We stayed at this motel for two nights. It's very clean and come with a microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator, and blow dryer. The air conditioner worked great. There isn't a great view of anything from the motel, but it is very near everything you'll want to see. The employees are really nice. We accidentally locked ourselves out of the bathroom in the middle of night and couldn't find any way to open the door. When we called the office the first thing in the morning, they advised us to use the edge of a coin to open the door; it worked! We'd definitely stay in this motel again the next time we are in Hood River. You'll appreciate the cleanliness and A/C.

My family and I stayed here as we were passing thru this town. The room was clean and check in and check out was easy. Only complaint the beds were very firm, could use some foam mattress toppers. Room wasnt what I would call "spacious" was actually quite narrow if traveling with 4 people.

This was a one night stay during a road trip. This is a basic motel; the room was fine. Compared to other rooms we stayed in on the same trip, the room was definitely overpriced in comparison. Walking distance to the main area of town if you’re willing to walk a mile.

$162.00 per night. Really? This motel is across the street from Safeway . Two stories. $10.00 extra to stay on the second floor. If you stay here stay on the second floor or you will hear your upstairs neighbor's every footstep. The town was sold out so we stayed here out of desperation. 'Basic' is the word that comes to mind. Old beds. Thin towels. Noises, really noisy, air conditioning. Shower curtains enclosing a bathtub. Friendly folks run it but , as a VERY frequent traveler ( see my other reviews) I would expect to pay about 89.00-99.00 per night. There are new hotels in Hood River at the same price point. No breakfast. Free parking right outside your window. 1 mile from downtown.

Sunset Motel Hood River, is beyond amazing! In order to fully understand my rating, let me briefly explain the events that led to our (my mother and I) stay at this terrific motel. Around 12pm, our rental truck had a major breakdown. We were able to pull safely off the road into a small state park area and contact roadside. Once it was determined that we would not be back on the road until possibly next day, I was instructed to make a hotel reservation so that roadside could locate and dispatch a towing vendor to move us and our truck to the hotel location. Due to a limit budget, I picked what seemed to be the most reasonably priced choice nearby. Due to several complications, we did not arrive to the motel until nearly 11pm with a 16ft moving truck in tow. Check in was smooth, friendly and the manager and his wife went above and beyond every expectation I had of customer service. Our only option for parking, due to the parking lot being full, was to have the truck put into the RV park adjacent to the Motel (also ran by the Motel). When I explained to the manager that there was absolutely no other spot to fit my truck, they allowed me to park in the RV lot. Next morning, I was able to reserve the room for an additional night; as we were now waiting for a new truck, loaders and broken truck removal.
So, with all that we have gone through with our rental truck, Sunset Motel was more than just clean, friendly, comfortable and convenient. They were compassionate, understanding and beyond accommodating. I am at a loss for words to truly do justice on describing the amenities of this motel. What I can say, is that it was an experience that made a very terrible situation...much easier to deal with.

Very disappointed. The room was clean and nicely decorated but there were so many things wrong or missing that the trip was a bit uncomfortable. No facial tissues in the box in the bathroom, 1/2 roll toilet tissue with no extra, only one face cloth (there were two of us registered), horribly lumpy pillows (3 on bed and no spares) and worst of all, the refrigerator wasn't cooling at all. We called for TP and they brought over a roll but said they could "do nothing about the refrigerator." Of course we found that out after returning from a nice meal with leftovers we wanted to take home the next day. There were at least 4 other facilities that night with prices within $10 of Sunset. We'll try one of them next time.

We had an amazing stay at the Sunset Motel at a great, affordable price. We arrived early, way before check-in, and the person working there gave us great tips on what to do for the day and also let us leave our car in their parking lot, which was quite safe. Egg River is a great spot for brunch down the street, and the cute city center is a pleasant walk away as well. For any last minute needs, Safeway, a liquor store, a McDonalds and more are right across from the motel. There was a fridge and microwave in our room, which is more than some hotels in Portland can say. We awoke to a wonderfully quiet morning. I would highly recommend!

first, paper thin walls, stayed bottom end unit. Upper and other side with room, could here normal conversations, toilets flushing, shower and drains noice all night Doors slamming, well just say way too much noise for us. Wear slippers floors are dirty, after shower had to rinse feet. Lastly, the refrigerator makes a horrid sound every few hours.. Though the bed was good, the frame makes a noice each time you shift position, could hear the bed clearly next room and upper.. Stay at your own risk, if your hearing is fine, expect a disturbed night.

Dear Guest, Your feedback shows that there was a complete breakdown with the stay which is really worrisome. This is not at all a regular feature of our hotel and something has gone wrong. Room was tiny and bed was not great, no room to walk around. Ice machine was broken and grounds were a weedy mess. Thank goodness it didn’t have carpet. 25 dollars for a small pet was a laugh. I don’t mind paying but this was a joke considering the room. Managers well they should help with grounds. Hood River isn’t worth the money. We spoke with another couple and they said they felt it was a bad value

We were looking for an affordable place in Hood River for an overnight stay while heading to the coast. Wow, the area is not cheap.
Sunset was a great price and accepted our dogs. Big plus because they aren't staying in the car overnight. However the dogs are the only reason that I'm not giving Sunset a 5: the pet fee is HIGH. Not sure how it compares in the greater Hood River area, but the fee was 5x more than other hotels on the trip.
Now, let's talk about the positives- Staff was nice. Bed was great. Good pillows. Responsive temp control. Clean! Our room looked like it was recently remodeled. Easy access from vehicle (it's a motel...hello). Major grocery directly across the street.
So, yeah. I would stay there again if in the area.
