I’ve just spent 3 months on business at this wonderful hotel.
An unforgettable experience, for all the right reasons.
The hotel has modern gym facilities (some equipment not functioning) with a pool and pleasant spa area (the jacuzzi is sometimes unavailable). Can’t complain though as I went 4 times a week.
A wide range of breakfast options are available with good quality dinner choices, peri chicken was succulent heaven but the sea bass is definitely worth trying, if a bit pricey.
The staff are probably the best I’ve encountered in the many, many years of working away in hotels.
George the General Manager has got this spot on.
Richard, the Front of House Manager were very welcoming and humorous, along with his staff, Sarah and Louise.
At breakfast, Lucy was delightfully bubbly at such an early hour.
At dinner, Caroline, Cerys, Lilly and their manager Grace made my evening wind down a delight as I quaffed on a glass of Pinot with my meal. Well done ladies, keep up the great work.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Thank you.

Plenty of free car parking available on site but make sure you register your car’s number plate at reception to avoid fines. Large and spacious foyer. One luggage trolley available for guest use.
Bedrooms are fine, good sized dressing table/desk and plenty of storage spaces. Tea and coffee making facilities in room but they’re only providing paper and plastic cups at the moment. The bed was unfortunately uncomfortable with a plywood headboard that clinked loudly against the wall when you lean back. Our room could have been cleaner, there was some rubbish left at the side of the bed from previous guests - wouldn’t have expected this with the extra cleaning they’re supposedly carrying out.
The hotel is in a good location if you’re planning a visit to Paulton’s Park (Peppa Pig World) and took us about 20mins to get there.

Hello wilam06a, Thanks for choosing to stay with us among your many lodging options. We also appreciate your candid remarks. While I am happy that you appreciate our hotel location, our spacious parking and room layout, I understand your dismay with both the uncomfortable bed and the room’s cleanliness. I am genuinely sorry if we missed the mark with you. Trust that our team, together with our hotel, are yours in hospitality, and will always be here to provide you the experience that you deserved, and we will immediately share your remarks to our hotel’s housekeeping management for improvements on our amenities and services. I find it difficult to eat well and stick to my keto diet when I am away from home.
I am on the diet for medical reasons and often I am stuck just eating ham and cheese at meals other than breakfast (breakfast is a fairly easy meal to manage as most hotels do reasonable bacon and eggs.)

I was impressed at the helpfulness of the waiter we had in the evening on Sunday who carefully noted the substitutions I requested and made sure the chef didn't add any dressings I didn't want.

The meal, rump steak with avocado and half a lemon was wonderful. Steak can get a bit boring as it is one of the safe options for a keto dieter but this was prepared so well I enjoyed it and the avocado was lovely too.

I asked for some raspberries and strawberries with plain whipped double cream for dessert and the chef (I think the waiter said his name was Josh) prepared it specially for us, as that was not a menu option.

Despite us being very picky and not having standard food off the menu - the bill was very reasonable and when I checked my blood sugars later they were unchanged from the level they had been before the meal. So I was very happy and healthy.

The room was comfy. But I would have preferred to be able to set the room temperature to a cooler temperature. We tried to reduce the temperature using the air conditioning unit but it refused to cool the room down and I was much too hot in the night.

There is free WiFi but it is unsecured and so I wouldn't use it. I would like them to have some sort method of securing the WiFi to give a bit more assurance when using the system.

Other than that we were completely satisfied and we will always stay at the Holiday Inn Fareham Solent in future as we have done so in the past as well as in its other incarnations in the more distant past.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night between 2 days of visiting Paulton’s park and part of a park package. The main issue with this hotel is the poor management and lack of attention to detail. When we checked in at 7pm, we went to our interconnecting rooms after a long day at the park - and the door keys would not open the door! We trudged back down to reception and replacements and they didn’t work. When we finally got in by almost jimmying the card in the lock, one of the rooms had a musty smell and lots of dust on the windowsill. We had booked to eat in the restaurant. Originally, we were told by Nick the duty manager that a party of our size (5) could be accommodated at 8.30 as opposed to our preferred time of 8pm. Nevertheless, we went down at 8.30 and found us and another family were the only customers! We ordered food and the drinks came with the starters (never seen that dive before!) and the children’s garlic bread arrived on one big plate when it was 3 separate orders. I had to ask for cutlery to eat my food with! The menu was limited too, despite the website still offering a full menu which we had looked at whilst in the park - clearly needs updating.

