Hotel's Favourite
What a perfectly fine little ski lodge at which to save a little money compared to Timberline or an Airbnb. The snow was up to the second floor window when we were there, and our room had a nice little view of the trees and stream that abut the hotel. The proximity to the pretty decent brewpub nextdoor was a big plus, as was the little hot tub room (kids loved it). Breakfast was ok. We’ll come again for sure - a bargain!

Thanks for staying with us! I’m delighted to see that you had a fun time at the hotel and in Government Camp! It’s been a snowy spring, so it’s great to hear that you were able to come up and enjoy Mt. Hood before the end of the season. Be sure to look us up for your next trip since we’d love to see you again!

The hotel was nice. Unfortunately because of covid we couldn't gather in the nice lobby or have a breakfast buffet. They had a "grab and go" little packaged muffin thing instead. The room was clean and modern. Location is just at the end of "town" so you can easily walk to the bars and restaurants of government camp but far enough away so that it's quiet. Our room (#216) seemed smaller than most and with a smaller window for some reason. Other than that, no complaints.

We arrived late, with unexpected additional Guests. Even in the height of Ski Season, the front desk was able to accommodate us. They were extremely helpful with arranging the additional room, with the check in process and with returning calls and e-mails. Rarely do we see such excellent service.

ski resort location at mt hood, government camp. no venue to wax skis for ski race. when i asked staff what our options were, they had none. When i asked if it would be ok to wax in the room, we have full drop cloth and clean impeccably. check-in staff ok'd it. next day, Staff was unwilling to back off the $250 charge for waxing in room, after they found it at room cleaning, They were very rigid in their stance. i still have yet to hear from the manager, but will be reaching out as the manager was unavailable on weekends.

I did review the information provided to me regarding this situation, and unfortunately I did not have confirmation of anyone clearing bringing ski’s into the guest room or having waxing occur in the room. This was something that we had to discontinue due to multiple instances of damages to rooms with both ski’s/snowboards damaging walls, water damage from snow melting off the equipment, and damage to carpet due to waxing occurring in the rooms. This is why we added this onto the registration card indicating that bringing ski’s/snowboards into the hotel would incur a fee. Unfortunately since the skis were in the room and the waxing did occur, we will be unable to refund the fee at this time.

Room blinds were stuck halfway down. When reported that to staff they said that all the blinds in the hotel are broken and cannot be fixed. They manually lowered the blinds but no light in room after. This was quite unacceptable! Paying $250+ per night and can’t even get basic things in the room to work!
The service staff also do not deliver towels, soaps etc to the room. Had to physically go down to the front desk and haul over these items…

+1
Frankly speaking, this property has not bad hard facilities. The room was spacious and clean. location is next to Mt Hood. One of the front desk (a old lady) was so great. However, I was confronted with the worst manager in hospitality industry. The manager name is Mitchell. She/he was so ridiculous. As a manager, she/he did not know the basic rule of best western. After sending four emails in the last four days, she still refused to redeem my best western gift card because of its 25 Euro. She did not know any currency gift card can be used in any best western properties all over the world. She was unwilling to spend 10 minutes talking with best western headquarter to know how to use the voucher in their system. She considered my bad review as a threat for her and she further refuse to redeem my voucher even if my voucher is eligible. She/he never considered to improve her/his professional knowledge. She did not have patience, enough knowledge, and skills for customer relationship. I don't know why Mitchell can be a manager in best western property by such a horrible attitude towards guests inquiry.

