The Bugle Coaching Inn is a delightful 16th Century Inn, steeped in history and charm. We are situated in the heart of Yarmouth, a busy, sailing, fishing Town, in The Square. We are a stones throw from the ferry terminal and bus station. Our busy Pub has lots of nooks and crannies, catering for everyones needs. We have a separate dining area that offers table service where booking is essential. The rest of our large pub is open to all, with a large conservatory area overlooking our courtyard garden and two front dining areas looking over the bustling square. We have two large gardens, which are full of beautiful flowers, and is bathed in sunshine all day where everyone can enjoy dining 'al-fresco'. Our talented team of Chefs have created a fine menu, and extensive specials board, full of locally caught seafood, straight from our harbour. All our food is locally sourced and seasonal, and lovingly prepared by our kitchen team for you to enjoy. Our seven newly re furbished letting rooms are over the first and second floors. There are stairways to these rooms, and due to the age of the listed building, we have no lifts etc. Our rooms are sympathetically decorated to the age and atmosphere of the Inn, with sloping ceilings and low eves in some of the rooms, all adding to the charm and character of this wonderful olde Inn. We offer a very popular full English breakfast menu, which is included in our room tariff. All our rooms are en suite, with flat screened tv and wi fi access. Our friendly, busy Inn reflects the relaxed, unique atmosphere of this pretty fishing town, and we hope that you enjoy your stay with us, John and Claire

Our second stay at the Bugle. Compared to a poky room last time this one was huge, but with very tired decor: peeling paper, cracked bathroom tiles. It was reasonably clean though, well equipped, comfy bed and a great outlook onto the historic Square. The street noise wasn't bad, but the Bugle's signature noisy plumbing made up for it, roaring periodically through the night. That said, rooms are very cheap compared to most places in Yarmouth. The evening meal was lower quality than we've experienced at the Bugle previously, but the dining area is still charming, with historic snug corners or a more modern spacious area. We stayed midweek and they only serve breakfast on weekends, a pity as the breakfast was a highlight of our previous stay. It's dog friendly - indeed some of the pub regulars love dogs so much you have to be careful your pet doesn't get overfed with treats from the bar.

The Bugle is a lovely old place and couldn’t be more central , although Yarmouth is not exactly a big place so everything’s pretty central. The pier is very close and the ferry just around the corner. We had a room on the top floor which was charming , very clean and tastefully decorated and standing on tiptoes I could see the sea. The TV cable does not fit the back of the TV and is therefore pretty unusable and they do not provide the option of breakfast except at weekends but we ate dinner and the food was good , solid fare at a reasonable price . Their beers are well kept and the staff are very helpful and friendly and will recommend where to go to get breakfast.

A very pretty pub. The staff were not the happiest or friendliest we have encountered and the food was variable. The meat dishes were generally very good, although the pie crusts were tough and inedible (filling was delicious.) the Mac and cheese was quite simply the worse vegetarian meal I have been served for a long time. It was very spicy hot (two hours later my mouth is still tingling), the sauce was thin, and you certainly didn’t get any paprika or smoked cheese. I felt it also needed a side salad or garlic bread for the £16 price tag. The hunters chicken also had a real kick to it which wasn’t enjoyed, although if you liked spicy food you may feel differently. Puddings were all good.

Food was horrendous.
Vegan Bolognaise. No seasoning at all, when asked if we could have some we were told it was vegan and given some oil.
Ploughman’s bread was just defrosted, onions were off.
Weren’t told of optional 10% service charge.
Such a shame.

Already written a review but for some reason it does not show when checking reviews. Worst meal we have ever had. Steak very very chewy & pricey for a tough bit of meat, pizza burnt - one third burnt had to be cut off & left on plate, lasagne totally tasteless & I only ate three forkfuls. Nobody checked out table during the meal & they even had the audacity to add 10% service charge (voluntary)after I’d told the waitress clearing the table how disappointed we were. Wish we’d only gone in for a drink as pub is quite quirky & drinks were ok. Manager looked a misery & that was before I had a moan. It was the worst part of our holiday & definitely would not recommend eating there.

