We stayed as part of a group recently - we were well looked after by the staff with efficiently served and tasty meals and a perfectly good and clean room. Not a destination - as by a busy road junction - but a good stay
This is my second visit to the hotel. The rooms are clean & comfortable, albeit not terribly exciting but the price is right. The restaurant is good (best hotel scrambled eggs I’ve had!). The staff are wonderful - professional, friendly, super helpful.
Avoid this destination. I went for breakfast and received a £60 parking fine as a thank-you. There are many alternatives nearby. It was stated that you can register in the lobby but there was no signage and the catering staff were unable to assist
So on Arrival some guy walking through the main entrance with a wheel bin surly there’s back door? As for the room was dirty and strong smell of dampness in the air and very dated. So went down to the Italian restaurant down stairs the staff very friendly and welcoming. Bearing in mind there was only around 6 people in the restaurant had 50mim wait for dinner hard work when you have a 4 year old. I ordered a authentic Italian pizza! I’ve had Chicago town pizzas better. My wife ordered club chicken sandwich, 2 bits of toast with over cooked chicken and burnt bacon and cheap bag of ready made salad slapped on the side honestly disgusting! As for the chocolate cake tasted out of date and tasteless, no ice cream on the side or cream literally just out of date cake! Avoid this place wish I’d slept in the car…
We recently stayed here for a short stay. The hotel and the amenities itself were great and just as you would expect from a Holiday Inn. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh tea/coffee available. What lets us down is we paid for breakfast for the two of us for the stay. On the last morning, we went down for breakfast and the host could not find us on her sheet. The host then proceeded to check on her system and told us she couldn’t find us. After some time, she then found us and told us it was just booked for one of us. We informed her this was not correct as there was two of us and we had paid in full and even had our receipts. The host then made a big scene whilst there was a queue now forming and telling me that she is going off her system and proceeded to tell me to come round and look at the screen. I did so but explained there must be an error. The host made a huge fuss and said she ‘didn’t care if there was 20 of us but it’s down as for one person only’. She then accepted us both in but wrote a note on her sheet and told us we may get ‘pulled’ at check out and that we would have to explain. At this point I was absolutely furious at her attitude and doing this all in front of everyone else at breakfast. I felt I was a school child being pulled into the heads office never mind a guest. After about 10 minutes, she returned back to us whilst we had our food and told us it was ‘sorted’ but then started muttering things under her breath. The host never apologised, even though we were right and clearly it was some sort of mistype or error, and completing deflected the whole situation without any remorse for how she handled this. On check out we checked out fine and there was no ‘pulling’ because we were correct that we had paid the whole time. Absolutely shocking customer service. We think her name was Jan but cannot be sure. Think she may need some additional training in customer service!…
Very nice hotel, here for 11 days had no faults so far other than the manager ( I’d assume ) was speaking to a new young lady ( blonde ) not very nice. It was clear she was new, and the manager did not need to speak to her co worker in such a disgrace way. In front of customers, she was a very nice young lady who was doing her best :)
Stopped here for a night after camping for 2 nights at the BTCC weekend at Croft. Greeted by welcoming staff on arrival, checked we still had time to eat before going to our rooms. Rooms were clean and of a good standard. Bed was comfortable enough but had to get my own pillow from the car. The food was quite good and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was exceptional with plenty of choices. Hot & cold foodstuffs and cereals available. Plenty parking spaces which was handy as I was pulling a trailer.
Lovely stay.. Arrived with a little trepidation after reading recent reviews.. However all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room had air con which was great. The bed was huge, room very clean. Coffee /tea etc and biscuits.. Plenty of toiletries and very clean. Are at the restaurant and although a couple of things were not available, the food was very good. Lovely waitress with a sense of humour!! Breakfast was fsb, great choice of hot food and continental, plus fruits cereals etc.. Would stay again if in the area..
I've stayed at this hotel many times over the last ten years so had no hesitation booking in for two nights on a recent trip to the area. To say it is not what it once was is no exaggeration. The room was fine, though on the hot side and with no obvious way of cooling it down, and the reception staff were good. That's where the positives end though. The restaurant used to be good, with pleasant staff who knew about food. But now, the menu is limited, the food that was served was more or less OK but was clearly a long way from anything prepared by an actual chef - more like a ready meal from a cheap supermarket. And staff were grumpy, arguing with each other and the clients. Maybe they had good reason to be unhappy with their working conditions of course. Breakfast was better than dinner, but only just, and definitely not worth anything like the prices charged, though the morning staff were happier. Disappointing to say the least, as it's a good location. I'm an IHG platinum elite member so I've stayed in a lot of these hotels and this one is no longer of a Holiday Inn standard. With a bit of sorting out it could be rebranded as HI Express, though I've stayed at many of those with much higher standards.…
Currently undergoing desperately needs modernisation in some areas. Rooms are spacious but then let down with little things like curtains not closing and loads of light coming in under door. Road noise is always an issue but I suppose we’re hotel is located, it is to be expected. Restaurant is currently a disaster zone, didn’t have half the things I wanted and the bar set up was a shambles. Staff could do with being briefed better about service and changes through renovations. Was planning to stay here for 6 x weeks for a Project I am doing but decided against it because of my experience on this visit, so found a much better alternative.
