Hoar Cross Hall Hotel and Spa receives accolades for its high cleanliness standards, with travelers often remarking on its immaculate areas. The hotel exudes a beautiful, albeit occasionally noisy, ambiance. While the spa's amenities are a highlight, garnering admiration for their serenity and luxury, guests have called out the need for room refurbishments and mentioned discomfort due to temperature issues.
Noise disturbances and additional costs have led to some dissatisfaction regarding value. Nonetheless, the picturesque location and the staff's commendable service are consistently praised by visitors.

Hotel's Favourite
We decided we would visit again after a previously fantastic stay last year, this time for my husband’s birthday. Once again we had the most amazing experience. From checking in with Millie who treated us like royalty, making us feel valued (observations on her later actions with other guests shows this was how all guests are treated :) ) checked our meals and spa experiences were correct. We had a stunning room overlooking the terraced area and into the wooded area, lovely to hear the birds in the morning. The room was spacious, clean and the bed so comfortable. The bathroom was well maintained, the toiletries smelled lovely. Hubby was happy he could watch tv from the bath!!! Housekeeping were great, and the room kept clean and replenished.
The food in the ballroom was excellent, no matter which meal, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, the quality shone through.
Special shout out for the chefs, the Ballroom was busy on the second night we were there, and it felt like all the guests had decided to eat at the same time so the place was full. Yet still the service was relaxed (efficient and not manic) and dishes were received swiftly to the exceptionally high standard we have learned is the normal at HCH. Our waitress, Georgia, is an asset to the hotel. Having worked in hospitality, we could both see her commitment to the customer in all she did, she was always smiling and unobtrusive in keeping her stations flowing. She engaged well and was interested in our day.
We planned our spa experience better this time around so we could make the most of the facilities. We still have bits we want to try on our next visit (I think this is going to be an annual trip!) I had a manicure with Hayley and felt truly pampered for the afternoon. The hubby had a deep tissue massage. I could tell as soon as I saw him it had been good and he had one of the best night’s sleep in a long while following it. (He may have also slept on the massage table as well!)
The spa is well deserving of the highest accolade, the pool a lovely temperature to swim in and we enjoyed exploring the different options. Next trip it’s the heated beds for me and maybe the Sanctum for some reflective time.
Lunch on the final day, efficiently managed by Cem, he was brilliant with all the guests and was a great leader in the room, engaging well with everyone yet also allowing people to enjoy the food and the stunning surroundings.
I loved the decorations for Halloween as you enter and the autumnal display in the ballroom. As we were earlier in the year than our previous stay we were able to see the stunning views as we ate.
This is fast becoming one of our favourite places to stay, the food is amazing, the choice of dishes made it difficult to pick one, I was glad I was there for two nights so I could try others. The hotel and grounds are stunning, the rooms are spacious and well decorated and there are little nooks where you can sit and relax, or play a game of dominoes.
However, for me, what makes the stay at Hoar Cross Hall so special has to be the staff. Every single person was friendly and welcoming and I cannot wait to go back.

We were lucky enough to book a great Black Friday deal to stay a Saturday night at HoarCross after being highly reccomended by a friend. I emailed in advance to ask if we could be allocated one of the newly refurbished rooms and we were given the ground floor Lady Mary room which on the surface was absolutely stunning. The huge room had a really opulent feel, comfortable superking bed, plenty of space to get ready and relax, and a huge bathroom with luxurious corner bath.
The downsides were that the room hadn't been vaccumed for some time and the toilet was soiled on our arrival. Most other things looked clean, but it did leave us questioning if the sheets had been changed or the bath cleaned which wasn't the nicest feeling.
We loved the spa and despite some people treating it like a public swimming bath (not the spa's fault, but maybe some more signage ahout spa etiquette might help?!) it was a thoroughly relaxing stay. There was so much to do in the spa, and I would love to return. As others have mentioned, one of the jaccuzis was out of order and a few jets in the aqua massage area, but we didn't find this to be a huge problem as there were many other options available.
The food was exquisite and a small mix up of which drinks were included in our package was rectified by staff on reception when mentioned.
We weren't asked about our stay upon checkout which was disappointing as it seems like this would be an area where they could gain insight into improvement, but it is a simply stunning venue with glorious grounds and an exceptional spa. Knowing we booked on a great deal I feel we had good value, but paying full price would have left me a little disappointed with some areas such as room cleanliness.

