It was our first trip to the isle of wight and won't be our last. Staying in Plimouth8 West Bay Cottages , the accomodation was very clean and well stocked with lots provided, tea/ coffee and the basic essentials. The accommodation was a perfect size for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and the extra space on the rear garden with tables and chairs. The location was great for the small quaint town of Yarmouth and very close to activities of the Needles , Tapnell Farm Aqua Park and surfing at Compton Beach and hidden Gems like Colwell Beach.

All in all we loved where we West Bay Cottages and would certainly recommend it to friends , with a small park for kids and the onsite tennis courts . It's a shame the swimming pool wasn't open but I hear it will when it's been refurbished. It's a shame our holiday is nearly at an end but we will be back to the isle of wight 😊☀️👍🏻

We came to the Isle of Wight for a 5 day holiday and booked to stay here. Overall the stay was really nice, there were a few things that were a little hit and miss. The location was really handy- especially being so close to the ferry and the external green space were well maintained. We did walk in to a slightly unclean floor with some dead flies in a pile and the fridge was very smelly- but I think that is because it may have been closed for too long without being on. Though the fridge itself was very clean. All the kitchen utensils were very clean and ready to use and they left a small package of fairy liquid, sponges and soaps. The bathroom and bedroom were fine and the bedding was clean. You will need to bring washing up gloves and oven gloves as they are not provided. The WIFI is good and works well with no issues with connection. All the tech in the cottage worked very well e.g TV, Microwave etc… The shower was a little weak and made a strange noise if you turned the shower pressure too high, but wasn't really an issue as it was nice and warm. The cottage was also really warm and there was no issue with heating.

The place also has a laundry where you can do your washing, this was unlocked every day for us. They also have a tennis court and a kids play area which looked well maintained.

Overall, would stay here again for sure!!

Thank you 😊

We stayed at Pierpoint 1 a two bedroom cottage (more a bungalow). Two adults and a 11yo and 12yo who shared a twin room.

It was clean-ish. The pots and pans seemed to have remnants of previous food on it so had to be washed again. The dining table was sticky so needed a good clean also, but the rest of the place was pretty clean. No Netflix but it had a DVD player so a trip to a charity shop to buy a few cheap DVD’s kept us entertained (we left the DVD’s there for others to use!!).

The site itself seemed relatively empty seen as though it was half term but it was nice not allowing cars directly onto the site. It is clearly a real shame the swimming pool was closed as that would have been a real hit, but instead we played tennis every morning and evening and the courts were actually a good standard!! We didn’t see any clear recycling areas though which miffed us a little.

Location on the island was great. Nearby to Alum Bay, we also drove to carisbrooke castle which kept us entertained for a couple of hours. We walked to Fort Victoria which combined a few shops, complete with old style arcade games and a reptilarium. A coastal walk to Yarmouth (20mins) was easy enough and all in all it accounted to a good break away!!

Would we stay there again? Probably not as we did everything that side of the island but I would recommend it to others.

We stayed in Cape 9 two bedroom cottage. The site was lovely, in a really quiet place near to Yarmouth and the north coast. We knew the facilities were closed so although a swim would have been lovely we accept its best to keep them shut at this time. On arrival everything looked clean and presentable but as we looked around we noticed lots of corners had been cut. A later five o'clock check in was supposed to mean additional cleaning had been done with cleaners wearing masks and gloves etc. I spent the first hour of our stay giving the place another clean. There was hair everywhere and food still on the dining table and the oven was dirty. Cobwebs in every corner and hanging from the ceiling. Most of all the floor was filthy through the kitchen and living area. We contacted the office but it was Sunday so waited for a reply Monday, they said they would contact housekeeping and the owners to send someone in to give it a further clean and get back to us. We heard nothing back. During Covid this really is appalling, especially as they have a specific policy stating that this is their promise to customers.
I didn't want it to affect the rest of the week so we cracked on. I went to the supermarket and purchased additional cleaning sprays etc and did it myself. Hopefully the people who stayed after us got a better clean as the cottage is well equipped and comfortable.
Its such a shame, as the site and cottages really could be five star and I would love to stay again if they just paid a bit more attention to the detail.

