My room was small but clean and the bed was very comfortable. There is nowhere to put things. My suitcase had to stay on the floor and anything that wouldn’t hang from a coat hanger had to stay there too. The desk area could have been bigger and it would have been good to have a more comfortable chair. I felt that the room was overpriced with charges inflated because of the August holiday.
The bathroom was clean. Water at the sink was very low pressure - a trickle. The shower produced more water but lacked power.
Having paid up front for a week’s internet access, I found that it wasn’t working. The flustered member of staff who told me that there’d been a problem for at least a week told me that she couldn’t do anything about it because it’s supplied directly from Virgin Media. Several calls by me to the Virgin helpline got the fault fixed the following day. There was no follow up by staff to offer to sort it out or to suggest alternatives.
There was no explanation or information about where one might get breakfast or other meals. Thank goodness for the Wetherspoons pub next door.
It’s a long time since I stayed in Travelodge. I think it will be a long time until I stay in a Travelodge again.
Overall: unimpressed.
The price was very reasonable for a last minute booking. The hotel is in an excellent location; directly opposite the train station, a short walk from the town centre and within easy reach of Southampton Airport. Whilst there's no restaurant on site, there is a Wetherspoons next door and plenty of options in Eastleigh Town centre.
Check in was quick, and the receptionist was very friendly.
My 1st floor room was acceptable for a night. A little small compared to most Travelodges, but not uncomfortable. The bed was large and comfortable, and the temperature was just right.
On the downside, there was a fair bit of dust in the ensuite, one of the towels had several large holes in it, no glasses are provided and the coffee was awful.
If you can get a decent rate, it's a perfectly acceptable hotel for a one night stopover, but I wouldn't want to stay for much longer.
The room was quite disgusting, noisy and suffocatiing, it was not what I had booked, the advice on parking is adhoc at best boarding even bordering on creativity, I had to drive around the town twice before finding a parking slot in a dodgy street. The staff were unsympathetic, not caring in the slightest and stated that the hotel was doing me a favour by giving me a twin room regardless of the condition!
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful with delivering my food to my room and left me clean towels and extra tea and coffee daily.
During these difficult times I know they did as much as they could and made my stay as pleasant as possible .. thank you all!!
We had no issue parking arrived Saturday evening and parked directly opposite in the train station £7 paid by an app .
Dog friendly and a near by park to walk , pointed out to us by staff .
Only thing I would say is that it would benefit from new windows to help with the street noise .
Altogether we were most happy with our stay here - thanks Mandy.
On the plus side the room and the bedding were clean. The carpet was just about adequately clean.
The room was hot for duration of our stay. No air conditioning. There was a fan in the room but it was inefficient. So we just couldn't cool off all night.
The pillows were very uncomfortable and hard (seemed very cheap and foamy).
The extra 'family' bed provided was not standard size, and was way too small for my 6ft son.
The family room was way too small for three people (2 adults and a 16 year old). There was not enough space to put our belongings.
No bedside tables for our books, water glass, spectacles, etc.
Not enough plug sockets in the room, and none on the side of the bed, which meant that the flex from my husband's CPAP machine had to be stretched across the room during the night, creating a major trip hazard for us all in the dark! Also We couldn't charge our phones at the bedside, so we're unable to use them as clocks/alarms while we slept. There were three of us in the room. We had the fan and the CPAP machine plugged in, which left just 2 plug sockets for other devices.
The tap and the sink in the bathroom were not compatible. Every time I turned the tap on the water came out with such force that it shot up the side of the basin and soaked me.
There was minimal refreshments in the room. Definitely not enough for 3 people.
No hand towels, only bath; which meant I had nothing to wrap my hair in once I'd got out of the shower.
There was no nearby parking, which meant that we had to walk our belongings for about 5 mins, from the long stay car park down the road.
No facility for breakfast. Just breakfast boxes.
The whole place was unremarkable. It is not somewhere I will every stay in again.
The last time we stayed at a Travelodge was about 5 years ago, in Hampshire, and we had similar issues. The only reason we had to book into one again was because the Southampton boat show was on and the Premier Inns were full.
I can't see us staying in a Travelodge ever again, unless I am.compelled to do so, or they 'up their game'.
"Pub next door busy on Fridays and weekends so when booking ask for room to front rather than at rear. "Read full review