Dear Melissa K, Thank you for your review, I was sorry to see that your room was not to your satisfaction on this occasion, I hope you made our Reception team aware of this after arrival as they would have done their upmost to rectify this for you. It is unfortunate that some of the Spa facilities were out of use when you were here, there is never a good time for these things to happen and we do our best to get things up and running again as quickly as possible. I'm pleased to see that you had an enjoyable time and experienced exquisite food during your stay. We should always ask our guests about their stay when checking out and we have reminded our reception team of this since your comments. We appreciate your honest comments and hope that we can welcome you back in the near future. kind regards, Julie Bunce

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I have read lots of reviews about this hotel and have some thoughts to offer based on my own experience this week.
Reveiws complaining about being charged to use the pool I think must be from people who have just booked a room, not an actual spa day. When booking spa days, you get to use all of the facilities so investigate this before booking if it's the facilities you want and not just a room?!
The complaints about poor rooms must be from people who stayed in the yer to be refurbished room. We stayed in 306 and it was absolutely beautiful but had obviously not long been done. It is extensively mentioned online that the hotel.us undergoing refurbishment so maybe ask for a newer room when booking.
As for Covid safety, there is hand sanitiser EVERYWHERE in beautiful big units that must have cost a fortune. There are screens at reception and dots on the floor to stand on. They are running at limited numbers and didn't feel at risk. I would say the majority of people wore masks in the corridors, I mostly did except in reception where it was very hot and I was having flush. Tables had been moved apart to allow for distancing with exception of Hugos restaurant where some were closer than they should be.
I found the staff young but honestly, why make a big deal of that. The ones we dealt with were courteous and professional and all of them were consistently wiping and disinfecting surfaces etc.
Evening meal and breakfast was extremely efficient and tasty, Hugos service was much slower and we waited 40 minutes for our lunch after seating which is a bit long but it was worth the wait.
The saunas, steam room and Nordic suite were covid closed and I should like to return to sample these areas. We cycled which was fun and the cave and Jacuzzis were lovely and only allowed 2 at a time.
I honestly felt this hotel had done all it could to reopen safely and I felt very safe here. There was a constant supply of towels and robes and the changing rooms were spacious for all.
This is much pricier than my usual spa and lacks the intimacy but the grand spaces and facilities substitute that and I shall happily return here again.

We stayed overnight with the eat, sleep and retreat package. We paid extra for an early check in- which I feel is worth it. I had a full body massage which was lovely and relaxing- only negative is I didn’t have much of a consultation at the start compared to other spas, while a heated pad would have been nice as it was cold in the room.
We stayed in the Princess Penelope room, and I’ve got to say the new refurb has made the rooms look stunning, it felt well worth the money with little details like the cookies, hot chocolate and 2 TV’s provided.
The food was lovely, the lunch especially had a varied menu that wasn’t hard to choose from, However I felt the evening menu was limited for someone like myself who doesn’t like fish or duck. I chose the steak option however was a little disappointed with the cut as it was very chewy, while my friend had to send her’s back due to it being cooked wrong. The service was a little low a times and in some places it felt under staffed for the service you expect.
We took part in a legs, bums and tums class and loved it! The young instructor was super friendly and we had a great time. After we had chance to play some tennis and stroll around the gardens. We tried to do archery however it was fully booked so make sure you book things as soon as you get there. The spa facilities were well kept (however more comfy loungers need to be around the pool), the saunas and steam rooms were closed unfortunately during our stay because of covid.
The hotel felt very Covid safe, with hand sanitiser provided around the accommodation.
I would definitely go back as a treat to myself.

