We recently stayed at this beautiful hotel for the 2nd time our 1st visit in March was to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday.
We were given an upgrade on our room which was beautiful , but we booked dinner for my husbands birthday and as we were the only residents that night they didn’t open the main restaurant .
So we had dinner in the breakfast room, although we had a lovely meal it wasn’t what I had planned for a special birthday.
The next morning the amazing Daisy asked if we had a nice evening and I explained I was really upset as the experience we had for our meal had spoilt our stay.
After conveying our comments to the owner we were offered a gift voucher for a return visit , which was very generous of them.
So we have just had our return visit which was very nice and had a lovely meal in the restaurant, all the staff were very helpful everyone went out of there way to give us a great stay at the hotel

Many thanks to the owner Annie

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. Of course I was disappointed for you about the first visit, although we do often use the Victoria Restaurant when there are less guests (you refer to this as the breakfast room) but I completely understood your disappointment for a special occasion and glad the return visit was perfect for you. I look forward to welcoming you back to Albert Cottage in the future. Annie

Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is great for location, ambiance, service and comfort. The breakfasts are made to order with all you could expect served by the young guys who look after you well. Food choice is good. The bar & outdoor gardens make a lovely place to just sit & relax in the sunshine (26'), wine & beer prices are average but a good selection.

Our bedroom (6, Helena) was at the rear overlooking the carpark & extensive gardens.. no issues with noise and good views plus quieter than at the front. The room is very big and the bathroom has a bath & shower. All the amenities you need. The bed could do with a new mattress (too soft) but guess thats in the plan Annie?

Didnt eat in the restaurant but others say its just as good.

So, summing up, 4.5 stars in my view, great little gem...enjoy your stay.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at Albert Cottage, albeit the mattress may not have been to your preferred firmness. As you know we are still on a programme of improvement/refurbishment and the beds and mattresses are on that programme, with many having been replaced already. I look forward to welcoming you back to Albert Cottage real soon. Annie

Historic hotel, about 10 mins walk from Osborne House. We were on a Travelzoo deal which was great value.
We stated in the Alice room number 10 which was very spacious and tastefully decorated.and contained a large bed, sofa, large TV, desk and coffee table. Separate toilet and huge bathroom with excellent walk- in shower and double sinks. There was a covered courtyard which we did not use as the roof was leaking and noisy when it was windy and raining. However, we understand that the roof is soon to be replaced and it did not detract from our stay. Everywhere was very clean and all staff very helpful, polite and friendly. Bar prices reasonable. Lots of parking and gorgeous gardens.
The evening meal in the restaurant and daily breakfast were excellent and hats off must go to the head chef.
WiFi not great but we found it hard to get a decent signal on the Island in general so may be a general problem. A wonderful stay and experience.

Ideally situated for exploring Osborne House and Gardens, the Albert Cottage Hotel has a bygone charm evoking a stay at a country house. Friendly staff, comfy bed and a great breakfast with fruit platter and yogurt, boxed cereals, toast, fresh fruit, juices, potted yogurt and a choice of cooked breakfast including vegetarian. Dinner is available by booking in advance
The hotel is near bus stops, but if you're staying for more than one night your own transport is a must because taxis in East Cowes aren't usually available after 18.00/6pm unless pre-booked.
The hotel clearly does a roaring trade in celebrations and events but for us the dresser in the window was an irritation that blocked the garden view. No doubt many guests find it romantic...
The diddy side table barely held the hot drinks tray and kettle. Also the room key is fiddly. Overall the hotel is charming and comfortable.
Do be advised that a lot of attractions in the Isle of Wight are seasonal from Easter to end of October.
Would stay again, but with a car next time

I loved staying in this hotel. It oozes history and it was amazing to think Queen Victoria's daughter lived here. It is furnished in period Victorian style with many antiques and we found it both elegant and comfortable. The staff were exceptional, well-trained, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really very good, with fish courses as well as vegetarian/vegan options. Fruit, pastries, cereals. yogurt, and a variety of egg and meat options. Beautifully presented and cooked. There is a bar area and a large restaurant where we ate one evening. The food and service were excellent and I didn't think it expensive considering the quality and setting. It's a small hotel, ten rooms only, and you are made to feel like an individual and a valued guest. The cars are parked right outside the hotel so you feel they are secure. I would love to stay again and have recommended it to many people.

We are working hard behind the scenes, refurbishing some areas and a bit of TLC all round to get ready for opening on Friday 16 April for dining and drinking outside, just Friday, Saturday and Sundays until 17 May when we open our doors fully, including all of the hotel. Thank you again for such a lovely review, we really are so very lucky with our heritage and location and are so pleased it's appreciated.

