The rooms were spacious and they needed to be as the beds in both our rooms were enormous. The beds were also comfortable.
Every member of the staff that we encountered was both friendly and helpful, a credit to the business.
The breakfast menu was extensive as was the dinner menu, typical Greene King. We dined in on only one of our two nights, taking advantage of the 20% discount for residents. A good offer.
All food lived upto expectation.
The location of the hotel in East Cowes is ideal, waterside and in the town.
There is no parking at the hotel but it is readily available very close by at a reasonable cost, Free 6pm-8am and £1 for two hours thereafter.
All in all we had an enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to return her.
The best part of our stay was the service we received from the friendly staff. We ate breakfast at the hotel all three mornings and were served by Nicki, who looked after our every need with thoughtfulness and efficiency. The kitchen staff did a fantastic job - our meals were delicious and there was a great variety of choices. We also had dinner at the hotel one evening and had a similarly positive experience with outstanding service and delicious food for a very reasonable price. Our overall impression of the Fountain Inn was that was a 2 star hotel with a 5 star staff.
The range offered for breakfast is excellent including a range of cooked options. Would come here again as is well located for pubs and restaurants.
Everyone on the team was very attentive and so kind. If you ever stay here (which we highly recommend you do) make sure to say hi to Andy. He was so friendly, kind, and absolutely hilarious! Thanks to him and his wife our stay at the Fountain Inn was amazing. We look forward to coming back soon. Thank you so much Andy!
The rooms were well kept and nicely decorated. Rooms were cleaned daily and Covid procedures were in place which made us feel safe. Beautiful views of the streets are visible from the rooms.
Highly recommend this beautiful hotel. Easily one of the best hotel experience. Great hospitality and even better staff.
I must say I could not fault the place the rooms were spotless bedding changed everyday amazing.
The whole of the hotel adheres to the Covid 19 rules the minute you step through the door.
Andy and Nicola who run the place just carnt do enough for you. The staff are all polite friendly with full table service. I totally recommend The Fountain.
It is situated in an ideal place on the Isle of Wight. Boat Taxi the Redjet Foot passengers can walk 2 minutes and there is The Fountain a great great place.
Thank you Andy and Nicola and your very obliging staff. I will be returning. 😁
In the bar I was advised to download the app which I did, and it made ordering drinks very easy. I was pleased to see lots of COVID secure measures in place with all staff wearing PPE, one way systems, and lots of cleaning of tables and loos.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant on this trip but have done many times before and always found the food to be good value for money with generous portions.
The team in the bar and restaurant were fantastic- especially Andy the landlord who made everyone feel welcome.
Looking forward to a return trip once lockdown number 2 is over!
Yes there's no lift! Didn’t worry us, we were on the top floor and had no trouble climbing a few flights of stairs, we’re pensioners too. The staff will help with bags if required.
Can be loud at nights! We slept with our windows open all the time we were there, it wasn’t too bad. Yes the pub next door stays open late. But this hotel is perfectly positioned in the centre of Cowes, within 5 mins of numerous pubs, restaurants and shops, a small price to pay. We had lovely sea views too.
It’s tired! Some of the paints flaking, but all the rooms were cleaned daily, towels were replaced when requested. Tea making facilities available in the rooms, bed was very comfortable.
No parking! Parking is a premium in Cowes everywhere. We parked in a public car park 5/10 mins away, always found a space. It was free between 6:00pm & 8:00am, we went out a lot during the day so didn’t pay much at all, but you can buy daily, weekly monthly tickets if you want to leave your there car all the time. There’s a 15 min drop off zone outside the hotel, so you can check in and drop off your bags first.
We were on a B&B basis, food was lovely. We ate in the hotel in the evenings too, you get 20% discount on food if you’re staying there too. And there’s a good selection of real ales available.
Would I go back? Without a doubt, it would be might first choice in Cowes.
It was clear that every precaution had been taken, given the current situation around covid 19. All around the site was clearly marked and all staff were wearing masks or visors. Our rooms were immaculate and well equipped. On our second night we decided at the last minute to eat in the hotel restaurant, Emily was very accommodating and managed to squeeze us in, and Luke, our server was great! Very chatty and checking we were ok and had what we needed. On both mornings we had booked in for breakfast, the choices were plentiful and Nicky the server both mornings was also very attentive.
An absolute pleasant stay, I would highly recommend!