We've known the Bugle for decades. Probably a lot more hits than misses, but a few downs over the years. If you want lunch in Yarmouth early January, you are confronted with every hassle possible. Chef on holiday/shut for refurb/rather expensive/packed up/shut for some reason unknown, so we opted Bugle as pretty well our only choice. It was a family birthday. Would it work or would we be disappointed? I can say that we had a great time. Happy staff. Good food. Fair prices. You can only speak as you find. It wasn't massively busy. Tough times still for everybody in the trade. Great to get a good result and have a really enjoyable lunch. The Bugle probably offers something for everybody at reasonable prices.

We used the restaurant whilst visiting Yarmouth. The service and food were excellent. The waitresses were amazing. We had some very difficult USA customers behind us who sent back their drinks, sent back their main meal (which incidentally looked amazing and I would have gladly eaten, but couldn't afford it). I volunteer at a cafe and have never experienced such awful customers. Had I been the waitress, they may well have been wearing their drinks and food. However, the waitresses continued to smile, changed the drinks and brought a different main course without any hint of irritation. I was horrified by how wasteful these customers were. Congratulations on the staff training and the excellent customer service provided. I was so impressed with their patience and tolerance. Despite the situation they were polite and courteous at all times. They deserved every tip they got that evening! I would definitely go back. The food was great and the service outstanding!

My wife had fish and chips. Battered fish clearly cooked from frozen and was soggy and undercooked. Chef said it was good. I had pork, tasty with nice but meagre sauce, so dry. Much was made in the menu of the crackling. This looked like an ice cream fan wafer, clearly bought in, and literally inedible. The waiter said leaving a tip ‘optional’. So I didn’t add one, only to later discover that menu prices were not charged prices. Menu prices are inflated by 10% on the bill. This was stated at the head of the menu, in fine print…. Will I ever go there again? Guess

Meet and greet was 100% but after showing us to our table she said a colleague would be along to take our order. They never appeared and I had to flag down a passing member of staff to enable our order to be taken.
Even then, it took 20 mins for our bottle of wine to appear. Dinner was reasonably good tho' the roasties were overcooked and the stuffing was......hmmm,unusual.
When paying the bill there was no reference to a 'voluntary' service charge of £4.95 which I would not have paid, as we received no service wotsoever during our visit. I did raise this in direct feedback to the establishment but, they have never replied.
I did enjoy my visit.....due to the company, the meal was reasonable and plentiful but, not sure if/when I will visit again 🙄
They were not overfully busy soooo, no excuse. Didn't help as a later table adjacent to us received 200% service 😐

Living near to this Restaurant/pub we visit fairly often. It's a beautiful building in the lovely location of Yarmouth.
We have eaten in here many times, taking friends or just as a family, I have had one meal out of around six that I really enjoyed, however my husband has enjoyed the majority of his meals. The last time we went my daughter had the worst hamburger that my daughter has ever been served up, it was inedible, I did tell the waitress but she just said she will pass the feed back on. I also noticed this summer the huge price increase on the meals.
The one point that I would really like to mention is that some of the staff are not friendly or welcoming, particularly one of the male bar tenders, who can barely muster up a grunt at you, for front of house it's not very appealing.
The inside is quirky & lovely, I think the pizza menu is meant to be very good but for a really lovely experience all round There's a wonderful establishment just round the corner.

We work really hard here and have so many wonderful reviews, if you look on our Pub Tripadvisor, as you left your comments on the hotel one. I have spoken to my Head Chef. This site is an easy place to slate small businesses, damage many I expect. We did speak to you at the time of your complaint. We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us, and at Bembridge and at Cowes. I can only apologise once again? We are a happy, hardworking Pub, we please so many customers and take great pride in our work. Tripadvisor gives us the chance to reply and defend comments. I am sorry once again you did not like your experience with us....and Cowes ...and Bembridge...can say no more.