We enjoyed our stay but having paid £125 each per night I felt like it wasn’t quite to the standard of service we were expecting. Some staff were great but others weren’t as attentive as they could have been and seemed inexperienced (one was actually quite rude to me when I was ordering food and asked me to stop talking whilst she got my boyfriends order because the iPad wouldn’t let her take all 3 courses at once. This seemingly was not a problem for any other staff that weekend). Having worked in the restaurant industry myself I understand you can sometimes feel overwhelmed but there is absolutely no reason to not be polite to your customers. In a normal hotel I wouldn’t have even noticed but when you’re paying a premium you expect the best!
The ballroom food was spot on, the steak was very good quality and there wasn’t an ounce of fat on it! The day spa restaurant however wasn’t the best standard of food, some sandwich options would have been nice as I don’t really want a 3 course meal when I’m trying to relax. The food we did get wasn’t the best, the chicken was a bit dry and the charcuterie board was just missing little things like oil and balsamic for the bread. The other restaurant (Henry’s I think it was) was a great setting but had the worst Tiramisu ever, we noticed others had left theirs too. It was more of a cheesecake than a tiramisu and it was bizarre. The burgers however were spot on.
In terms of the room we were told that because of covid the cleaning staff obviously couldn’t come in the rooms - this actually suited us better. We were told they would leave fresh towels outside the room each day but we had to ask eventually, there was a 40 minute wait for towels in the spa on one of the days so we used our room towels. Having fresh towels to return to as promised would have been nice and a fresh bottle of water as we had one on the first night and none for the rest of the stay. The beds were super comfy and we appreciated having a king rather than a double. I also really appreciated having the option to stream to the tv in the room, I’m awkward and sleep with the tv on so it was nice to be able to follow my usual routine rather than just listening to Freeview.
In terms of the building, grounds and spa facilities it was brilliant and really felt special. If they can get their service and food to the same level as the rest of the building I will happily add the extra star

I attended Hoar Cross Hall for a 2 night spa break with my boyfriend from 18-20th August. We paid £680 for both which included the room, breakfast, lunch and dinner with full access to the spa and exercise classes etc.
We opted for an 11am arrival to the hotel where we could use the facilities etc however was unaware that we would be not able to access the room to check in until 3pm (we had actually visited the hotel a few weeks previously to make the reservation face to face but was not made aware of this disappointingly). Therefore, this involved us opening our suitcases in the entrance hall to fetch out all our swimwear etc in the midst of a big queue, to allow us to prepare for the spa, which wasn’t ideal. However, the reception taking our suitcases up to the room was a nice touch.
The spa itself was disappointing in all honesty. Half the facilities were not open e.g the detox room and sauna due to Covid 19 which would have been fine if there had been a discount in price as we did not receive the full service. Although we did feel safe and many guests kept to 1m distance measures, we felt like the facilities offered were not worth the money. The robes provided were clean and of good quality.
The room was gorgeous with a full back view of the gardens. The 3 course dinner was lovely, good quality food and we were never waiting for long. Be prepared to pay £13/£14 for a cocktail and £30 for a bottle of wine though which is to be expected for these types of places.
However the lunch and the breakfast waiting times seem to contradict themselves. It was clear that they want to get through as many guests as possible for lunch, the waitresses hound you for your order as soon as you sit down although the food is of good quality and Hugo’s restaurant is clean and of a calm atmosphere with other guests.
The breakfast experience was a shambles. Once sat down, we were ignored for 20 minutes before asking to place an order which arrived 25 minutes after. The coffee was cold and felt like it had been ‘sitting’ in the back for a while. Looking around we noticed several guests sending food back/ requesting alternatives which I think resulted in a manager being called to oversee the situation which isn’t expected due to the amount of money paid. Breakfast seems to be very short staffed compared to other sittings which definitely needs to be addressed for future guests as it took us 1hour 20 minutes to complete as we had to remind them several times as some items did not arrive. We complained at check out regarding the breakfast but was given no discount (anything would have been sufficient even £10).
Overall, it is a lovely house with beautiful grounds, but the price paid was not justified. It was our first time here but we will not be returning.

