Detailed Reviews
On Friday 2nd October 2020 we had a wedding at the Montagu Arms hotel in the village of Beaulieu.
It was called a petite wedding and we were a total 6, I have say from the wedding planner Clara Earp to the ceremony and the wedding breakfast everything was so well organised it ran like clockwork.
The Montagu Arms has Michelin status and this was clear from the quality of the food we were served. I can highly recommend this venue, the suite we were given for our overnight stay had 2 bathrooms a lounge and a 4 poster bed.

We are lucky enough to stay here often. The hotel has recently re-opened following the covid shutdown, and we wondered whether we would find things too "different". Absolutely delighted to find it was busy, happy and buzzing, albeit with suitable covid-safe distancing and other measures in place. The garden and terrace were looking beautiful, a wonderful place to sit in the shade with a cooling drink. Our room was a suite, which in the hot weather was cool with windows on 3 sides. Rooms are sanitised before occupation obviously, some little bits removed from the room but no so as to spoil your enjoyment. Dinner in the Terrace Restaurant (well, outside actually as it was a lovely warm evening) was superb, elegant and full of local flavours. A bottle of English Sparkling added to the occasion. As ever, it is the staff here who really shine, we were so pleased to see familiar faces of dedicated and discrete staff both in the bar and restaurant, they are friendly and charming. All in all, another wonderful stay. Thank you!

We were lucky enough to stay in this hotel for four nights earlier this month and were very sorry when the time came to leave!
We only booked our stay about a week in advance and were very impressed with the time taken by the central reservations team to find an available room which suited our needs. After some discussion, we settled on Room 4 and on arrival we were most definitely not disappointed. This little gem of a suite had a separate sitting room with shower room off it and at the end of the corridor, a beautiful double aspect window bedroom with a four poster bed. There was also another bathroom with overhead shower and both bathrooms were stocked daily with White Company toiletries. We had tea and coffee making facilities within the room, again replenished daily and there was plenty of storage space for clothing and luggage with a large mirrored wardrobe and several sets of drawers within the suite. Overall we found the space extremely comfortable and quiet, with beautiful views over the garden.
We enjoyed the little touches such as tea or coffee brought to your room in the morning at a time of your choosing and the nightly turndown service. The breakfast selection was excellent both in terms of choice, quality and service, with Jackie and Petra in particular doing a great job in making sure everyone was well looked after.
We had one slight noise issue on our final night due to a function which was taking place in the meeting room immediately below our accommodation. The party concerned were not especially rowdy but being an old building with no bespoke soundproofing, noise does unfortunately travel a bit. We notified reception of this the following morning and the matter was very generously and professionally dealt with by the General Manager, Severino. I understand that functions are not a regular occurrence at the hotel so I would not let this put you off from visiting.
The public areas of the hotel are very comfortable and the gardens are a beautiful spot for a bite to eat or drinks. There is plenty of parking at the rear of the hotel and we found the overall location of the hotel/Beaulieu just perfect for exploring the New Forest.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to revisit or recommend - a wonderful place.

A pretty country house set in a picture postcard village, with beautifully maintained gardens to sit and enjoy a relaxing drink.
Inside, the hotel is traditional but not dated, our room was individual and quirky with a large comfortable bed, well thought out furnishings and was cleaned to full Covid standards.
The stand out features however were
a) the food; a delicious fine dining evening meal with an excellent wine list, and a superb breakfast, all using high quality local ingredients.
b) the service; every single member of staff we encountered were charming, professional and clearly very experienced- which tells you a lot I believe about their employers?
We would have stayed longer, but the hotel is currently only open Thursday to Monday each week.
Highly recommended.