Response from West Bay Cottages, Owner at The West Bay Cottages

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback about your recent stay at West Bay. We are pleased that you enjoyed the site and found it to be quiet. We are sorry that the level of cleanliness was not up to standards, this is not something that we expect form the on site housekeeping team. We did receive the email regarding the cleanliness in the cottage and please be assure we did pass this onto the housekeeping and we did instruct them to come back and clean the cottage for you, we were under the impression that they had done this, I am very sorry that they did not do this. It is not acceptable that you had to go out and purchase additional cleaning supplies to clean the property, The cleanliness of the property should be up to standards, and i can only apologise that they fell short this time. I have forwarded this feedback to the owner of the property and again, onto the housekeepers. We do hope to be able to welcome you back to West Bay again in the future.

I booked late with Island Holiday Homes who were helpful with booking. Unfortunately I had an issue with no hot water and although the problem was quickly fixed on Christmas eve once I contacted them, their customer relations were extremely disappointing. From arriving on 23rd December until late afternoon on Christmas eve, I was without hot water. Island Holiday Homes made a glib apology but failed to make any offer of restitution despite me pointing out that I had paid a lot of money for accommodation without hot water on arrival and for 1/4 of my stay. On Christmas eve I could not shower and had to boil a kettle to wash, wash up and shave. Despite emails, they were unsympathetic and refused to make any small offer of compensation for my unsatisfactory experience.
The chalet was warm, clean and comfortable, if not a little basic for the price, but clearly it had not been properly checked beforehand to see that hot water was provided. It was not value for money and I would not recommend it.

We rented 2 properties at a cost of £1000 each (Plimoth N4 & Cape A6) they were both very tired and old, stained, damaged but the biggest problem was that they were both unforgivably filthy. There was food left in the cupboard, a mouldy shower curtain, hair in the shower. There were no staff visible on site to complain to, when we got hold of housekeeping eventually a man came and didn’t do much other than offer us a mop and bucket, then after we’d left and I sent an official complaint suddenly he was the managing director. We went out and bought our own cleaning supplies, shower curtain and door mat just to be able to last our holiday there. No offer of this being refunded by the ‘managing director’. The owner of Cape A6 was much more professional and apologetic, she refunded some of the cost of the accommodation. We were grateful to have our complaint acknowledged.
We love the Island but this place really lets it down. I think it’s a shameful way to get money off people advertising something as luxurious and delivering disgusting filth.

We booked a two bedroom cottage for our 10 night stay in Yarmouth and everything about our stay here really did exceed our expectations. We were slightly wary as wouldn't normally book a resort with cottages directly next to each other, but we just couldn't fault it. It was so quiet despite being fully booked and other guests were so courteous and respectful throughout both the day and evening. The location was perfect and within a 10 minute walk we could enjoy Yarmouth, as well as a lovely walk across the fields to the beach. Fort Victoria is literally just around the corner and a fabulous spot for crabbing, as well as a wonderful gift shop which is definitely worth a browse. Our cottage was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more. It was extremely well equipped, comfortable with plenty of storage space. Shower was amazing! We stayed in cottage no. 2 and would recommend any of the cottages along this row -