A lovely afternoon tea tainted by the fact that one of my daughters requested a hot chocolate drink in preference to tea . She was very quickly told she would have to pay extra for this despite the fact that the other three members of our group had two pots of tea and she had none .
Sometimes it is not what you say but the manner in which it is said . On leaving the same waitress was very quick , too quick , to ask for the payment . We duly paid but were not impressed .

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, it is appreciated. I can only apologise for the service received and the fact hot chocolate was refused; this is clearly a training issue that has now been dealt with. I am sorry it tainted your visit but would hope you will return and enjoy our usual excellent service and afternoon tea. Annie

This is one of our favourite restaurants on the Island for lunch and afternoon teas.
Booked a Victorian Christmas Afternoon tea for just before Christmas but due to bad timing with a virus I was unable to go.
No problem, Albert Cottage offered to box up the Afternoon Tea so my friend could collect it and we could still enjoy it at home where I was recovering.
What a fantastic treat - four different fillings in the brown and white finger sandwiches - so very fresh and tasty; beautiful cheesecake, meringue nest with a berry compote, marzipanned fruit cake topped with redcurrants and fruit and plain scones with jam and cream.
We missed our Christmas lunch but will return very shortly. Thank you Albert Cottage.

What a gorgeous gem of a hotel. Perfect location, lovely building, very nice gardens, wonderful dining room, fabulous public rooms and the bedrooms are lovely and what with the friendly staff, this hotel is just perfect. We very much appreciated the efforts put in by the current owner. We had our little dog with us and had the dog friendly room (Alice) for two nights which was huge and absolutely brilliant, in fact it was a collection of rooms. We would not hesitate to return to this lovely boutique hotel and also recommend it to family and friends but unfortunately whilst we were there a major problem occurred in the kitchens resulting in the food both evenings being an absolute let down to this superb hotel and rather spoilt our few days away but as previous reviewers have commented positively on their dining experience we are sure this will be or has been rectified and they will be back to their normal level of excellence. Thank you Albert Cottage, we will be back.

Thank you so much for leaving such a fabulous review, more especially as there was an area you weren’t happy with. We did encounter a glitch in the kitchen with change over if menus, something that will absolutely not happen again and of course we were disappointed it happened at all. Please do contact us directly when you stay again as I would want to ensure everything about your stay is more than perfect. I do hope you will return in the not too distant future. Thank you again, Annie

Absolutely superb. There is nothing not to like about this place. I celebrated my birthday with a Sunday Lunch at the Albert Cottage. We are not in to “Sunday Lunch” at noon, instead preferring to dine late afternoon to enjoy a good meal washed down with good wine before retiring for the evening. The risk you run with doing this is being presented with hours old food, roast potatoes crying out for the bin and vegetables that are bordering on puréed. What a breath of fresh air the Albert Cottage was ! We dined at 16:00 and the food was as if it had literally just been cooked. It was superb. Absolutely superb. We started the experience in the very comfortable bar. An extremely attentive and friendly bar lady took care of us. There were seven in our group. Once in the main restaurant, which is beautifully decorated and has a real sense of Victorian splendour we were looked after by 2 waitresses who went out of their way to make our experience perfect. Most of us had roasts which were top notch. Perfectly cooked meats, lovely roast spuds and freshly cooked vegetables. Puddings were all freshly made and plentiful. Wine lists were nicely thought out with traditional favourites and some more adventurous options. The entire ambiance was faultless. No kids running around or screaming, no dogs sniffing about, no stress. No stress whatsoever ! As for the price…….Excellent value for money. This was a marvellous experience - a wonderful birthday treat. We will be back !

We had our wedding at Albert Cottage on 14.09.2024, and I can quite honestly say it was perfect. The manager Chris we really liked from day 1 of originally booking the venue in January 2023, this was a massive thing for us, he was so organised, helpful and really cared about making sure our day was going to be exactly as we wanted. He is such a lovely person, and we both just want to say thank you so much to Chris, we couldn’t really thank him enough for how great he made our day. We also want to say how amazing the food was, all of our guests were so impressed with the quality of food, and we really loved it as well. We stayed the night of the wedding; the rooms were so impressive, classy & clean making it a perfect place to stay too! The breakfast provided in the morning offered a lot of choices, and it was all just delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly the whole time we were there and the venue was just beautiful, making it truly the best day of our lives.

Thank you so much Chris & the rest of Albert Cottage

Absolutely suitable. All the rooms are spacious and you can fit a travel cot in or take a family suite. The rooms overlooking the garden are quiet too. There is a delightful bar and restaurant and garden terrace to sit out when the weather is lovely.
