We were fortunate enough to celebrate our wedding anniversary here this weekend , staying in one of the deluxe seaview suites. The sea is literally under the terrace where you can sit mesmerised it’s constantly changing colours and sound all day long (if you don’t want to see anything else on this beautiful island ! )
Everything is brand new having undergone a full rebuild/restoration and the finish, lighting , interior colour choices , bed linen , crockery and fittings are second to none. We were made to feel very welcome and special by the wonderful staff ( shout out to Vicky? From reception and the lovely gentleman on seagull duty) which is what you want from a luxury break and nothing seemed too much trouble for any of the delightfully friendly, dynamic and caring team .
Breakfast is excellent, with a great range of cold options and cooked , the restaurant has a large choice of freshly , well prepared dinner options .
Rooms were impeccably serviced everyday and the hotel is perfectly located for visiting this part of the island ( Totland bay, Yarmouth, Saint Agnes church, Victoria fort country park, Mottistone gardens etc etc ) including the Tennyson monument and coastal walks ( direct to the needles)and bus routes right outside the hotel door .

Having been previously to the "old" Albion, we had waited and followed the video progress of the recent refurbishment with great anticipation, determined we would return, at least once, to see the final result. The location alone deserved this facelift and wow, it has been a true pleasure to return. Without exception, ALL of the staff are welcoming, interested and anxious to ensure relaxation and comfort without being intrusive. Food was of high quality and perfectly cooked . For us, (who have been eating all day on holiday, as you do!!) with smaller appetites we were readily offered 1/2 portions of anything or the younger guests menu. No request was refused and this was the hospitality offered by all staff throughout the hotel. Whilst we visited other areas everyday, we were happiest returning and relaxing on the balcony enjoying the unspoilt beauty of this beautiful hotel and location. Already can't wait to return.

We have recently stayed at the Albion for a number of nights. The Hotel has recently opened after an extensive renovation.
We booked a coastal suite on the second floor and were not disappointed.
The sea view was breath taking and we had our own furnished terrace to admire the view from.
Our room was tastefully decorated and provided every amenity you would require. All the fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard. There was a separate seating area where we could relax and have a coffee or a glass of wine which was kindly provided as an anniversary gift.
However where this establishment really shines is the staff. All were extremely helpful and friendly. Offering advice on where to visit, how are day had gone and really going out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. Nina and Lawrence, part of the restaurant team were in particular extremely professional and friendly. Always going the extra mile to ensure we had everything we required and ensured all was well with our visit. The members of reception were again really professional and made our stay one to remember. Please pass on our heart felt best wishes and thanks.
We had a fantastic first visit to the island and we will definitely return in the near future. We will book the Albion without hesitation.

Strange place. Such a perfect location ruined by mediocre, overpriced food and Fawlty levels of service. There’s a huge bar inside the vast restaurant but you are not allowed to order a drink there even though you have a reservation. You have to order at the bar next door and then walk back, with your drinks, to where you were in the first place. After arriving very early for our booking we were told we would have to wait ‘til our booked time as nothing else was available. 90 minutes later we were seated at a table that had been vacant the whole time. Our main course then took a further 98 minutes to arrive. When we asked where the food was we were told “all the food is freshly prepared”. Naturally, I was disappointed to learn it wasn’t served stale. They offered no apology, no reassurance, no explanation. Just a strange response from a strange place!

I'm so sorry you had a strange experience. The bar in the restaurant is a service bar for restaurant service, as a result it does not serve customers generally speaking. As you had arrived early and we could not take you to the table at that time we would always invite you take seat on our terrace and we would bring you a drink or offer you a seat in our Cabin bar where you can also get a drink until your table is ready in the restaurant. It is not so much the availability of the table that you would wait for it so the the kitchen can cook the food to order as every dish is prepared fresh and cooked as the order comes into the kitchen, hence why we only allocate so many diners per set time as to make sure there is not a long wait on dishes being prepared. Apologies for such a long wait for your food to arrive but I can see you are counting from the moment you were seated until the moment you paid the bill as 98 minutes from our order system although I do agree a 30 minute wait from starters to mains is still too long. We are a new business, with a very new team, with a new kitchen and a new menu and some times we will not quite achieve perfection 100% of the time but I can assure you all of our team our committed to striving for perfection. Many thanks for your constructive feedback Mark and Gayle

This hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard on an amazing seafront location. I live on the island and have been watching the hotel taking shape.
Very excited about having dinner on the 4th August. They certainly talk a good game. The 2 main courses were without doubt the worst meal I can remember, if this is being run by a top chef these meals shouldn’t have left his kitchen.
Very disappointing one 🌟