We are a few days in to a one week stay at West Bay Cottages. From day one we have been disgusted at the state of our accommodation. We were advised four days before arriving that our arrival time had been put back to 5pm to allow for extra cleaning measures to take place. It would seem our cottage was forgotten about. Every nook and cranny is full of alive (and dead) daddy long legs and spiders webs (see photos). I pulled back my daughter’s duvet on the first night to find a dead daddy long legs in the bed! There are no staff onsite aside from cleaners and maintenance workers and only a telephone number to call if you need help. The pool, fitness centre and lounge/coffee shop which they advertise heavily on their website are shut and unlikely to open any time soon due to “unforeseen circumstances”. And we are still waiting for someone from maintenance to fix a leaking tap in our kitchen which despite two calls has still not been done. We’ve just turned the water off in the kitchen now and will be leaving the washing up for the cleaners to do. All in all a very disappointing property which we will never return to. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are saddened and very sorry to read that you did not enjoy elements of your stay with us; we do our best to ensure all our guests have a wonderful stay at West Bay and on this occasion we haven’t delivered to our usual standard. We can only apologise on behalf of the housekeeping team, the way you found the cottage is unacceptable and certainly not the standards we expect from them. Our housekeeping team on-site also do the guest services on behalf of the owners. I am very sorry that firstly the cottage was not cleaned to a high enough standard and secondly i am sorry that they didnt deal with the issues you encountered during your stay. With regards to the pool and the facilities, when you came to stay these were still closed due to the government not allowing us to open them, however you are correct these actually didnt open for the rest of the season. We do hope to be able to welcome you back in the future, if you would like to give us another try then please do contact us first. Thank you for highlighting your issues so that we can learn from them for the future.

The family have been to this holiday cottages complex numerous times and the reason for returning is that it's very good but it's changed ownership and unfortunately it's gone down dreadfully.
On arrival the reception was closed so we had to make phone calls to find our cottage and the key.
Eventually we got the keys but we were disappointed as the cottage was the last home on the exit road.
As we got in the first thing we were alarmed with was the amount of flies!
We opened all the windows, once we secured a key to open them, to let them out.
The inside windows were covered in cobwebs!
After asking for the place to be cleaned we discovered that it had been cleaned and then locked up back in July and it hadn't been checked out before we arrived.
The rear decking area was somewhere where you wouldn't want to sit! The bushes were overgrown with brambles and a large plank of wood just propped up against the bush.
Thankfully we were moved to a much nicer, clean and better located cottage and we thank Jackie for sorting this out.
The only issue was similar to the first one and that it hadn't been checked out before we got in so the ensuite bathroom stank but 2 bottles of bleach releived the smell.
The other huge disappointment was that the indoor pool was closed along with the club room. So nowhere to get anything to eat or lounge around having a coffee whilst the kids swam in the pool.
The indoor play area was also shut.
What's worse is that we were not informed before we arrived.
The response we had was that they didn't have those leisure facilities listed on the website!! But having visited this place many times before, we expected this club to be open. So disappointing for everyone.
After the previous great times we've had here, we certainly won't ever return.

This is our second visit to the Isle of Wight but we wish we’d of found this place first time round! Located just outside of Yarmouth the West Bay Cottages is near to so many beautiful beaches and the family attractions. The West Bay Cottage we stayed in was Munday H8 and it was perfect. Located on the end, opposite both the play park and the tennis courts with field views and an outside patio area it was just perfect for us. The cottage itself was clean and modern, it had a well equipped kitchen and comfy living area. Two really good size bedrooms with wardrobes and a shower room. There is plenty of parking too. The area is really peaceful, the grounds are well maintained and Simon and Rosa who are located on site are lovely and helpful, they even leant use tennis rackets and balls for the kids. Located just a short drive away is the needles, black gang chine and the crab fishing is great off the jetty in Yarmouth. We visited several beaches nearby including Compton (great for surfing and bodyboarding), Freshwater and Ryde which was a little further away but definitely worth it. We would have absolutely no hesitation in returning or recommending if you are looking for a peaceful get away or family break. Be sure to ask for the Munday H8 cottage and don’t forget to contact Simon and Rosa for the reduced Red Funnel Ferry rates. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

Hi! The resort is lovely. However, there are no shops within walking distance. The sea is not visible from the resort and a car drive away. There is a club house which offers catering/ cafe however in peak season this could get very busy. (We were there in March).

Hello, this particular site doesn't allow dogs....there are quite a lot of small children who play on a large central field so this is probably the reason.
