The Orchards Holiday Caravan and Camping Park offers a serene setting that captivates numerous guests, although the tranquility can occasionally be disrupted by lively events. Visitors appreciate the value for money, citing the cost-effective amenities, despite some remarks about the on-site shop's higher prices. The park's pools and pitches receive commendations for their cleanliness and size, yet some guests mention a lack of basic provisions, like soap in shower rooms. Overall, the attentive, friendly staff contributes to the well-regarded cleanliness of the park, with just a few instances of reported rudeness.

We have just returned from 11 nights here camping. The facilities are faultless and offer the best standard we have seen in 6 years of camping holidays. The staff were all friendly and helpful when needed.
The shop onsite was great and stocked a range of things that you might need and I didn’t find the prices bad either considering it is an on-site shop. My two children (13 and 11) loved the park and made so many friends in our time there. Such a shame the pool wasn’t able to open as with the 30degree heat it would have really topped the holiday off but understandable why this wasn’t an option with the current situation.
The only negative thing I can say, which is totally unavoidable was the wristband system for the toilets and showers. When we arrived I thought the system was great until one afternoon I stood outside for 15 minutes until someone came out with no wristband as they said there wasn’t any there. I peeked into the shower block and would have waited longer if there were people in there but they were totally empty. Someone had clearly taken the wristbands to ensure they always had one. On another occasion I took the last wristband as I entered and behind me a woman walked in holding one!? As I said this is not the parks fault as their system is a good one if everyone is honest enough to follow it.
All in all a fantastic site that falls silent after 11am and allows you to get a good nights sleep. The views are beautiful and facilities immaculate. We will definitely be back.

Good morning, Wow what a lovely review to read ☺️ We are so pleased you loved our site and that our staff were so great. We were very disappointed to have to close the pools, but as explained to guests, this was just too hard to accomplish successfully and effectively. We thank you for your understanding of this. We are aware that the wrist band system did not work out and decided to withdraw it. We would like to thank all guests that did adhere to this system when it was in place, but as with anything new, it takes a little while for guests to become accustomed to it. Therefore the decision to with draw the wrist bands made most sense, and we asked guests to use common sense in our facilities block. Other than this we are pleased everything was great for you, and hope to see you again for another holiday in the future.

We spent 10 days here with my young family and had a fantastic time. The caravan was above expectations for the price we paid, my girls loved the whole experience. The caravan was beautifully cleaned which isnt always the case with other places I've stayed.
We spent time at the play park where the girls had a lovely time, it was plenty big enough and a real hit. I was impressed with how well they have the managed the current situation in the play area, it is the only park that I've visited since lockdown that has ample hand sanitizer. Most evenings we ate from the take away which we found was reasonably priced and a very good choice. Also the shop stocked all our needs and we thought the wine was very under priced! We enjoyed sitting out in the evening relaxing with a glass of wine enjoying the beautiful views.
The staff were lovely and helpful.
The park is ideally located to explore the surrounding area. We have already booked again for half term and we can't wait to come back.

This was our 6th stay at the the Orchards. We stayed in a Bramley caravan, so 1 category down from their best Roxbury caravans.

Positives
For School holidays, good value compared to other parks
Friendly staff
Quiet and Family friendly
Site is very tidy and cared for
Beds now made up on arrival, which is great!
Location is very good
Close to towns for supplies and visits

Negatives
Pools closed due to COVID. I do appreciate this, but it a major part of our childrens holiday experience, which lead to sometimes bored children!
Takeaway was not brilliant. Ordered cod and chips and received a small ish piece of clearly frozen over cooked fish and mushy chips. Very busy and had to wait for 90 minutes for food to be ready.
The shop was VERY under stocked, which was disappointing as we have previously bought a lot of our food and drinks from here to support the shop.
Parking is beyond a joke. Several inconsiderate drivers who dump their cars over possibly 2 spaces, making it very difficult to park on numerous occasions.
The Bramley caravan is showing its age, 1 sofa broken and the other with seats dipping.

Good afternoon, Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and appreciate the positives. As for the negatives I’ll happily go through some points for you. The pools were remaining closed for the 2020 season, and all guests were made aware of this. We really wanted to have them open as it is a big selling point for the park, but due to the last minute decision from the government that they indeed could’ve been opened, it was just too short notice. Reading the guidelines from the government, we could have only had 8 people in the pool at any one time, what with risk assessments, and devising a booking system to accommodate hundreds of guests, it just wasn’t viable for a small business to do this. We are planning to get the swimming pools open for the 2021 season, providing the government don’t do a sudden u-turn on their guidelines! The takeaway is operated by a third party franchise, so we therefore don’t have any say in their part of this. We will however pass on your comments to them so they can improve their standards. Stock levels for the shop have been varied throughout the season. Some items were hard to source, and others we had to dial back on due to the arrow system and queuing system to adhere to social distancing. This of course is something that we hope to change for next year, We are aware that the parking has become a nightmare on site, and this indeed will be looked at for the future. We have new owners and they have a 5 year plan to change over our existing caravans for new models. We are sorry about the negative aspects, but hope that you will return to us in the future.

