This is an outstanding hotel, conveniently located in Lake Oswego, with a very friendly and professional staff. We prefer staying at Hilton Garden Inn when we travel as there is always an consistently excellent product and a delicious cooked to order breakfast. A big shout out to Violeta who took care of us each morning and made sure that our breakfast was exactly as ordered. Due to her efforts, each day started out on a wonderful note.

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. It is exceptionally quiet and clean, plus during the time we chose (pandemic/Oct 2020), it was a great value. I assume most guests are business people, and that's why it's so quiet. We checked in with the Hilton app, and our smart phone opened the door.

The room was large, pleasantly decorated and well-maintained, and the bed is very comfortable. The microwave and fridge came in handy during our 6-day stay, and our very large TV was a nice touch. We traveled with our dog, and had a room at the back, bottom floor near the door, which made it very convenient to take him out to do his business.

The hotel seems to have done a good job of sanitizing surfaces and linens, etc., which is important during a pandemic, and we felt comfortable. There is hand sanitizer by the doors, and once they clean a room, they place a seal on the door so you know no one's been inside since. The remote was even sanitized and wrapped in plastic. My only negative comment is the room could use a couple more USB ports, but perhaps I didn't look everywhere.

Because of COVID-19, there was no breakfast served, but the hotel is in walking distance to nice places to eat, and is a short drive to pick up snacks, etc. at Trader Joes. I've stayed at numerous places here in Lake Oswego, and this is my favorite. We will definitely be back.

Recently made a trip to Portland with my wife. Needed somewhere close to Lake Oswego and selected the Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel is conveniently located off of I-5 with easy access to Hwy 217. The hotel was very clean and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The room had a large window that provided plenty of natural light and the television was large and looked new. If you are looking for a hotel conveniently located off of I-5 I would highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn Portland/Lake Oswego.

Paid for a ‘premium king rm with beverages and snacks plus breakfast package for what was supposed to be a hot breakfast. Got a room that was totally unimpressive, had no snacks nor beverages, they aren’t even serving a hot breakfast and yet booked a package that included breakfast. When I tried to address this with cashier she said there was “nothing she could do about it that I had to call customer service! “

Response from DeEsta Denver, General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Portland/Lake Oswego
Responded 23 Mar 2021
Thank you for the feedback about your recent stay. We are very sorry your experience did not offer you the quality of service you deserve. COVID-19 has restricted food and beverage at the hotel, and with the restaurant still closed our breakfast is limited to the grab-n-go boxes in the gift shop. I understand that isn’t the great hot breakfast we used to serve, but we hope to have the restaurant serving hot options in the near future. Please contact me if there is anything else we can do for you at this time. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future.

The location is great, lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and included a Kuerig coffee maker! Unfortunately we cannot give it five stars because there was no included full hot breakfast. At the cost of the room (6 nights) all other local hotels provide a full hot breakfast. Breakfast is available for a menu fee daily.

The service was terrible, the staff belligerent and entitled, the parking was insufficient, the elevator was broken, the bed was like sleeping on plywood, the AC struggled to keep the room at a comfortable temperature and was very loud when it kicked on and off all night, there was a large splotch of what looked like collect coagulated blood on the floor in the bathroom which is obviously disgusting. When I called to get some room service, the night staff Explained that due to Covid it would not be available and hung up on me when I got annoyed. Then they refused to pick up the phone when I tried to call back to the front desk and just let the phone ring. I would probably go elsewhere if you need to stay in this area. A very disappointing Hilton experience.

Parking garage is nice for rainy Portland... but only 1 of the 2 elevators goes down to the garage level. Not sure what genius decided that. When trying to go from room to car, if you don't get the 'correct' elevator, you have to stop in the lobby and play a game of button pushing to try to call the other elevator just to go down the extra floor. Stupid. Room heater was about the same noise level as a running car engine, so that wasn't fun. Counter clerk on our Sunday morning departure was particularly unfriendly, and the lobby is pretty sad looking compared to most other HGIs, especially the tiny bar in the corner for maybe 2 people. The rain makes things depressing enough as it is... who would want to sit there?
On the plus side, there is a $tarbuck$, Applebees, Olive Garden and other options within 2 blocks. It's also right off I-5. Getting into the nearby Shell gas station (the only one close by) can be a little tricky due to the lanes- best to come at it southbound.

When you pay a premium to stay at a Hilton property you expect a certain criteria. Like your key card to work at the parking garage, we had to walk , with a luggage rack, up hill and around to the front door and when we told the gal at the front desk she just said huh. This was after having to switch rooms as the first room stuck like an ashtray. Then there is the mold coming thru the caulking in the bathtub. Bleach people bleach. Cut the old caulking out bleach it rinse it dry it then recaulk.

The day before our stay we were given the option to check in through the Hilton app on our phone. Through the app we selected our room and could go directly to the room with the digital key. Thought it was a great way to check in especially during covid. We got in pretty late and relieved that we had no issues with our arrival. Only issue I had was that there was none of the normal information in the room like hotel rules, amenities, etc. but having stayed here before we felt we knew what to expect. In the morning we ordered breakfast to take up to eat in our room. Noticed the normal door sign on the handle to leave outside the door that only states to let housekeeping know if we did NOT want the room cleaned. We wanted our room made up, even left the dishes from breakfast in the room. After a full day of business meetings, we could not wait to go to our room to relax only to find our room exactly the same as we left it. Dirty dishes and all. I tried calling the front desk only to get a recording. Called housekeeping and that too went straight to recording. After several attempts to get a live person to no avail, I went to the front desk only to find one person checking people in a long line of new arrivals. So I just asked her if there is someone I can reach to service our room. The response was, you need to request to have your room cleaned. I responded, how would anyone know that? She said well there are notices everywhere and that was that. It was very clear that there is no one there to help you. So I guess Covid means to take what you get and servicing you is no longer compulsory. So I apparently this is the new state of the hospitality industry.

Dear Valued Hilton Garden Inn Guest - My sincere apologies for not responding sooner, so I hope that this response gets to you timely. Within the past two (2) years, we recently switched out to the Serta Perfect Sleeper bed from the older style adjustable beds. This change greatly impacted our hotel guest comfort and experience. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the hotel. Kind Regards - Paul E. Freimark, GM, HGI Lake Oswego