Dear mel654521 Thank you for your constructive review of our hotel and spa facilities. I am pleased to see that you found the hotel and spa to be of a high standard, although we are sorry that you felt disappointed by the facilities available to you given the current restrictions in place. We as a business comply with all government guidelines within the spa and hotel for the safety of our guests and have made every effort to notify our guests prior to arrival. I'm sorry if this was not communicated to you properly. Please be assured that your feedback surrounding breakfast service will be reviewed with our senior food and beverage team to ensure improvements are made. I hope that we have the opportunity to restore your faith in the very near future. Kindest regards Andy

We stayed for two nights in August on a full board/spa package. Food is excellent although not everything was available from the limited menu. The grounds, spa facilities and rooms are impressive but there were a few faults that you don't expect in this standard of hotel. Added together these took the edge off a wonderful stay. Our bedroom had obviously not been vacuumed or dusted for some time. You could write your name in the dust on the lamps and coffee table. The room was not cleaned for the duration of our stay and when we mentioned this to reception after our day in the spa they said it was too late to clean it but did send new towels and toiletries. There was confetti in the corridor on the 1st floor that was not vacuumed away. Dirty plates/food, glasses and bottles removed from rooms by cleaners were left in the corridor for most of the day. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner, which was plonked on our table after we had eaten our starter. We had to call the waiter back to ask him to uncork it. At both breakfasts we had to ask for a dirty cup to be replaced and on Saturday the table we were seated at was complete with crumbs and glass/cup stains right next to the sign saying it had been sanitised.
Drinks service was so slow in the bar that one time we gave up as we'd have been late for our massages. By late morning the smoothie of the day and 2 of the limited number of soft drinks in the spa cafe had run out. We booked a class that somehow was overbooked and the staff very kindly put on an additional alternative class for us when we volunteered to give up our places as the members were clearly not going to. That is good service!
We had a great break and this place has a lot of positives but it did let itself down with a succession of small, irritating faults.

Dear Worcesterfolk Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for your valuable review and feedback. I am so sorry to read that your stay was not quite perfect and for that I would like to sincerely apologise. At Hoar Cross Hall, we set our own standard incredibly high and to discover that we have fallen short on this occasion in certain areas is very disappointing. I will of course share your comments with my team for further review. I do hope you will consider staying with us again in the future. Best wishes Andy

My partner booked this stay for Valentines weekend and we wantes it to be extra special.
Unfortunately weather conditions meant alot of staff had called in sick which cant be helped and meant no treatments.
First impressions of the hotel, lovely entrance reception area, but lots of people queuing to check in.
Having queued for 20 minutes to check in we were then given lots of information on the complex and different rooms but have had prevuius spas where you are shown the changing rooms etc but were left to our own devices really.
Changing rooms were clean big and spacious, but nothing to remove your makeup, cotton wool etc which felt a little rubbish being a spa and having a cosmetic shop outside.
My partner had to walk the other side of the hotel to use a locker as all the lockers were taken, so again this was a little disappointing.
The main pool area was very busy but again we didnt mind this as we knew it would be busy but the surrounding of the pool was covered in floods of water no one around to clean around a little? Also my partner had forgot his sliders and we were asked for 6.00 for some flip flops ?at a spa? Loved loved loved all the rooms but just couldnt get on any of the snug beds all day and certain rooms were too busy, again we understood this as Valentines weekend.
Again no free tea or coffee ?which at previous spas i have had and we had to go back outside to use this facility.
Im obviously being picky here as the spa itself was lovely especially the water beds but the place was like a maze and a tour really would of helped tbh.
I just thought this spa was lacking the little things and maybe they need to look at how many people they let in on a day as it was definitely overcrowded.
All in all mixed reviews really.
Oh and forgot to mention had afternoon tea and this was delightful, service was slow again but food and room was amazing.

