We booked afternoon tea here as a treat. What a delightful place! And the locations isn’t too shabby either, up on the edge of the Moors. Not too fussy - just friendly and helpful service and a wonderful spread. And it was lovely to wander round the gardens as well. Highly recommended.

We took friends to the restaurant for lunch, we sat in the delightful lounge & had pre lunch drinks and ordered our meals. Sat in the dining room for lunch, food and service excellent as usual. The steak and Stilton pie was superb, served with plenty of fresh vegetables. It is always nice to sit in the lounge after a meal & have a coffee. It is like home from home, it has a lovely character. A traditional country hotel. We will certainly be returning!

We called in today as we were staying locally and some friends had recommended it to us. We were not disappointed at all! We were made so welcome, we chose our seats in the lounge and the man brought us a menu. We decided to have afternoon tea. The best in the land! So light and fluffy and a very tast chic tea. This afternoon was a bit of luxury and well worth the visit. So relaxing and welcoming. As one comment read in the visitor book ‘just like having a hug’. Thank you for a fabulous afternoon.

We went for afternoon tea and was pleasantly surprised. Sadly, because of the weather, we were the only ones their. The Grange itself is very olde worlde. We were shown into the sitting room where there was a very welcoming fire going. There are lots of sofas and tables . The staff were excellent and the food is the same. There was a nice selection of sandwiches, and the cakes were to die for. Would I recommend this venue? Yes, excellent .

We went for afternoon tea here and sat in the lounge area with our dog. The food was amazing, the staff were lovely and really friendly, and we ate too much. A fabulous proper afternoon tea with no short cuts taken. Everything super fresh and tasty just a cut above. The lemon posset was to die for. Brilliant place with brilliant food and brilliant staff. Thank you.

Such a lovely comfortable place to stay and ideal for exploring locally. We only managed to get a two-night booking but will certainly stay longer next time. Completely agree with the other good reviews and would add that careful attention was paid to a need to eat gluten-free. Loved the sitting area with lots of books and guides and local history pamphlets.

We picked The Grange almost at random off another travel website but were delighted with our stay. Considerate, thoughtful and friendly hosts, very comfortable, newly refurbished rooms and a wonderful garden. We wished we had been able to stay longer: the location also looks absolutely super! Oh, and the breakfasts were brilliant. Often overlooked, but for me Sunday breakfast can make a weekend break really special, and this was. Congrats to the whole team

The location, right on the edge of the North York Moors, makes this a wonderful retreat from the modern, frenetic world. It's quiet and peaceful and in August, the heather is spectacular. You can walk for hours on the moors (take a compass, it's easy to get lost even on a beautiful sunny day.) The hotel has a large and beautifully maintained garden, both the formal rose garden and the garden beyond are a haven. At the far end of the garden is a lovely play area. Nothing is too much trouble, for the people running this family owned hotel. From welcome to check out, they were considerate, friendly, accommodating and attentive. Our room (19) was overlooking the garden and very quiet and dark. No street lighting or sirens to disturb you here! The noisiest things are the pigeons in the morning. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a big bath and shower over with excellent water pressure and temperature. The toiletries are made specially for the hotel in Thailand and smell delicious. Lovely big, fluffy towels. Afternoon tea was as splendid as last year - I have found nowhere in the whole of the UK that does better scones (and we like our cream teas!). They are crispy on the outside, and light as a feather on the inside. Dinner was also delicious and the wine list is extensive. Breakfast, -- the usual continental and then hot, cooked to order. The bacon was especially good. There is a good range of outside seating, overlooking the rose garden and also a splendid, big lounge with comfortable sofas and chairs arranged such that different parties have comfortable areas to enjoy their chat and coffee / drinks. This is a luxury hotel so it isn't cheap, and you get what you pay for. I hope this will become an annual visit for us. I'm looking forward to returning already.