This was our 5th visit to The Orchards. Previously we have come with our touring caravan and have found the site ideal with great facilities. With having teenagers we decided to give up the tourer and booked a static caravan at The Orchards. Sadly I don’t think we would visit again.
The check in was a shambles. Information provided was that due to Covid the check in time would be 4 pm. We readily accepted this and arranged our ferry time accordingly. We arrived at 4 pm and were told our caravan was not ready. The staff appeared stressed and dejected. We were told we would be called. We waited 30 minutes and then returned to reception as our caravan was locked and no sign of cleaning- so wondered whether it had been done but keys not returned to reception. I was told that if they called the cleaners it stopped them for doing what they should be doing! However a call was made and I was told the supervisor needed to check and would be 5 minutes. At 5.10 pm the cleaner made up the beds and left the door open so my husband could take our belongings in - however there was such a long queue at reception with a lot of unhappy customers it took another 20 minutes to get the key!
The cost of the holiday was not inexpensive however the caravan was dated and tired and the beds uncomfortable. We have two teens and booked for 3 adults and 1 child. Only one twin bedroom was made up. The bedding was damp and had to be raised with reception. The shower was broken and the caravan poorly equipped with extremely old Pyrex crockery I remember from the 70s.
The welcome pack was a brown paper bag of coffee and tea satchets. I have never stayed anywhere self catering in UK or abroad without a nice welcome gesture such as a bottle of wine or nice biscuits.
It was not made clear that towels/tea towels or shower mat were not provided and again I have never experienced this on holiday. We brought swimming towels but had to go out and spend in excess of £40 to buy more towels/tea towels and shower mat.
We appreciate it has been a difficult year for the holiday industry but it has also been a tough year for the customers and having spent in excess of £1000 I would expect better.

Good afternoon, I can only apologise for the issues raised during your stay with us and will touch on them individually. I am assuming your check in day was Saturday before last from how you describe it. Sadly this was an unforeseen issue that happened and shouldn’t have happened. I’m not sure if it had been explained by staff on duty, but we use a contract cleaning company who let us down majorly. We have since spoken to them to find out what went wrong and why it went wrong. Again huge apologies for this. With regards to the beds being made up, we do have a bed configuration box on our booking system so you can input how you would like the beds made up. The main issue with the contract cleaning company was linen supplies so unfortunately sounds like this was part of the problem. We are now under new ownership as of 2020, and the new owner is fully intent on replacing our older caravans on our hire fleet for new models. We replaced 8 caravans for the 2021 season and will be replacing a further 9 for the 2022 season. Sadly the supply chain for caravans has been hit massively, so we couldn’t replace more at once as we would run the risk of not having them available in time for the start of our holiday season. In regards to the welcome pack. This is something that we have started this year and I think a comment of receiving a bottle of wine or nice biscuits is a little over expectant. We are a private family run holiday park and for us to supply a bottle of wine to each guest would be at a big cost to us. I personally wouldn’t expect this of a caravan park, but would understand in a holiday cottage or something similar. In everything listed that is supplied in our accommodation, towels etc are not stated. We have never felt the need to list on our website that towels, tea towels and bath mats aren’t included, but I have since added this. I have also made our terms and conditions of booking easier to find. It has been an extremely difficult year for us and with massive losses last year and having to outlay many more cleaning materials to guests and Covid safety measures etc we haven’t added extra charges to the holiday fee to make up the shortfall. We appreciate that it is your right to write a review about your experience but we do tell guests that as part of our complaints procedure, an email or letter to the general manager is the best way to raise complaints. Regards, Bryony Butcher PR & Marketing manager

Just returned from a lovely weekend camping. Looking at the map when we first arrived, it looked like we were camped MILES from the shower block, but actually we were quite close. The pitches were a great size and we were down in the corner of the field, so nice and sheltered - it was a windy weekend!!

Check in process was speedy and also nice and easy. The shop was great, and we had a take away one evening which was DELICIOUS!!!! Highly recommend.

The only disappointment was the play ground, it was nice, but we thought it was a bit far away from where we were camped and also the entrance to the play area was on the main road, so wasn't very safe for the kids! They could do with having a play area down near the back of the field also so it isn't near the main road.

The pools weren't opened which I'm unsure why as other camp sites all have theirs open now. It was a shame, but we had fun anyway!

