 min drive) and about an hour away from the capital, Salam, and about 2 hours away from Eugene. If you are ever in Portland, OR and you would love to stay at a modern, contemporary hotel, then the Bidwell Hotel is the hotel for you whether it’s a business trip, family, vacation, etc. The Bidwell Hotel is located at Downtown on Broadway Street. I took the LightRail from the PDX airport and it was about a 45 min ride and cost $2.50 for a one-way trip (make sure you get off at Pioneer Square North and it’s a 5 min walk from there). If you drive, it will be about a 20 min drive from the airport and if you uber it would be about a 20 min drive and will cost you about $20. From the Bidwell Hotel, it is a perfect 5-7 min walk to Pioneer Place (mall) and Pioneer Courthouse Square where you can find some food trucks, malls, food, shopping, or a place to hangout and relax. There are also many shops and restaurants near by the hotel as well within walking distance. You can also relax by the Williamette River which is a 15 min walk from the hotel and see a gorgeous view of the river. There are also many bridges all around Portland and all of them nearby are about a 15 min walk from the hotel. Unfortunately, St. John’s bridge will take you nearly 3 hours to walk, so it’s best to either drive or bike there. There are also many hiking trails you will see on the way too so make sure you check them out! I loved walking at Washington Park and the Marquand Trailhead, which both of them are very close by! If you get lost or need a good reference on where the hotel is, if you see Pioneer Square, you are getting super close and then you would just turn on Broadway. There is a nice large sign on the front and side so you CAN’T miss it! Now for the hotel! The Bidwell hotel is a very spacious, inviting, warm, modern, and contemporary hotel. According to the hotel the design “celebrates the Pacific Northwest with natural tones, textures, and materials inspired by the forest that surrounds (Bidwell Marriott website).” The property has 2o floors with 258 rooms and 5 meeting rooms (one of the rooms can be joined together with another room). The amenities of the hotel are free coffee and tea in the room, a 24-hour fitness center, bicycle rentals, room service, laundry service, valet parking ($50 daily), meeting and event spaces, pet-friendly, and a gift shop. The one thing about the hotel is there is no complimentary Wi-Fi. If you want to use the internet, it will be USD 4.95 per day or it’s free for Marriott Bonvoy members. This option is best for email, texting, use of social media, and web browsing. If you want enhanced internet, it’s USD 9.95 per day or free for gold and higher elite members. It’s best for streaming, video chat, plus the other access I mentioned. The hotel has a designated restaurant called High Horse which is open from 4–10 PM on the weekends and 7 AM–2 PM, 4–10 PM on the weekdays. The Bidwell hotel was built in 1999 and was recently renovated in 2020. The interior of the lobby had those modern Pacific Northwest vibes and I loved that theme which carried throughout the entire hotel. On the right was the gift shop where you can buy souvenirs and rent bikes as well. I loved how high the ceiling was too because it made the lobby feel bigger. I don’t know much about the Bidwell Hotel’s history but I‘m sure it has great history if you ask. I got the absolute pleasure of staying at the Bidwell Hotel. I stayed in the BEST corner guest room with a beautiful city view which was on the 19th floor. When I first walked in, I didn’t realize how huge the corner room was. That Pacific Northwest modern contemporary theme kept going through the guest room as well. I loved some of the art pieces that were in my room as well. For example, there was a bear that was made out of cars painting on top of my bed. I thought it was cute and colorful because, for me, it just appealed to my eyes. There was also an abstract blue painting on the wall which was beautiful. It looked very unique and I loved how abstract it was. The bathroom was beautiful as well and I loved the stand-in shower, The tile work was beautiful, the countertops were great and the floating cabinets had great color. My favorite part of my room was my view! It was probably one of the best views I ever had. It was not only overlooking Downtown Portland but also were many trees and mountains that were attractive to look at! I have to say, it was the most STUNNING view I ever had! There were times that it got a bit noisy, especially in the evening since you are downtown but overall was pretty quiet. Overall, everything in my room was very clean and everything was working in perfect condition. There is also a safe in the room for you to put anything in there you don’t want stolen. In addition in the bathroom, there was a hair dryer, conditioner, shampoo, and shower gel for guests to use. Yes, there is a refrigerator, but there is no microwave. If you do need a microwave, you can call the lobby and request to bring one up for you (the cleaners will take the microwave back the next day). If you are staying at the Bidwell hotel, just be aware of your surroundings at all times as there tends to be sketchy/homeless people around the hotel but they don’t get too close. Personally, I did feel safe at the Bidwell hotel as I was aware of my surroundings but make sure you come at daylight versus at night. Overall. this is a beautiful hotel with exceptional service! Whenever you are in Portland, you gotta make your stay at the Bidwell hotel! Very clean hotel that is no doubt a great hotel! Huge shout out to Tyler for getting me settled and checking me in! I appreciate everyone at the Bidwell hotel for the great stay as overall, I had a great time staying at the Bidwell hotel!

From the correspondence before the stay, to the room and hospitality throughout -- truly a fantastic trip! My partner and I were coming to Portland to celebrate our engagement, and Charlotte R. made us feel very looked after. We stayed in a high, corner King room with beautiful views. Each morning when we had breakfast at the M Club, John from the restaurant went out of his way to make sure my partner's food allergies were taken care of and that he still had a great meal. The property feels fresh, and I love the aesthetic. Truly a team of happy, helpful, can-do people that made for a memorable and meaningful stay!
