Detailed Reviews
We have just come back from a lovely stay at The Woodvale. We were in Room 1, which was spacious and comfortable with a double and single bed. Good size bathroom with a bath and plenty of soft white towels. We also appreciated the fridge in the room, which was kept supplied with still and sparkling water each day. We also were very glad of the effective fan, as the weather was hot during our stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful and met all our requests, especially at breakfast time!! The breakfasts were delicious every day, not a huge choice, but everything that you wanted and very well cooked and presented. I would point out that all the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor which is worth bearing in mind, if traveling with elderly parents, as we were - but they managed brilliantly. Perfect location for walks into town and the coastal path route towards Yarmouth! Stunning sunsets!

Stayed here for a week in a Covid rescheduled holiday and what a great choice. The bedrooms are admittedly up 36 steps, but that was not an issue for us. If required the friendly staff will gladly carry your luggage up and down.
Being at the top of the property, there was absolutely no noise from the bar/restaurant at night, even with the window open. Rooms are serviced as required, but daily topped up with biscuits, tea/coffee and bottled water. Our room was a spacious one with sea views, sofa, TV and plenty of storage. Bathroom fully equipped with all you’d need.
Breakfast was included. No issues there with usual offering, all delivered promptly and with a smile.
Bar/restaurant was always well staffed with plenty on hand to serve & wait, whether it be drinks or food.
A fine place to stay in a lovely location looking out over the Solent.

Stayed for 2 nights recently, our room had fabulous seaviews, was spotlessly clean, of very good size and very comfortable with everything you would need. Breakfast was lovely and served efficiently. We loved the pub and terrace which has a relaxed atmosphere and we ate and drank there on both evenings making the must of the late summer sun! Parking is easy even when busy, and the walk into Cowes is very pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I'm sure we will return on our next visit to IoW.

We had a group booking for 25 people driven evening meal, three of us also stayed overnight. Our group had use of a separate dining area on the first floor which was airy, tastefully decorated and ideal for our group so we would not have to worry about disturbing other diners. Can't fault anything. Meal, service, rooms and welcome were excellent. Staff helped us plan the evening, took time to add a personal touch, even noting our names. Everything was carried out with a smile. The location is beautiful. Although the weather outside was atrocious, it was a gem being able to look out onto the sea and activities while having our breakfast.

My wife and I stayed for four nights during October half term week and chose The Woodvale primarily for its location by the sea. We were not disappointed having a lovely spacious room which was well equipped and clean, overlooking the sea front despite the poor weather.
The breakfast menu was good and we enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast on most mornings with excellent and friendly service by the hosts. We also thoroughly enjoyed evening meals on two of the nights we stayed that are served in the pub on the ground floor.
It is a nice 30 minute walk along the sea front promenade into Cowes town centre where where we also had lovely meals at both 'The Coast' and 'Gastronomy' restaurants which we would also recommend.
The Woodvale deserves its 4 star status and is priced accordingly . We definitely would go there again and highly recommend to others .

We were staying at thorness bay caravan park up the road and it was just awful! We come across this place while desperately driving around trying to find somewhere better to eat. They initially said no spaces but as I asked where we could grab food around the area as we were starving they ended up squeezing us in!
Such lovely friendly customer service! Fantastic food! And amazing views! Sitting there watching people swimming or wind surfing while enjoying a meal here was very relaxing. We ended up enjoying the food that much we come back the following day for an early breakfast and the day after that too!..eating our breakfasts and dinners here for the rest of our break. Every person who served us was chatty, friendly, polite and helpful. John the manager gave us his card for future accommodation too and even dug out an ice lolly for my son who is fussy and wanted a dessert!
The drinks are fresh the food is homely hearty and all fresh! The lasagne was to die for and so was the gammon and loaded garlic bread with chilli! One day when we pop over to Isle of Wight we will 100% visit this place.
It looks like a great place for hot weather in the summer as they had a sign saying live music.
We will definitely be back! Fab place overlooking the sea X

Called in here for lunch after walking to Cowes and back. Staff very helpful, and distancing in place. We sat outside on the terrace to enjoy the view. Sandwiches fresh and tasty, small salad as garnish and for an extra 25p a bowl of sweet potato fries. Quick service and friendly staff.

We popped into the Woodvale during the week for a drink, saw the specials board and decided to have a spot of dinner.
We were slightly hesitate to eat there due to a couple of comments we've heard and read about regarding the standard of food etc. I had the lambs liver, bacon and onion gravy with mash, my wife had the sea trout. My wife has a few food allergies which we explained when we placed our order
Did we enjoy it you ask? Put it like this, we saved the kitchen porter some work as both of our plates were clean at the end of our meal as both dishes were delicious! Liver and bacon is a nostalgic dish and brings back happy memories but I love it when cooked correctly and it was I'm pleased to say, the mash was smooth and creamy, the gravy was rich and full of onions. The sea trout had crispy skin and soft juicy flesh, the veg was not at all over cooked and plentiful with my wifes food allergies catered for.
Well done to the new team down there (found out its under new management) we will be back.

We have been a little nervous of eating out in the current climate but the staff here made everything very relaxed whilst adhering to all of the Covid rules. We had a super lunch and would recommend a visit. We walked along from Cowes which took approx 30 minutes along the esplanade.

We ended up coming here twice for lunch during our stay on the IOW as the kids loved the food and views so much!
Wide choice of food to suit all tastes and levels of hunger and all fresh and well presented. The Banofee Waffle dessert is a thing of wonder, if you have to have one dessert before you die then this is it........
All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and nothing ever an issue or too much trouble.
Thank you, you should be proud of yourselves