Toilet blocks were nice, they were kept really clean! My daughter loved the vanity room!! There were gelling stations outside all toilet blocks and I thought that everyone in general was being so respectful of keeping their distance etc, it was great.

Loved the washing up area, such beautiful views to admire whilst doing such a boring chore! :) It was nice and warm in there too, the last campsite we stayed on had an external washing up area, so it was really pleasant to have it indoors, and as I say, whilst admiring the countryside!!!

Great weekend. Would return.

Thank you so much for your kind words. With regards to the children’s play area, we are currently looking at options for this. As you point out, it is close to the main road, so we are looking at either placing fencing around the area or potentially moving it to a different location. It has been placed in this area so it is central for both guests using the touring field and our static caravans. W hope to see you for a camping trip in the future.

Location.

The campsite is situated towards the west of the island, about a 10-minute drive to the Needles or 5 minutes to Yarmouth. You can get to anywhere on the island in about 40 minutes max. The campsite looks over a valley and has nice views.

Facilities

I do not think I have seen a better facility block than the one here. The showers (6 I believe) are basin/shower combos which was nice, and good size especially if you have young ones in with you. The main block houses the men & women’s and a further washing block has 12 washing up stations with a fantastic view! there are washing machines, driers and ironing boards and irons.

Shops

There is a main shop for basics, a takeaway shop for food, and a horsebox cocktail bar in the evening. Sainsburys in Newport is only a 20-minute drive away for anything else. Even though the shop was closed the staff in the takeaway shop got me some milk and told me to pay in the shop the next day. Cannot fault the staff here, exceptional service.

The pitches

We camped, there are many hard stands for motorhomes & Caravans and grass pitches for tents all in the main fields. Most of these are EHU. The grass is very well kept, mostly flat, might be a slight gradient here and there. We asked to be pitched next to friends and we were all together on a run of 4 grass pitches. All pitched are large and well sign posted.

Overall

The booking process was easy. When a ferry was cancelled and we got bumped onto a later one, the office rebooked us onto the Southampton ferry (thanks Gemma !). Great communication throughout.
I cannot recommend this campsite enough. If you are going to the IoW stay here, you will not be disappointed.

We stayed here for a long weekend recently. Our daughter booked this and kindly invited us along. Our first impression of the site on arrival was good. It's a small site set in beautiful countryside with a nice indoors swimming pool and an outdoor one too. There is a small shop but this was a bit disappointing as it's not particularly well stocked. Basics available such as milk, eggs , bread etc but No fresh produce whatsoever. We stayed in a Russet caravan which was clean and tidy . It was a basic model and It wasn't very well equipped , for example only a small amount of cutlery, no small vegetable knife ( although perhaps that's because they don't sell vegetables) only one pillow provided per bed. etc.
The little gas cooker worked very well . There is a microwave and fridge with ice box.
The bedrooms were ok but somewhat cramped and of course the walls are thin so don't gossip about each other. LOL.
The shower room with a nice powerful shower is separate to the toilet which is useful but be aware that if you are either larger than average or claustrophobic you won't like the tiny loo space. If our 6 foot 4 inch son in law had been with us he would have struggled with the dimensions.
A special mention for the excellent take away. We had delicious burgers one evening and asked if a whole chicken could be ordered for the next evening. This was done for us and it also was delicious. Very good service.
It has been years since we've stayed in a caravan and it brought back happy memories of past times. The reason we chose a caravan holiday was because our 7 year old grandson has recently read about caravan holidays in an Enid Blyton book and desperately wanted to stay in one. This visit made him very happy. He loved the pools and playground. Also lots of open space to play .
I would visit again but I'd be more prepared with regards food supplies and I'd also opt for a bigger more modern accommodation .

Good morning. Thank you for your review, I’ll just touch on some of your points to give a little clarity to them! Our holiday caravans are equipped with the right amount of cutlery, crockery etc stated to the berth size of the caravan. Our Russett caravans are a 6 berth unit. If you fall short on items, we do ask that you let reception know so that they can sort this for you. We provide a wide range of essentials for you to be able to prepare meals in your accommodation and a veg knife is one of those items! We use a contract cleaning company that are supposed to check the inventory of each caravan during changeovers so it seems that on this occasion they haven’t done this and I apologise for that. I will be sure to bring this to the attention of the cleaning company so they can remind their team of how important this is. Our on site shop stocks a range of basic essentials, local produce, gifting and confectionary. In the heyday of caravan holidays our shop would be stocked full to the brim of fresh produce and everything else, but sadly in this modern world more and more guests opt for a supermarket delivery to the park so we simply cannot bear to see the waste of fresh produce that sadly doesn’t sell as well as it should. Apple tree takeaway are a franchise run takeaway so I will be sure to pass your comments onto them regarding the great service you received. Our Russett caravans will actually be leaving us at the end of this season to make way for our new Cameo holiday caravan range. Most of our Russetts are rented through Hoseasons, so if you booked your stay through Hoseasons we would encourage you to book direct with us for future breaks. This way we can cut out the middle man and deal with you directly and you will also find a wider range of accommodation options that may suit you better. We are so pleased that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to welcome you to the park again soon.

