From the moment of booking online we knew that we were in safe hands. Great communication from the Tapnell Farm team with lots of information given about what to expect and what we needed to do for our arrival. Everything from maps of how to get to the Domes and what was on offer for our stay. Lovely location with great views from where we stayed across the fields to the mainland. The Dome tent was cosy and warm with everything we would need for our stay, from towels for the hot tub to wood for the wood burner. The kitchen was well equipped, having everything you would expect, with even the utensils and charcoal needed for the BBQ. With a small walk to the farm across a field which was just far enough away as not to hear the sounds from the farm park. Nice bar with great food and friendly helpful staff across the whole sight. We would recommend staying there and will be looing to stay again in the future.

When we entered the lodge, it was already heated, so it was nice and warm even on a frosty day. There were beautiful Christmas decs up. Immaculately clean throughout. We were there to celebrate a 40th birthday and received a complimentary cocktail. A lovely touch. The cabin was very spacious for seven people, and we could have fit at least two more. The fridge came stocked with a selection of local cheeses, Prosecco, milk, dips, and olives. The welcome hamper had crisps, biltong, crackers, and more. The bathroom had hand soaps and the bedrooms had a towel and hair towel per bed, impressively folded into an elephant! A hairdryer was in each room and there were extra blankets if needed. Tea and coffee provided. A few things need a bit of attention: the shower had a poor drainage system and did flood the shower floor easily. The dishwasher didn't work, which meant lots of washing up. Some of the lights were flickery. We had a wonderful stay, and we would definitely stay again! Beautiful setting, great staff, lush accommodation. Thank you to team Tapnell!

An excellent week in a safari tent for our family of 6. They really have thought of a lot, and that starts with the pre-arrival responses when you have questions, to organising ferry tickets, to the message on the day when your tent is ready. The tent itself and the presentation of it by the housekeeping crew is quite something, and what a setting for it! Possibly the best outlook you could ask and plenty of space in-front for the kids to do their stuff and for the adults to make fire in the pit or BBQ – logs and charcoal supplied, so no excuse!
The tent has everything you need and lots of nice touches to respectfully remind you of farm's eco origins and drive for sustainability. The layout is plenty for a family of 6 with more on top and the beds are very comfortable. Heaters and electric blankets keep the chill away should it arrive.
A separate loo and shower provide plenty of hot water, and with towels and bedding provided, you really don't need to bring much other than yourselves and a bottle or two.
On the farm, the Aqua part was a bit hit for the kids and the 'best' one they'd been too. We ate at The Cow a couple of times and it's improved a lot since we were last there and excellent! Worth booking anything you might want to do well in advance to avoid disappointment.
A big thank you to the team who deliver an experience more than simply a night or two on the island.

I am never one to normally leave a review, however we had such an amazing time I couldn’t not!
Three of us, 2 adults and a child, stayed in one of the domes (4). It was absolutely fantastic! We loved that we could come away from the main area to a place that was so quiet and peaceful. There was plenty of room for us and we could have easily managed with 2 more children in the dome too. The dome was spotless (no spiders as per an earlier review) and the kitchen was well equipped. We appreciated the milk, water and biscuits on arrival too! The beds were so very comfy and meant we all slept fantastically all week.
Tapnell farm was beyond our expectations also. The set up is amazing, well maintained and our son had an absolute ball. I would agree with an earlier post about having to pay in to the farm park given that we were staying at the location and even though the price is reasonable (just under £40 for the three of us for the week) this would be a lovely gesture given the overall price of staying in the accommodation. Hopefully this is something that can be reviewed.
The on site farm shop is the best on site provision store we have ever been to and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of what is on offer.
The aqua park was brilliant, as was the football golf. It was great that we were able to have a discount on these activities whilst staying.
The Cow was a brilliant place for food and the evening entertainment was fab.
We enjoyed it so much we are going to book again for next year tomorrow!