Just home from the most amazing afternoon tea. We were celebrating my wonderful Mum-in-laws 90th Birthday. There were7 of us ranging in age from 13 to the Birthday girl! From the moment we arrived and our coats were taken, till the moment we left over 3 hours later, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were ALL very attentive but not intrusive at all. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. One good detail was that the sandwiches were brought out first and then the scones and cakes,so nothing had time to get dry,as so often happens at other establishments ,when everything is brought out together. I’ve had quite a few afternoon teas in my time but this is definitely my favourite. I cannot recommend it highly enough

We have just returned from a lovely weekend away in Beaulieu. We stayed at The Montagu Arms Hotel for 3 nights in a four poster room. We cannot praise the staff enough for making us feel safe, welcome and our stay with them a good one.
The room was above Monty's Inn ,overlooking the road and up a lot of stairs but when the traffic noise dies down it is lovely and quiet.
No room cleaning during our stay due to Covid restrictions but we didn't mind. Fresh towels, milk, tea and coffee were available on request. Breakfast and dinner was lovely in both restaurants. The beetroot, walnuts and goats cheese starter at Monty's Inn was amazing...compliments to the chef!
We had a savoury afternoon tea for my partner's birthday treat, lovely array of savoury treats.
What made our stay was the new forest ponies just wandering about outside the hotel!
We will definitely come back and stay again next year. Thankyou to Jeremy and all of the staff. Stay safe.

What an absolute gem of a place. As far as the hotel is concerned, we could not fault it. The complimentary morning tea/coffee delivery to your room, the personalised welcome and weather forecast notes were all symbolic of the extra thoughtful touches that oozed out of this hotel. The only negative is the choice of food. We wanted a casual easy eating/non-fussy menu for supper. Monty’s, the pub attached to the hotel, should have ticked the box. But unfortunately the menu was just too rich and very limited in choice- actually fewer options were available than were on the menu at the door. We decided to drive into Lymington for supper instead. But that was the only downside. This hotel and its staff are right up there with the best of them and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone - a class act.

My husband and I have just returned home from a 4 night stay at this beautiful Hotel. Our room was the Chestnut Suite, room No 7. This was beautifully styled, plenty of room with a chaise longue at the foot of the pretty Four Poster bed. Just off the main room is a small sitting room with another television. A large bay window with is a really lovely feature and overlooks the Beaulieu River. The large bathroom is four piece with double hand basins. White Company toiletries abd fluffy white towels and robes. The Service is seamless, professional and totally welcoming. Staff eager to help and make sure you are comfortable. This is a classic English country hotel, quirky and spacious, with ample public seating areas and conference facilities. Guests can choose to dine in The Terrace restaurant or the more informal Monty’s Bar. Both are excellent. We’ve stayed at the Montagu Arms Hotel several times and travel from our home in Dorset often to meet family and have lunch in the bar. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Staying at this hotel was just a joy.
Our accommodation was perfect we had a loft suite which was immaculate and extremely comfortable, they thought of everything, books to read, board games, water on both floor levels (even a tot of brandy in a decanter). A lovely coffee Nespresso coffee machine and kettle with ample beverage accompaniments.
The mezzanine floor had a lovely little lounge with sofas and TV to chill out in and another flat screen TV downstairs.
Comfy robes to use after a luxurious bath with beautiful complimentary toiletries.
The bonus for us was the little courtyard garden with table and chairs to enjoy the September sunshine.
Every staff member was so helpful and polite it was a joy to see even after what has been for them a very difficult time, if they were having staff issues you would never have known, very professional.
The little garden with its terraces was so peaceful and well kept, it was like a little oasis.
We ate at Montys the bistro attached to the hotel and that was lovely with lots of choice, definitely recommend the oysters they were delicious. Our only little gripe was the steak was a bit tasteless and rather expensive we felt. That said it did not spoil our evening.
Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice and delightfully served by the restaurant team.
We left the hotel feeling refreshed, we both said that we could have stayed for longer and properly chilled out.
We will return for sure, thank you to the manager and his team for a perfect stay you have made us want to come back for more.

Palate cleanser to start, followed by a selection of sandwiches, then scones (sweet or savoury) then gorgeous little patisserie cakes. Big choice of teas, as many as you like, all served overlooking their beautiful gardens. We only had one between two of us but if you have a good appetite then go for your own! Would definitely go again.

I am a vegetarian, not a vegan. I don't know, but I expect that they would based on my stay there. Best to call and ask, they are really helpful.
Yes I am sure they have twin seeded rooms
I understand that the hotel doesn't allow dogs to stay, but you can bring them into the Monty's Inn bar, which is a good place for lunch.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your enquiry, I am pleased to say that we do offer room service however we would always encourage our guests to come down to experience the atmosphere in the dining options that we have to offer in our fine-dining Terrace Restaurant and our Gastro-pub Monty's Inn.
We look forward to welcoming you.
