Detailed Reviews
We rented cabins 1,3, and 4. We met up with family from Idaho and just had a blast! The weather was perfect, but we still found an awesome hill to sled down back behind cabin 2. Prices were very reasonable and the park ranger that was there was great at keeping the firewood restocked for us. We will be back again for sure!

Clean and small state park. On arrival was greeted by camp host stoping us on the way in and wanting to see proof of our reservation number and site number. That was a first. I had read other reviews on the freeway noise and it was even louder than I had anticipated. On our walk around the park it was difficult at times to hear each other talk due to the freeway noise. If you get past the noise it is a pretty park. Easy to get around on the roads with our 26’ class c. Would stop again as an overnight but not longer. We had two bars on our Verizon service.

Beautiful park, nice sites. Bathrooms were the best of any state park we’ve been. You can camp with your horse, and there are trails too! Only one bad thing- There is highway noise, so if that is a deal breaker, then don’t stay. I put on my sound app and it didn’t bother us.

If you like traffic noise and very crowded sites, this is the state park for you…..
This is the 6thor 7th state park we’ve used this trip, and it’s by far the worst.
There was no ranger in attendance upon arrival, our reserved spot was not reserved, and the “host” appear to have removed his RV from the campground. No number to call.

This was an overnight stay on a road trip. Very easy to find right off the highway. We stayed in a cabin away from the highway, so it was very quiet. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Sleeps 5 with a table, chairs, heater and stove outside. Picnic table and fire ring outside, plenty of room for a tent or 2 as well. The bathroom facilities are very nice. It's a short walk on a trail to the bathrooms and showers.
Enjoy!!

We spent four nights here while doing various activities in the area. The sites are among the tall timber. The highway noise mentioned in many other reviews weren't an issue. It turned into white noise. The only negative was the men's bathroom that always stunk. Not real clean. The showers were fine. Learned from those that camp here quite abit, at night prop open your vehicle's hood to keep the packrats from making a nest there and chewing up everything.

This is a great place to camp on the Oregon trail. It's clean, well stocked, and wood doesn't cost too much. Spaces could be more private, and road noise from I84 drove my husband nuts, but earplugs saved the day, and we could not have asked for better weather. The camp hosts are some of the most awesome we've met in our travels. This campground is a short drive to the Baker City Oregon Trail Museum, an even shorter drive to Lagrande or Pendleton and is about 10-15 minutes from a few really cool swimming holes in the Grande Ronde river that are shallow and perfect for wading around on a hot day. We had a blast here! 😀

This campground is in a beautiful, lush Oregon alpine forest. The facilities were clean and the campground was quiet. We did hear some traffic noise from the road, but it wasn't too bad. The cabin we stayed in was clean, cozy, had heat and a refrigerator. If you are staying in an RV, pick loop B, which is a little further away from the traffic noise. If you are staying in a cabin, it is a bit of a hike to the bathroom, so be prepared!

We stayed here one night as a stop over on our way down to the national parks in southern Utah. It is RIGHT off the highway which makes in convenient. It also makes it a bit noisy because of highway sounds from 84. For us it was perfect for the one night stop over. They had some nice looking trails and a lot of information posted about the emigrants that was really interesting. It would be a good location to explore the area.

My family and I went camping here for the 2017 eclipse and stayed in the two Totem cabins.
I thought the beds in the Totem cabins were fairly comfortable (relative to the yurt we stayed at in Grey's Harbor) but other members of my party disagreed. The beds have a layer of plywood with maybe two inches of mattress on top. This worked well for me, but not for others. Pillows easily fall off the top end of the bed, unless you have something like a bag to block the gap between the bed and the wall. Bring your own bedding and plan for the weather. The cabins each have a heater, but no insulation and the walls are not 100% weather proof (unlikely that your stuff will get wet, even in heavy rain).
Definitely bring ear plugs. Even in the Totem cabins, road noise was ever-present.
The big frustration with staying in the Totem cabins is that other campers think they are the bathrooms or a public building and will consistently walk through your camp ground or even into your cabin. We had to redirect--or yell at--at least five different campers in a single afternoon. Even setting out basic camp gear (pots/pans, hammock, etc.) and hanging out at our site didn't deter people from just walking through our space and into our private rooms. ALWAYS LOCK YOUR CABIN!
I was really put off by all of the electrical and mechanical noises around the campground. Several of the rangers (not all) used golf carts to roam around, but the golf carts had back up sirens (all of which are annoying, on purpose) and no headlights. This meant that we were frequently inundated with sirens, and then had flashlights inconsistently waved in our face as an indication to get off the road. I would have switched those safety features had I had any say.
Bathrooms were well stocked, and showers had warm water with no timer. Very good for glamping. Bring sandals and your own soap.
I was pleasantly surprised by how cool the campground was with all the shade, despite the 90 degree Fahrenheit weather.