Inevitably, the children needed the toilet and we were told that the public toilets in the restaurant/lobby were out of order due to the pandemic. Having visited several pubs/restaurants in June/July, I’d not seen this before as usually there are toilets open but with instructions to wait turns/keep distance/wash hands etc. The disabled was the only toilet open (see pic) and in a poor state. We were told to use the toilets in our rooms. I would have if I had any confidence the keys would work when I got up there! When alerted to this at 9pm, I bc wound gave thought it would have been cleaned almost immediately. Unfortunately not, and the second picture here is from 10am the next morning. Why was the one working toilet not sorted out over the course of 13 hours?

The breakfast was a real let down too. The ‘grab bag’ consists of a roll with one of either bacon, sausage or egg, a drink, yoghurt and croissant. This just smacks of cost cutting. I was expecting they would book all rooms a time window for full breakfast and do table service for orders. Massive disappointment.

But wasn’t a surprise from a national chain that can’t get its pandemic signage grammatically correct and management who don’t even notice...

After arriving at the hotel on Friday we entered our room (interconnected) first impressions were ok, looked reasonable. We unpacked and then decided to have a shower after our long journey. No hot water! Receptionist investigated and agreed it wasn’t working properly. Maintenance were called who said it was ok and that was as hot as it got. The kind receptionist gave us a complimentary upgrade. We were told to pack our things and move to the new ones. Our daughter was a bridesmaid and we were on a time limit as she had things to do with the bride. This upgrade meant less storage but the addition of a small fridge, trouser press and safe. This time the other interconnecting rooms shower did not work, neither did the heating system. The net curtains had a huge rip in them. I’m assuming that the upgrade should have consisted of complimentary bathrobes because there was 1 between the two rooms.
Saturday mornings breakfast was cold this may have been because there were no trays to transport your food from one room to another so by the time you had gone backwards and forwards everything was cold. I suggested the tray idea to be told it was only for that day as there was a wedding on. So although I was one of those wedding guests I assume everyone has to suffer. Poor organisation and bad planning.
We also lost some nicotine tablets in the move, I asked reception if the could find out if they had been handed in. She kindly went to housekeeping to have a look but it wasn’t her area and therefore didn’t know where to look which she explained and told me to ask in the morning. I did but got told that housekeeping hadn’t found anything but the room hadnt been reallocated since we vacated and would ask someone to look. Surely if this was the case we could have looked ourselves the previous night.
Maybe I should have seen all this coming as I received my confirmation email only confirming one room when I had specifically booked two interconnecting rooms months in advance as we have a disabled daughter. I tried to contact the hotel directly but no one answers the phone and had to go through the booking agent who in the first instance said she would send another email. When she did it was a repeat of the first so had to follow the whole process again only to have the phone put down/ cut off.
Am I happy? NO
Would I recommend? NO

Hello Mrsbarrick, Thank you for choosing Holiday Inn and for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience. I would like to start by apologizing to you for the inconveniences you faced during your stay. It is unfortunate that we were not able to elevate your stay experience with us as a result of the lack of amenities in your room and lackadaisical service provided by our front desk to address these concerns. Our Hotel Management has been notified of your concerns and are working diligently to ensure that we do not allow our future guests to have this kind of experience. We are determined to deliver a combined sense of comfort and happiness. At the end of the day, it is the smile that we see in our guests and the joy that you share of your stay that we always look forward to. We hope to host your stay soon should you come by our way. Despite the renovations going on (which we were informed about a few days prior to arriving) we had a very pleasant stay.
Lacks a lift, but otherwise facilities good, additional use of the health club a bonus. Great easy access WiFi.

I really liked the wall dispensers for soap, conditioner etc. Much better than the bottles that holiday inn used to do, I hope it’s a change in all holiday inns not just this one.

Buffet breakfast is a well organised layout, a few of the hot buffet stations were a bit slow to refill however.

We ate dinner at the restaurant a couple of times and the standard of the food was very good, however service varied from slow to very slow, always friendly though.

The hotel is very dated and rooms are worn and tired. Lacking plug sockets and chargers for phones. 2 Paper cups provided in room for tea and coffee (there was 3 of us in room) but supplies not replenished and no biscuits, towels not changed. Had to request more toilet paper. Rooms were not being serviced due to covid 19. Breakfast was takeaway service only and very expensive at £10 each so didn't bother. All facilities at hotel were closed including toilets. Free parking but hotel is in a remote area so not able to walk out to nearest town. Lots of litter and empty glasses left outside hotel entrance. I didn't consider this hotel good value at £67 per night. Child's chair bed was uncomfortable and very narrow. Not what I would expect from a Holiday Inn.

