We booked a one-night Spa break and we were very happy with everything. The package included bed and breakfast, use of facilities and a 25-min treatment in spa. It was great value for money! We had full use of the spa facilities for full 2 days (from the early morning on the day of the check-in and all day after check-out too) - there is a small swimming pool, a steam room and sauna as well as jacuzzi. The treatment: 25-min massage was great. The room in the hotel was a bit dated but nice too - big, comfortable bed and a bath. The breakfast was amazing - great selection and cooked breakfast available too! Both the hotel and the spa are a bit run down and you can see they could do with refurbrishing, however, for the price we paid we were more than happy with them. The hotel&spa is located out of town so best to drive there, there are a couple of lakes/reservoir behind the hotel which makes it feel like you are in the countryside - nice place for a walk, I imagine even more so in the summer/spring. We also had dinner at Laurel restaurant in the hotel - the food was amazing, really good quality!! Overall, very nice stay and we will be coming back.

We arrived at the hotel on Friday afternoon to be given such a warm welcome by the man on Reception, I'm only sorry I didnt get his name, we were upgraded to a Superior King room (412) which was really lovely. This was our 4th stay at Kilhey Court and once again we were not disappointed. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was spotless with a change of towels each day. We ate both nights in the restaurant and again were looked after really well. We were not rushed at all and both nights, Chantelle was very welcoming and looked after us. The meals we had were well cooked and breakfast had a good selection of items. (I can really recommend the mushroom omelette which I had both days). All in all we were really impressed with everything during our stay, we felt that the hotel had really 'upped their game' and we would like to thank all concerned. We will certainly return and I hope it will be in the not too distant future.

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by Mathew he was really friendly and very informative, his customer service was excellent, straight away we felt very welcomed and comfortable. We were staying in room 402 overlooking the gardens in the old part of the beautiful building very Art Deco, warm , immaculate oldie worldly but modern at the same time our room had everything you needed including bottles of water robes slippers and tea and coffee facilities, also a safe. We visited the spa which again the receptionist was very welcoming, my daughter had a facial back neck and head massage she said it was amazing. I went to the pool which also had a newly renovated sauna , also there was steam room And wonderful pool Again very clean and inviting. We then went for lunch and was completely blown away by the duty managers help re our lunch her name is Chantel! She was very friendly and extremely helpful she went over and above to facilitate our choice for lunch. Chantel also was helpful will our evening meal and was very happy to bring us room service. The beds were really comfy and overall we had a fantastic stay !!! We will definitely be back Donnella and kirsty

Stayed 7-9th January as attending a family wedding at a near by venue. Majority of the hotels guests were attending the same wedding. The wedding party started referring to the hotel as Fawlty Towers, the more people you spoke to the more people you realised were unhappy with the service, but we decided to try and make light of it as we did not wish to put a dampener on the proceedings. The brides family had a large table booked for dinner on our first evening as did our family. The service was diabolical. The restaurant manager didn’t accept our criticism , she certainly needs a lesson in customer service and to brush up her management skills. We required a high chair and could not believe how filthy it was, this is totally unacceptable at any time but surely at present cleanliness must be a priority, the second high chair was virtually as bad. When we told the restaurant manager she scolded a junior member of staff in front of us, first rule of management, you never reprimand staff in view or earshot of the customer. We ordered a bottle of Malbec wine which was left unopened on the table as they didn’t have a corkscrew, we asked for a bottle of the driest blush rosé they had and was brought a bottle of Zinfandel! We complained the service was slow to be told we were late for our reservation, we had been told by a member of staff to wait to be told to sit down. Food was ok, nothing special, my sisters Risotto was dreadful but we just couldn’t be bothered complaining again. Both families agreed our dining experience was appalling, mostly due to incredibly substandard service. My husband and I in room 108 got no sleep due to extremely heavy rain( not the hotels fault obviously) but faulty guttering caused a loud and constant drip on the exterior windowsill. I approached a young male receptionist the following morning and asked if the maintenance team could take a look at the problem, he appeared to avoid any eye contact with me and barely acknowledged me verbally. Unfortunately I did not have the time to take the matter further with him, but he’s another member of staff who needs urgent training in customer service skills. The same person actually upset a member of our party by personally insulting her, his comment was overheard by another friend who told him his remark was uncalled for. Other guests reported poor service with regards to the reception and their poor attitude. I could continue but I’m sure I’ve made my point. This hotel Is letting down the good name of Macdonald hotels badly. I really wouldn’t want to return, what a sad statement to make about a four star hotel!😠

New Year's Eve gala Myself and my daughter attended the NYE gala and had a fabulous stay. We had treatments in the Spa early on then checked into an impeccable room. We attended the gala with a beautiful meal, music and entertainment until the early hours. I had reservations tbh about attending a gala with the current covid but i needn't worry. All tables were well spaced and the service and hygiene of the staff was second to none. Lovely evening for everyone who were made to feel as if we were family by all the staff. Top class breakfast this morning before departure. Soon as next years Gala goes on sale we will certainly be back. Only one fault i could point out and this is no fault of the staff, more a nudge for MacDonald Hotels. Get your prehistoric computer system in the skip and get into the 21st century. The current set up is letting your staff down. Would certainly recommend and thanks again to the staff for a lovely evening.