Arrived at 3pm to check in to room and use facilities (other hotel/spas we have been to let you use facilities much earlier than this so that is rather disappointing considering the cost.) Big Queue to check in, but receptionist was polite and efficient. Wallpaper and decor generally quite tired, peeling and stained wallpaper along corridors which was not a great first impression. When we got to our room, it was lovely however it was over looking the car park and door key cards wouldn’t work (again disappointing.)
There were big issues with the key cards, multiple people tried to get them to work and we were advised to go away and use the spa and come back and hopefully it would be fixed. (The whole situation had delayed us going down to the spa meaning we would only have an hour to use facilities before having to get ready for evening meal.) Went back to reception after using the spa and advised we would have to move rooms, we were shown our new room which was an upgrade however it had not been cleaned after previous guests had left. I found it very strange we were shown a dirty room. Our luggage was also not brought up to the new room after dinner like we were advised it would be, we had to go and ask reception again. Receptionist was rude.
Food was lovely and great vegan options which was nice to see. Spa was extremely overcrowded to the point where we struggled to use the facilities, all of the relaxation beds and water beds were occupied every time we tried to find one. People were reserving them with towels etc which was very annoying. We had to leave early as there was physically nowhere for us to sit and relax.
Lady who did my full body massage was lovely and very knowledgeable, one of the better massages I’ve had.
We weren’t asked how our stay was when we checked out. Overall it was a nice experience but I don’t think I would visit again.

Dear lizbW3018WT, Thank you for your review from a recent visit, it's pleasing to see that you received a warm welcome despite your unfortunate wait. The corridors in some areas are looking a little tired and in need of redecoration compared to the newly decorated rooms. This will be completed as part of our ongoing refurbishment after all 96 bedrooms have been refurbished. I was sorry to hear that you had issues with the key cards which delayed you from using the facilities and also that you were shown a room that was awaiting a housekeeping visit, not ideal situations I agree and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I am pleased that you enjoyed your food and approved of the Vegan options that we had available, the Chef and his team work hard to make the menu as varied as possible for our guests. Its unfortunate that you visited at such a busy time which limited the Spa facilities that you could use on this occasion, hopefully your full body massage helped you relax while you were here. Please accept my apologies that your stay was not quite to your satisfaction on this visit, we hope that we will be able to welcome you back in the near future when the refurbishment has been completed. Kind regards, Julie Bunce

I took my daughter and grand daughter for an afternoon tea treat for us all at Hoar Cross hotel complex.
This was our first visit on 23 Sept 2020. After a long wait to be shown to our table which was booked for 4pm and looked to be the only table not full of used dishes etc.
The one staff member was trying to cover the bar just outside the room we were in so another long wait till he brought two of the teapots (we had ordered 3) but no milk and after quite a long wait till he was back, we managed to ask him for milk, but none came than saw a young member of staff and asked him but no luck there so my grand daughter went into the bar area to find any staff, which was also very slow.
We eventually got some milk, but the tea had been on our table for over three quarters of an hour. Still no food arrived till after 5pm, the sandwiches were by now going stale. We asked for some cold water and eventually we got a bottle and were asked did we require glasses? How were we supposed to drink the water? after another wait we got glasses with ice which we had not asked for and did not want.
The place looked dirty and needed more than one staff member and a training boy.
We left very disappointed and when the reception staff asked if we had enjoyed our visit my daughter told them exactly how it had been and she was offered a free voucher for one afternoon tea at a later date. PLEASE why would we be offered that and we told them we felt it was an insult as we had such a poor time there. No staff to do the job with many folk from the spa popping in and out so plenty of customers to serve. The social distancing was not observed in this room at all, so we were really glad to leave to be honest. We had travelled an hour to visit Hoar Cross Hall and as we like spas and had wondered if we would go to one there in future, I am afraid we never asked for Spa details. The receptionist did say she would let her manager know about this. Could never recommend afternoon tea here at all which is such a shame as the outside of the house looked lovely.
Three very disappointed ladies

Dear sandymac2011 I am sorry to see that your afternoon tea with us was less than perfect, owing largely to the timeframe involved in receiving your meal and tea. Please be assured that this is not commonplace at Hoar Cross Hall and was due to unforeseen circumstances with staffing which have now been addressed. I would very much like to the opportunity to resolve this for you. Please contact me directly at andy.rathbone@hoarcross.co.uk and I will endeavour to assist. Kind regards Andy

It depends what you're looking for. I've been to a few. Carden spa is more "instagramable" but hoar cross is the best all over experience I've had. I'd argue with the new outdoor area, they becoming more "instagrammable" too. I'll be going back again and again.
Unsure about slippers but yes eating in your robes was standard when I've been.
Yes you can. Flip-flops around £6.00