We had an amazing time. The safari tents were warm and snug. Electric blankets, and radiators kept the chill off the cool October evenings. The kids loved the animal towels when we first arrived a lovely touch. And there was nothing better than laying in the hot tub at night watching the stars.
Only a couple of very minor improvements, would be to have fire tools / gloves, to help stoke the various fires, and also something to help with cleaning / rinsing out the hot tub, a long mop / sponge or shower head type thing.
But overall definitely recommend a stay.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! We're thrilled that you and your family enjoyed the cozy comfort of our safari tents and appreciated the little touches, like the animal towels—it's always our goal to make your stay special. There's nothing quite like a night under the stars in a hot tub, and we're so glad you were able to enjoy that! We also appreciate your helpful suggestions regarding fire tools and a cleaning aid for the hot tub. We will certainty add a fire tool. Thank you again for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back for another memorable stay! Warm regards, Tapnell Farm Accommodation Team

We had a wonderful family holiday here on the isle such a beautiful spot and the Pod was just what we wanted for our family of 3, perfect location and the hut had everything we needed with fantastic views across to Freshwater bay. A great base to explore the island and our 11 year-old loved the park and animal encounters, the aqua park was excellent as was the food at the cow restaurant on site. The staff were all super helpful and friendly I would highly recommend!!

We stayed in the Dome Meadow and it was lovely. The shower and kitchen facilities are excellent and the dome has a lovely feel and is spacious enough for 2 adults and 3 kids at least. Tapnell Farm itself has something for everyone and new features are added every year (e.g. the Wrap Shack for people who don’t want a burger at The Cow, Football Golf, basketball hoops) It is also very close to Freshwater Bay which is beautiful and a good place to swim or start a coastal walk. One thing we really appreciate is that they don’t overload us with information - there is enough info about where everything is but not hundreds of signs; we’ve stayed at several places where everywhere you turn is another sign about coffee granules in the sink or extinguishing barbecues. Here, there is a huge pile of wood, some matches and firelighters, a pizza oven, firepit, bbq, and wood-fired stove and they leave you to get on with it. It’s really pleasant.

Tapnell Farm gave us a great experience right from the moment we booked with them. This included booking our ferry crossings for us and texting us to say our accommodation was ready and waiting early for us. We travelled as two mums, five children and a dog. We stayed in a modulog and a pod between us. The pod was very small for 3 and the dog but incredibly thought out with electricity, constant hot water and very comfy beds, we slept well for our four night stay. There was plenty of fire wood/lighters, toilet roll, towels etc. We ate at The Cow a few times and all enjoyed our meal, and received very good service, the love music was a lovely touch.

Hi! Thank you for your review. It sounds as though you all had a lovely time, our summer evenings on the green with music are great fun. You mention that your Pod was a little small as you had your dog as well, should you be able to stay with us again we would recommend on of our Cabins if you all wish to stay together or 2 Modulogs next to each other. All the best

When on the island we tend to be out and about. Thus we’ve never fixated on accommodation, as we are rarely there. Tapnell farm is a great place, especially for kids, as there’s so much to do. It’s modern and clean. The staff are engaged and helpful and the on-site food at their restaurant - The Cow, is really good as well. We stayed in an eco pod. Everything was clean and modern. Powerful shower and although it was unseasonably cold on 11/4, the heating was more than adequate leaving my daughter and I cosy. Some nice touches like matches left for the barbecue outside (we didn’t get to use it) and two pints of locally sourced fresh milk in the fridge. The pods are small, but the clue is in the name and accommodation here includes subsided ferry crossings making it little more expensive than an austere and rather grim Travel Lodge/Inn. Some real care has gone into design here. They deserve every success.

We stayed for two nights with our two young children (1&3) in Dome 2. There are five domes in total. It was a very peaceful experience with beautiful views, the dome is a good size but it would be a squash with 4 or 6 adults.
You have to like spiders!!! Our dome was full of them! Although they say the Cow’s restaurant is open for breakfast, it’s not open until 11.30am! Regardless of paying £350’per night you still have to pay the full entry fee to the farm. Although it’s valid for your stay, that is a bit cheeky.
As mentioned previously on other reviews there are two entry times and everyone has to leave at 1pm, so as you can imagine there where a lot of disappointed children wanting to stay as there was still so much to do. That’s seems a shame and with Covid in the distance a bit pointless.
Would we return? Not to the Domes but I’m pleased we hade the experience.

Hi Sophie. Thank you for your review. Its great to here that you enjoyed your stay in one of our Domes and enjoyed the stunning views. Guests are charged a one of entrance to the farm park which then allows you to visit as many times as you wish throughout your stay which makes it great value. You mentioned in your review that the Cow restaurant is advertised as being open for breakfast. As we do not currently serve breakfast at the Cow it would be great if you could email us directly to let us know where you have seen this publicized. The restaurant does open at 1130 for lunch. We hope that you are able to return to Tapnell Farm as it sounds as though your children enjoyed the farm park. Maybe next time you could try one of our Cabins, Modulogs or Cottages. Kind Regards
