Jireh House

Jireh House

These are photos from our stay at Jireh House Yarmouth. This room was £130 for 2 inc breakfast The hotel is in prime location for central Yarmouth. We did not sleep well due to the noise from revellers leaving destinations like The George and the newly opened Sally’s, plus the church bells on the hour every hour, the bin lorry men, the deliveries to local Harvey’s and the cars. The windows are as expected for a 17th century hotel along with the creaking floors and small rooms.

The Guesthouse is a period property well located in the centre of Yarmouth and a few steps away from the ferry terminal. The hosts were lovely and very accommodating with breakfast (I am gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian, yet they made a super breakfast for me, too). The only downside is the restricted time for breakfast 9-9:30 am but again, they were very kind and helpful in giving us a simple breakfast to have in the room early morning so we could catch our ferry at 9:05am.
The room was small but nicely decorated. Very quiet and blackout curtains, we had two nights of good sleep. Tiny bathroom but the shower worked well. Very clean as well.
No shower gel nor shampoo so if you don’t usually carry it with you, you might need to buy it. Also, no water in the room. But there is a very well stocked mini-market just across the road.

Thank you Jan and Gary for our lovely stay in Yarmouth. We stayed in room No.1 at the back of the guest house and loved the dual aspect views from windows and the cosy but comfortable feel. Thos room is going to be updated and redecorated in the Winter and we can't wait to come back again next year.

The breakfasts were perfect and when we checked out there was no rush for us to leave. The conservatory and small coutyard area is lovely.

One tip, if you are travelling by car you can normally park outside for free after 6pm and all day Sunday.

Oh and although we didn't eat lunch or an evening meal here they were always busy and its very centrally located. We ate at the Kings Head and The Bugle, both were very good but as Gary quite rightly said make sure you don't leave it late to eat out on Yarmouth.

I stayed at Jireh House as part of a large group of cyclists. The staff were very helpful and found us somewhere secure to store our bikes and were generally very helpful and available when we needed anything. The rooms were basic and clean and I slept well. The breakfast was cereal and Full English which could be adjusted to the needs of those in our group (we had some who were veggie and others who didn't like baked beans). There are excellent shops nearby and I particularly recommend the nearby Deli if you want to buy a packed lunch. I won't spoil the most surprising part of Jireh House, all I will say is look in the conservatory!

Yarmouth is an interesting place, it seems set up for taking advantage of tourists.
I booked using a popular internet hotels site.
The owners were friendly enough but they mentioned several times during my stay the cost the commission they have to pay to said sites. Fair enough, so my answer is don’t use them, just remember it’s not the customers fault.
Anyway £50 for a single room with shared bathroom, and no breakfast, was not good value. The only shared toilet was in the bathroom with a showers and it always seemed to be in use when I needed it.
I did agree to take breakfast the next day but the £12.50 I was charged was outrageous and clearly done to recoup the “commission” paid on the booking.
A sad experience for me.

My partner and I stayed at Jireh House for two nights in July. The hotel was booked solid so we stayed in the family room, which is at the top of the house. Although space was very tight, we were comfortable in our surroundings. The bathroom has a lovely large bath with a shower attachment. Breakfast was included in the price, and flexibility was on offer if you didn't want a full English. The hosts, Jan and her husband couldn't have been more hospitable and accommodating. We would certainly stay there again.

Tea Room only review. Extortionate price for a toasted sandwich. 2 slices of Warburtons medium white bread, barely toasted with a tiny bit of filling, a teaspoon of coleslaw and minuscule, very basic salad - that’ll be £7.50. Not even served with a smile.

We stayed in Yarmouth again very recently and couldn’t wait to visit Jan at Jireh. Her lunches and cream teas, cakes and evening meals are always freshly cooked, very tasty and good value for money. Jan and the staff are working as hard as ever and we value their contribution to our holidays twice a year. The night we had an evening meal with them (‘though on B and B and evening meal at our own hotel) was a delight. She had several Fisherman staying and we all enjoyed our drinks especially in my wife’s case with a pre-dinner drink from the gin bar! The lovely conservatory is a joy and we look forward to our next visit to the Isle of Wight. Thank you for making our holidays extra special as always.

Very much on the hurry-up I was pointed at Jirah the bday before I travelled down to deliver First Aid Training locally.

In mid August 2022 they did me a £55 deal, no breakfast, which helped me hugely.

Small room with a bed, shared facilities but certainly adequate; cleaning and comfortable. The pub next door did a very nice bar meal and I slept like a log.

Cheerful owners, parking outside and easy to find.

From the beginning the welcoming wasn't very friendly however we decided to ignore it and it soon became clear that they were short staffed. Eventually somebody else turned up to take our order, despite this being repeated twice, the order came back incorrect and and not altogether. The only good thing about our visit were the scones which were delicious, however because the order was wrong, we had double the amount we ordered and we weren’t served fruit scones that we originally asked for. This also meant that we were charged double for the extra amount we DID NOT request. To top it all off we ordered an espresso which clearly was a filtered coffee, one only had to look at the bottom of the cups to see as there was a lot of residue. Also, as we were finishing up, another customer near us had received their order incorrectly too, when asked for the missing sugar for the tea, the waiter rudely responded and didn't deal with the matter in a professional manner. Finally, when we asked for the bill, it took a long time for it to come, again the waitress was not attentive and rude once again. Overall we were disappointed as we were looking forward to a lovely afternoon tea.