We live on the IOW and have watched the renovation of the hotel with interest. Yesterday, we drove to the hotel to have afternoon coffee. Usually, we would park in the nearby pay and display when we are in Freshwater Bay but it was full so we thought we’d see if there was actually space in The Albion car park. When we drove in, the car park was no more than a third full, so plenty of space. We made our way to Reception and we were told where we could go for coffee. We mentioned that we had parked in their car and the receptionist told us that we would have to pay a £35 charge. We reminded them that we had only come for coffee (although it was also a chance to look at the menus with a view to returning to dine) and probably wouldn’t be there very long and said that their car park had many spaces. There was no movement on the £35 so we left. Today, I have rung the hotel to check that this policy is correct. The manager confirmed that it is correct. I told him that this must be one of the most expensive car parks in the country. I understand that they don’t want people abusing the length of stay in the car park but maybe if you are not dining, there is a maximum stay of one hour. We won’t be returning to dine (apparently this fee would not be applied if dining) as I’d rather give our custom to establishments where they are not trying to fleece their customers.

I did speak with you and explained the reason for having the charge for the car park. There is not a great deal of carparking in the local area and we want to make sure all hotel guests either staying or eating with us have a space available. If we were to make the car park freely available to anyone even just having a coffee then we cannot guarantee enough spaces for guests staying or eating. Hence we took the decision to make the car park "expensive" enough for people to not want to use the car park. Many thanks Mark & Gayle.

I don’t usually review places but feel this needs to be said.

Been to the Albion twice now both times for food and must say I’m completely underwhelmed.
The food is very mediocre and not consistent fish of the day tiny portion the dal special was just a small bowl of slop with some dry flat breads for £22 the burger is nice but first time I had this it was cooked perfectly the second time the bun was like cardboard and the burger dry.
The staff are great and very friendly but still need some more training or direction with understanding what’s on the menu and specials as there’s inconsistency between different servers with what’s on the specials.
The hotel looks amazing and is a great addition to the area but looking great isn’t enough when there’s some amazing places to eat over the island and locally they definitely need to up there game or people will stop coming.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Albion. This time it was for their New Years Eve party night.
Mark, Gayle and their fantastic team left no stone unturned and looked after us so well. The 4 course dinner, champagne, wine, Live Band and Casino were excellent and there was a great group of other guests staying at the hotel.
We stayed in the Albert room/suite which was one of the best and most comfortable rooms we’ve stayed in and even had a double shower. The view from our balcony terrace was breathtaking and particularly in a force 8 with the waves rolling in to Freshwater bay !
The whole hotel has been refurbished over the last 18 months and the quality of all the finishes and fittings was first class.
We will definitely be back in the summer.

Expensive and underwhelming in terms of quality and quantity .

Lunch for 2 was £100 . For that we got a very average fish pie which was far more potato than pie and a nice grilled plaice ( though the server thought it was sole) somewhat spoilt by the pool of oil and butter. 5 carrots as a side which cost £5. A nice but small portion of hummus.

Menu was short and not particularly varied. No provision for smaller appetites or bar snacks.

Very slow service despite the restaurant being nearly empty.

Asked for potatoes and were told there was chips and mash but not boiled potatoes ‘because the delivery has not arrived’. In itself this tells you that most of the menu must be pre cooked and delivered rather than created from scratch on site. The aforementioned fish pie had loads of mash on top but it wasn’t browned so there was no real texture.

One sign of lack of attention to detail is the ad for a Xmas package which starts off with ‘from £950 a couple’ and finishes with ‘from £950 per person’.

On the plus side is the lovely view. But you can get sandwiches from the excellent cafe across the road and sit on the front.

London prices are fine but you expect rather more given the wide range of alternative cafes and restaurants on the Island.

My wife and I visited for three nights for our wedding anniversary and we had a great time. Stunning location and views across the bay. We stayed in a Beach Room, which was super, so we were able to enjoy the views throughout our stay and relax on our sun beds late afternoon. We were so lucky with the weather as well, which made our stay even better. The owners have done a fantastic job refurbishing the hotel to a very high standard and all of the staff were first class. They were all so friendly, polite and helpful, so thank you to all of them. Breakfast was great and the food in the restaurant was also good. It was great to be able to sit in the restaurant and enjoy the sea views whilst dining.

Knowing that the hotel has only been open a few weeks we would like to offer a few suggestions to perhaps make things even better:
a. A small chair for the dressing table and some extra drawers would have been helpful.
b. Safe in the room. There wasn’t one, but the online room literature indicates there should be one.
c. Dog friendly - no problem with that in general, but not happy to see dogs in the dining room at breakfast and in the evening. Perhaps it might also be a good idea to just have certain rooms available and allocated for visitors with dogs? We like dogs, but wouldn’t like to think they’d been on our bed, or room furniture.
d. Introduce bar snacks as an alternative to restaurant dining from lunchtime.

Would recommend The Albion.