I’m not normally one to leave bad reviews but I felt this was necessary so the hotel takes appropriate action for their future guests.
We got to the property around 9pm after a long day of driving, excited to settle in and rest up for the following day. We checked in and went up to our room to find that it was barely cleaned. There was a dirty rag on the floor in the corner of the room; there were long black hairs on almost all of the pillows in our room; it wasn’t well vacuumed and the toilet paper roll wasn’t changed over from the previous guests.
I decided to mention it to the front desk person who was nice enough to offer us another room for the night and apologized for the inconvenience.
We got up to the next room but again found long black hairs on our pillow cases and a used tissue under the covers of the bed. We probably could have found more issues, but decided at that moment to leave the hotel and drive another hour to Portland rather than stay the night here.
I was told we’d be refunded for our stay and left my contact info for the GM who the front desk person said would be in the next morning to assist with the refund but I have not been contacted 4 days later.
We chose to stay here based on their 4 star overall rating but after looking more closely, we found several recent reviews with similar experiences.
Again, i’m generally not a picky person when it comes to where I stay, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere, especially given the premium price that they are charging for their stays here.
Overall, very disappointing experience and I hope they take appropriate action with their housekeeping staff.
If we were able to notice these issues immediately after entering these rooms, just imagine what other corners they could be cutting in their cleaning.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We deeply apologize for the unacceptable cleanliness issues you encountered during your stay. Your experience is far from the standards we strive to maintain, and we regret the impact this had on your visit. We understand how frustrating it must have been to arrive after a long day of travel only to find your room in such condition, and we are truly sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your patience with the front desk and their efforts to provide an alternative room, but it is clear that we fell short again. Rest assured, we are addressing these concerns directly with our housekeeping team to ensure this does not happen in the future. We will also be reviewing our communication processes to ensure that guest concerns, such as your refund, are handled promptly and effectively. Your feedback is invaluable to us as it helps us identify and correct shortcomings in our service. We hope you will give us another opportunity to restore your trust in the future.

We made a dry run prior to our trip and the help we were given by the staff here regarding shuttle info, local restaurants, travel up to Timberline in AM etc. was invaluable. Thank you to the gal that also works at Olive Garden in Gresham OR, for your time and assistance with our trip planning. As well as all other staff everyone was friendly and helpful. Also, thanks to the gentlemen worker with the beard that heard our whole family singing in the hot tub and got a kick out of it, rather than breaking up our fun. We were also impressed with the constant cleaning witnessed throughout the facility. Thank you Everyone for a warm, welcoming, fun time.

I had two different reservations for this property in January and was unable to make either one. I cancelled the reservations online well ahead of the cancellation dates. I thought everything was fine until I just opened my credit card statement and found I was charged for one of the stays that I had cancelled. I called Best Western customer service and was told any refund would have to come from the actual property. They contacted them for me and then they let me know that this property would not issue any refund. I contacted the property directly after that and explained the situation again but was again told that it wasn't their problem and they wouldn't issue any refund or credit even though their website clearly glitched (since I cancelled both reservations at the same time). The manager said that any issues with canceling online wasn't their problem and that I would have had to contact the hotel directly to cancel. Manager had no desire to listen to me or offer any suggestions of how I could elevate this issue. So now I'm out $193.00 for a glitch on the Best Western website and am told there is nothing I can do about it. Wow, very disappointed in this response and Best Western. Will definitely not recommend this property to anyone.

Though I do miss their normal breakfast and hot tub experience, this hotel is doing what they can to make staying during covid safe and enjoyable. Glad to see they have plexi glass up to keep their workers safe too. In the morning you can pick up a bagged breakfast with water, nutrition bar, orange, and muffin which is plenty to fill you up for a long morning of riding. Plus the brewery next door has “to go” cocktails for Apres ;)

our hotel does not allow pets
Ski Bowl West is directly across Highway 26. Ski Bowl East is 3/4 mile up Government Camp Loop. Sometimes SkiBowl operates a shuttle. You may want to contact them for that information.
How close is the hotel to the Mt. Hood ski resort? Also, is it necessary to have a car in this area?
There is a public bus the Mountain Express that takes you to and from Timberline. It is $2 one way but it only runs every couple of hours. Getting to our hotel would be the challenge. Timberline is the only ski area open right now and is 7 miles away.
As long as you check in by 2am before we do audit you are fine. Just give the front desk a courtesy call and let us know around what time to expect you. Thanks
We are no longer pet friendly as of the first of this year. sorry