This caravan site is just lovely! The most peaceful and calm setting for a holiday, our first holiday since October 2019!! This site is in a village called Newbridge, about 10 minutes from Yarmouth where we got the ferry from Lymington. We did find we had to drive absolutely everywhere (lots of country lanes that didn’t feel that walkable, although we’re not used to that as live in a busy town!) but we did favour the quiet environment, it was bliss!
We booked a sovereign caravan that was pet friendly as we brought our dog, was also a disabled access caravan as well so had sliding doors and a ramp to the van and designated parking right outside the van. Caravan was clean and had all we needed in it.
Our kids loved the outdoor pool but it closed the day after we arrived so we made the most of it! The indoor pool is quite small and can get busy quickly at times but you produce your welcome card and the staff tell you how long you can have in the pool. There is a children’s play area next to the pool which says you must stay with your children, not all parents did this but that’s no fault of the park!
The shop is small also and does stock good produce but not a lot of it so we opted to go to the co-op that is only a 10 minute drive in freshwater or the Asda in Newport that is 20 minutes the other direction. The takeaway and bar is very good value for money, we ate their a few times and took dinner back to the van, you can call your order through and they let you know when it’s ready to save you a trip! Reception staff are lovely and helpful.
We had to gather up our linen in a clear bag and leave the main door and windows open at the end of our stay, which we did (covid rules of the site). They did not allow day visitors to the site either but again they’re being covid safe.
Overall, a lovely and relaxing holiday was had by us here, we will book here again if we get the chance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchard holiday Park. We thought the facilities were impeccable! Spotlessly clean and social distancing was easier due to the large open shower and wash facilities. It was also good that you provided wipe down antibacterial solution at each station so that we could clean before and after use. Thank you, your efforts were greatly appreciated and we would definitely come again.

Just returned from a lovely holiday on the IOW and stayed at the Orchards holiday park in Newbridge I.O.W. Stayed on a fully serviced pitch with great views of the sweeping landscape. Well priced shop that stocked all the essentials, Fantastic toilet blocks which are modern and clean, cannot comment on showers as I used the one in the Van. Fantastic Takeaway with very happy staff and chips to die for! Indoor pool is fantastic, outdoor pool could do with a little TLC. There is a pool room and table tennis room. I would suggest taking 50p's for the pool table as the shop rarely has them. Maybe change it to tokens is the way forward?
Pitch.
I had a 27ft Van which is tight to navigate in place in peek season. The pitch is on a Hard standing slope, so you will need spaces under the corner steadies to level.
The pitches also could do with some TLC as the are not clearly marked, also some of the stones are large and sharp which pierced holes in the awning carpet.
There also seem to be a confusion in your marked area of pitch. On arrival we were told to that there needs to be a fire break between you and your neighbours pitch which is understandable. However this does not happen and to the right of the Van your Neighbours are right up against you on the grass area. To make things worse they erected a swing ball with a 2" clearance from my Van and if the window was open it would most certainly of hit it. I did report this to reception but nothing was done. This site has the potential of being Outstanding and hopefully I will return in the not so distant future.

Response from Bryony Butcher, Marketing at The Orchards Holiday Caravan and Camping Park
Responded 15 Aug 2022
Good morning and thank you for your review. Great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and we do certainly hope you will return in the future. Just wanted to touch on the slight negatives you mention. When things have calmed down a little after the summer season our maintenance team will be working on the various jobs needed on the touring pitches. Pitch markers etc need to be replaced and this will be dealt with accordingly. The people with the swing ball were contacted and told to remove it but it sounds like they didn’t do this. If this pursues we ask that guests let us know again as we don’t have the staffing levels to continually check on these things and ensure that people have carried on doing something they shouldn’t be!. Don’t forget if you book your 2023 stay by end of November you will retain the 2022 price and then take a further 20% off! Kind regards - Bryony Butcher - PR, marketing & sales manager

Hi Sarah, I cannot post pictures here onto the answers section. If you can pop an email across to us then we will be able to send you the image directly. Tripadvisor guidelines will not allow me to post the email address for some ridiculous reason either! Head over to our website and you'll find the email on our contact us section. Instead of 'info@' replace this with bryony@ Kind regards, Bryony - Marketing & Sales manager
