Set in 26 acres, formerly an award-winning 8 bedroom guest house, Chale Bay Farm has been converted to provide three lovely self-catering holiday apartments plus stand-alone double bedroom and a shared Gym and Sauna as well as extensive lawns, gardens and a paddock. Chale Bay Farm has panoramic sea views to the Needles and the chalk cliffs of Tennyson Down, providing an idyllic and tranquil setting for your holiday, but at the same time is within easy reach of the whole Island and all of its attractions. The peaceful setting make us a perfect hideaway for romantic breaks and long weekends, - a special place to stay while you explore the numerous activities on the Isle of Wight or just relax. We welcome short breaks, family getaways and seaside holidays. Note that since 2018 we are no longer a Guest House and no longer serve breakfast - we only offer self-catering holiday apartments.

We have just returned from a brilliant 5 night stay at Chale Bay Farm. This is a hidden gem with stunning scenery and generous accommodation. We stayed in Purbeck (2 adults, 1 toddler) which was very spacious and well equipped. The owners have really thought of everything which makes it a really comfortable stay with a nice blend of traditional furnishings with some excellent technology.
Our son loved the dinosaur at the entrance and seeing the goldfish every day on our way out. There is a brilliant family country pub a short walk down the road with good food and a kids playground which came in handy.
I think the overall living space is larger than many alternatives which makes it perfect for both a small family holiday or a multi generational larger trip - an ideal base to explore the island. Most notable attractions are within a 15-20 drive and we personally liked the slightly quieter surroundings than other major towns.
We will definitely be returning in the future - highly recommend.

What a lovely place! We stayed in St Catherine’s View and were very impressed with the accommodation and location. The Owners were really responsive to the questions we asked and very attentive. The air conditioning in the apartment was a godsend as we stayed during the heatwave. The apartment was exceptionally clean and well equipped and so ideal with young children. Our granddaughters loved it and there was plenty of space, with fantastic views, for them to run around. The pub opposite was ideal to pop across to for a bite o eat. All in all an excellent place and
we will definitely return. 😊

My friends and I have stayed at Chale Bay for the past few years, and will continue to do so as long as they will welcome us!

The rooms are spacious and well equipped for self catering. The views are stunning and it’s oh so peaceful. There is plenty of dedicated off road parking there too - enough to park a bus or 6!

With current Covid restrictions in place, Steve and Charlotte continue to operate as normal as possible, although there are understandable changes made, such as an earlier check out and a later check in. This is to allow rooms to be adequately cleaned and sanitised between guests.

If you don’t feel like cooking, the Wight Mouse opposite is heartily recommended, and there are other restaurants a short drive away.

An amazing location we can’t wait to return to!

Fantastic farm, exceeded my expectations. Cleanest apartment I’ve ever stayed at - couldn’t find a single fault. One of the best stays I’ve ever had. An added bonus was the modernity of the apartment which also surprised me.

Very lovely property, very well maintained. Gorgeous views. Ample parking and very easy to check in and out. Would have been nice to have some loungers outside, and a sun shade or umbrella over the table, but otherwise nothing to fault at all!

Stayed over Easter holiday , At first was a little worried as husband booked ( never normally let him ) and was for a weeks stay . I am really fussy were I stay but I can honestly say it was 100% and could not fault a thing. Steve's breakfast in the morning is wonderful ( problem is you have to have his cooked breakfast ) 😆 as its Fabulous . There are also yogurts / fruit / cereals and toast . We were extremely lucky with the weather so we took our bikes . The views are fabulous . We had a room that had two single beds upstairs as our Son is 16 and likes a little privacy . Even has telly upstairs , but have to put downstairs telly on very low or upstairs as would interfere with each other's sound . This was not a problem for us as there are loads of places to visit . Honestly if you would like a very very clean place to stay , lovely views , beautiful accomadation then stay here , you will not be disappointed .

We booked an expensive room at this b&b as a treat & the views were amazing as were all the gadgets available...interactive TV, coffee machine, wifi etc. The king size bed was also superb.
All the ingredients used at breakfast were of the highest quality, however an extra charge for kippers, porridge etc if followed by anything cooked seemed unfair at this price. Also the tissues in our room were not replenished.
Very high quality accommodation at a very high price, a bit more attention to little details like dusting the room would have made it perfect.

We thank these guests for their generally good review, but did want to address a couple of points they made.... It is rare that it is implied that we are poor value for money, so we are sorry that these guests felt the room they had chosen was “expensive”, although in booking early and taking advantage of our various special offers in fact this air-conditioned Deluxe room was costing them only £62 a night per person (including VAT and breakfast) with stunning countryside and sea views, a super king bed, complimentary tea and coffee, Hot Chocolate, Cappuccino, a Nespresso machine, complimentary fruit platter, remote control mood lighting, a 40” HD smart satellite TV with blu-ray player, complimentary movie selection, free wifi, a full ensuite bathroom with designer toiletries and bathrobes & slippers, and a personal patio. We also made significant savings for them on the ferry crossing by sharing some of our trade discount. Other rooms were available from £50 per person (including VAT and breakfast). The breakfast included in the price consists of freshly prepared fruit, yoghurts, cereal selection encompassing all the popular Kellogg’s and Nestlé cereals, fruit juices and a full English cooked breakfast, with tea, coffee and toast. Like many luxury establishments we highlight less often ordered or premium items in an à-la-carte section of the menu to show that they are potentially available should a guest desire. Most items on the à-la-carte menu are bought in freshly to order. In the case of fresh kippers the £4.45 à-la-carte supplement barely covers the incremental costs of provision. Porridge is requested relatively rarely these days and so is in the à-la-carte section, however a note makes it clear that it is free unless it is being ordered as an extra course to a cooked breakfast. Occasionally oversights happen; however the time to mention overlooking replenishing a complimentary item, like a box of tissues in this case, is at the time when it can be instantly fixed, not a week later on Tripadvisor! The rooms are also dusted daily and we are normally complemented on how clean the rooms are, so this may have been one of those throwaway tag lines some reviewers use on Tripadvisor to embellish their negative comments.

Couldn't fault this great B&B. Great welcome from start to finish. Large rooms, large bathrooms. everything clean and sparkling. The individual outside seating areas right outside your own patio doors were great for those evenings relaxing with extensive beautiful views over the cliffs and sea. The breakfast gave a huge varied choice and were served hot and inviting.
Definitely a place to recommend. A great pub/restaurant within walking distance too.

We booked a couple of nights and took advantage of the 'Best Room in the House'. Quite simply I don't believe that there is a better B&B on the island.
We were warmly welcomed by Steve who took us to our room. All amenities of the room explained.
The room was spotless with tea, coffee and speciality coffee machine, Air conditioning and easily controllable lighting from consoles on the nightstands.
Breakfast was of a high quality, whether it be cereal etc or full English.
I could go on praising Chale Bay Farm, but quite simply it is FAULTLESS.
Situated in a quiet location with The Wight Mouse Inn less than a 5 minute walk away. Stunning views towards the needles.
Ideally suited for a drive to Ventnor, Sandown and the many attractions that this Island has to offer.
If you visit Ventnor do tryand visit The Cantina Restaurant in the High Street (Opposite Tesco Express) Gorgeous food and very reasonably priced.
Thank you Steve, Charlotte and staff for an immensely enjoyable stay. We will be back.

Which is the closest place for an evening meal?
Answer from Steve C
United Kingdom9 contributions3 helpful votes
The closest place for an evening meal is the Wight Mouse which is a big family pub (recently under very good new management). It is five minutes' walk away. If you are coming by car there are numerous places within 15 minutes drive listed in our guest information pack.
