Stayed in a superior family room with double, single & extra bed. It was spacious enough for the 4 of us and the beds were really comfy.
Bathroom was a great size and modern.
The staff here are wonderful. Everyone from reception , bar, dining & cleaners, were all lovely (& all appeared to be really happy which goes a long way in hospitality! )
From the initial booking process I was really impressed. Very helpful with allocating a room for my parents with walk in shower & accessible by lift, as well as reserving a car parking space at the front of the hotel due to limited mobility.
Breakfast was very good and cooked to order so very fresh. We didn’t manage to eat here in the evening but the menus looked good.
Thank you all for a fabulous few days. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend to others.

Booked to stay on Saturday night as a family wedding taking place in nearby Southsea.
Called them the evening before our stay to ask if we would be able to check in early to get ready for the wedding which was at 3pm. James who took my call could not have been more helpful and cheerful. We were welcome to check in from 12 noon. James was also happy to arrange taxis for us from The Lysses to Southsea, he did this immediately, keeping me on hold for a moment then confirming this with me...such great service.
When we arrived on the Saturday, we received a warm and friendly welcome from the lady on reception. We could see the staff were all busy as they had a wedding reception that afternoon. We were helped to our room with our bags. The delightful lady offered to arrange for sandwiches and drinks to be brought to our room, even though they were not strictly open for food due to the imminent wedding reception. The sandwiches were delicious with lots of fresh salad.
When we returned late evening, we were received by another charming member of the team, all smiles and cheerful. Our room had been cleared of the plates and glasses.
The room itself had a double bed and a single, the bathroom had a large walk in shower, and a free standing bath, it was immaculately clean. The bed was not the most comfortable but adequate. The room had air con which was wonderful earlier in the day as it had been quite warm.
The hotel is well run, all the staff we met were so friendly and well mannered. It isn't plush, but very good value and clean, our full English breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent.
Also thanks to Mandy in house keeping, as our room was so clean.
The owner of The Lysses has a great team, they do you proud.

The staff were very friendly. The food was amazing. There was an excellent choice of dishes, it was all well cooked and it was great value for money. I understand the menus changes daily and I would be very happy to eat there again. Well done chef! The hotel itself looks tired. It needs updating, more colour and some modernisation is required.

We enjoyed a fabulous weekend at the hotel celebrating our sister-in-law’s 60th birthday. B&B was great value for money. A very special mention for the whole team who were amongst the best we have come across in many years of travel. Not fair to single out individuals as everyone played their part but Jamie was a real star, Gemma on reception lovely and the night porter (sorry did not take his name) was also excellent. On Saturday the hotel laid on an afternoon tea for 30 people, and we hired the restaurant. It worked so well with easy access to the bar and garden. Highly recommended

The Lysses is in a good location. It is an old building that has 1960s accommodation room furniture that is tired. Room very clean not very big. The food is good, however that have very limited milk alternatives and no yoghurt for Sunday breakfast. The room was just over £100 for. Two people including breakfast, out of season I would say that’s expensive
The front desk receptionist is lovely, as were the food waitresses
Thank you

Booked in for Sunday lunch - never disappoints great value and quality. Limited menu but they do it very well. The portobello mushroom starter was superb and the roast beef very tasty. Coffee followed on the terrace which was welcome. Service consistently good as well. Already rebooked with family for end of October.

We decided to take up the hotel’s offer of a special package for Valentine’s night as it would mean we didn’t have to worry about drinking and driving. Hannah checked us in and asked if we wanted teas and coffees for the room and gave us a little basket of supples. Strange not to put it in the room. Hannah asked if we needed help with our cases and clothes carriers and I foolishly said “no” as I thought the lift would take us to our floor. Unfortunately after exiting the lift there were still two flights of stairs to climb so the little basket of supplies ended up on the floor when we struggled to carry it with our luggage as well. We found a little box of chocolates in the room with a welcome card with the wrong name on it. The room was quiet with a spacious shower and walk in wardrobe but unfortunately the bed was only a small double. When we asked next day, Hannah said they had large double beds in some of the rooms so we must ask for that next time. The breakfast next morning was adequate although my kipper was very small - I’ll ask for two next time!

Stayed here for 8 nights. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The rooms were clean and quiet, although if you were looking for a ly in the cleaning staff could be heard going about their way at 8.00am. Only had breakfast and a bar snack as due to the heat wave we totally lost our appetite. The breakfasts were good,as was the bar snacks. Staff were always friendly and helpful.
I would use this hotel again

Thank you so much to all the staff at Lysses House Hotel for making our big day run so smoothly. From when I arrived on the Friday with all my wedding paraphernalia, to when we left on the Sunday morning, the staff where amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The wedding breakfast meal was great. All our guests commented on how good the food was. The organisation by the hotel made the day ran so smoothly, leaving us to enjoy our day with family and friends. Clive, James, Davina & their staff couldn't do enough for us and our guests.
The hotel was the perfect size our wedding (45 guests to the main reception & 70 to the evening). The layout of the function room, lounge & bar made it easy to socialise, without feeling cut off.
We had amazing weather and were able to use the patio and garden for drinks and photos. The location is the perfect setting for a wedding.
The wedding was so well organised that we were both totally relaxed throughout the day.
All of our guests commented on how lovely the hotel was, and how great the food and staff were.
Thankyou for helping make our big day so special.

Yes, that's correct. Just ask at Reception how to use this benefit (we didn't, so I don't know what to do, but they clearly advertise the benefit in reception)
