I booked this stay for my partners birthday for a chilled weekend getaway, we didn't want to go out so booked the dinner bed and breakfast package. Everything was great from the moment we arrived we were greeted by Carly who was really friendly and helpful checking us in. Our room a privilege king room was amazing, the room was massive with really lovely bathroom. We arrived on an extremely cold snowy day and our room was a little cold and couldn't figure out the heating but as soon as we reported this Carly arrived at the room to help and later even sent up an extra heater - this was super service! We had Dinner in Carter and Fitch which was lovely, shout out to Jackie and Nichole who went above and beyond to make the night special for my partners Birthday - they were both super friendly and need to be recognised for their customer service skills. Too often we go to places and feel like the staff can't be bothered or don't want to be at work so it was great to receive friendly service that we did. Jackie recommended the smoked sharing platter which was great! We will certainly be back, location is close enough to pop into Newcastle and the Metrocentre but out of the way enough that you can just get away from the city and chill.

We booked as a couple and were allocated a twin room with an adjoining door to the room next door. WHY would we be allocated a room with an adjoing door next to people we were not connected to??? We could hear everything - someone arguing with their partner called 'Vicky , then after the bar closed I dont know how many people were in the room but we could hear it all. It was part of a wedding party. Surely common sense would mean you allocate rooms for a wedding party together. At midnight I had to call reception To their credit we were allowed to sleep in another room along the corridor. Result. But in the morning I said to reception that the room 206 had a broken seal on the window as it was blowing a hoolie outside but also through the window the curtains were blowing too. Oh my bedroom window was the sane. All I can do is apologise . Sorry that is not all that can redone. We had a really bad experience. On the plus side the Zealand staff in the restaurant were great

Stayed here for two night over a weekend. Arrived late on Friday night a little worried having read some of the recent reviews but I had no cause for concern. We stayed in a Privilege room on the 2nd floor. The room was quite large with a very comfortable king size bed and refurcished bathroom. We struggled a little with the plug in the bathroom sink but was told by the maid later that there was a lever behind the tap, which we had missed. The room was clean but the bed was not made between the Friday night and Saturday, not sure if this normal proceedure at this hotel as I am normally used to the bed being made daily. This also meant the dirty coffee cups from Saturday remained unchanged so we had to wash them in the bathroom sink. Also we could not find any information in the room regarding breakfast times or other services in the hotel, which again may be due to Covid. Overall very happy with the stay . Was celebrating a family birthday so had several members of the family staying only complaint they had was the rude member of reception staff when my cousin tried to book in early (my sister had booked in earlier) and also the massive queue that formed when everyone tried toc heck in at 3.00pm only for the system to not work.

Myself and three of my friends visited for a relaxing spa night/day. Upon arrival to reception we were greeted by Charlotte who was so helpful and went above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble. We had spa treatments which were truly amazing. We arte in the restaurant that evening and both Jackie and Faye were amazing and attentive and answered any questions regarding the meals and drinks that we had. Theyy were happy and smiling and nothing was too much trouble from them. I would also like to mention that Jodie who works on the bar was lovely. We also seen Jodie at breakfast and when we asked for extra sauces etc. Nothing was too much trouble. All in all a brilliant experience at the George Washington hotel. I look forward to visiting again with my friends in the near future. The staff were faultless and the customer service we experienced enabled us to have such an enjoyable experience. The staff are second to none. I want to give a special shout-out and a big thank you to Charlotte, Jackie, Faye and Jodie and thank you to all the other staff who were on duty when we were there. Can’t wait to visit again.

The hotel staff are very pleasant, the issue I have is the quality of the rooms. The bathroom had black mildew under the tap and basic things life the wardrobe doors didn’t run smoothly (kept falling off the track) and the fridge was warm not cold.. the leisure facilities are small! I would avoid a room in the 300’s as a colleagues room smelt of chip fat! It was a decent location for where I needed to be for business but that’s it.