I came to the Holiday Inn for work within the area.

The room on arrival was found clean! Edges of Carpets clean and bathroom also!
Room on appearance looked rather dated and rather cold despite being June, I was Unable to put the heating on as that setting is pre programmed and unable to be altered according to the Control Instructions above thermostat stating there pre set centrally according to season.

Contacted the reception to see if i could get additional Tea and milks for my room, i was informed this would be delivered to me but never came after over 45mins of waiting?

Asked at the desk after my dinner, i was told here there on the end and the receptionist pulled out the cupboard 3 tea bags which were screwed up and 5 milks and just walked back into the office.

My Dinner on the first night went well! On the second night a struggle!!

I enjoyed the sea bass first night round, so I decided to have that again and the dish came out with Garlic aioli and fish skin was soggy as a pos to crisp like first night the salad had no dressing as advertised and like the first night?

The server took the plate back and it was clear the food was just transferred over on to a new plate!! Yet nothing changed to the salad.

My company provides a £20.00 allowance per night for dinner which is Emailed directly to the site and is put on to my reservation first night round the £20.00 allowance for the first night was put to the room and i paid the remainder no issues.
Second night the server claimed they couldn’t do it and after the server trying for about 3 to 4 times in the end they did!

The experience I witnessed was unprofessional and from my experience of approaching the reception desk i never mentioned they forgot to bring me tea yet i was made feel like i was a bother.

Despite my experiences I would stay again based solely on room cleanliness but to general service no.

I stayed here with my family recently as we had to travel across the country for a family funeral, and definitely wouldn't stay again unless there was no other option. We paid almost £600 for two rooms for two nights, which was very expensive in comparison to the quality (or lack thereof) of the rooms, which were very, very shabby and dated, and absolutely freezing, even with the bedroom heating on for hours. The entire time I was in the hotel over the two days I could not heat up, very unusual for me as I'm normally always way too hot in literally every hotel I've ever been in. To put it in context in terms of the wear, there was a hole in the carpet outside my bathroom about the size of a football, which was worn literally right down to the concrete floor, as in zero carpet left. Carpet can be fairly cheap especially when being ordered in bulk on a business account, (or when just buying enough for one bedroom) so in my eyes there's absolutely no excuse for this especially from a massive chain hotel. The decor in the rooms was also very faded, worn, and dated. The reception, restaurant, and bar areas are all very nicely decorated in modern styles which is obviously very recent, they really desperately need to now pay some of the same attention to their bedrooms. I also personally found it really noisy as the bedrooms on the ground floor are on one long corridor which seemed to be quite busy, and the bedroom doors are quite heavy, old-fashioned fire-door (I understand this is probably regulation) style which didn't soft close, and just swung shut slamming hard. From about 6.30am onwards it was impossible to sleep as all you heard was bang, bang, bang, bang, bang continuously, as those on work trips started to leave, followed by the housekeeping team starting. There were a lot of positives too though, for example all of the staff were very friendly and polite, and the reception staff could not have done more to help us, they were great. The food at both breakfast and dinner was lovely, however the service in the restaurant and at the bar was so slow, even when it was very quiet. The second night we had to ask for our dinner bill twice and wait a total of almost half an hour to get it, when we were shattered and dying to get back to our rooms. On the second morning I decided to buy a vanilla latte from the Starbucks counter to have with my breakfast as I didn't like the other coffee on offer, there was no-one else waiting and a member of staff came over right away to take my order, however it then took them almost 15 minutes to make just a mocha, I'm not sure why. I also had to go and retrieve the coconut milk for it myself after being told twice that the hotel doesn't stock coconut milk, even though I could see some in another fridge. In summary, the staff are pleasant, and the restaurant/bar areas are fine for some breakfast or a coffee/lunch meeting etc., but it's definitely not worth your while to pay for a room unless you have no other option. The hotel is kind of out in the middle of nowhere as well, so I'd say not really optimal for anything other than a business trip.

Me and my family stayed at this hotel whilst visiting Peppa Pig world, the hotel is only 30 minutes away from the resort which is not to bad and the location is straight off the motorway and easy to find. The staff where brilliant, very friendly and always smiling it was a nice atmosphere, breakfast and dinner was always nice and again staff always smiling and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if visiting the area, well done to all the staff and management for making our 2 day stay enjoyable.
