We stayed in a junior suite which we were informed has recently been renovated to a meeting theme the rest of the hotel will follow.
The room was large and airy with plenty of space and well thought out.
There were two wardrobes and a dressing area which lead into the modern bathroom with large shower cubical with high pressure water.
The room was comfortable and clean with additional measures for COVID protection. however, the bed for our liking was a little too soft (personal preference)
The staff in the hotel were helpful and friendly and the location was great too with central Manchester a few minutes walk away.
The restaurant, which we attended for drinks only was operating on a reservation basis only however, we found the service to be very slow and when asking for additional drinks it felt like an inconvenience to the staff.
Booking the parking online with the room proved cost effective as it was cheaper than paying on arrival.

Stayed here on an overnight stay, booked through itison. Have previously eaten in the restaraunt but never stayed in the hotel.
All the staff are exceptional and nothing is too much trouble, the service is fantastic.
Our room was lovely, very large for a hotel room, the bed was extremely comfortable and huge, pillows and duvet all very good quality. The air con/heater was noisy, this didn't affect our stay as we did not require the heating on during the night but it would have been too noisy for use throughout the night. I mentioned this on checking out, so further guests would not be affected. Recptionist noted the room number and said she would send the hotel was maintenance, im sure it has now been serviced.
Coffee machine, and kettle in room, plenty of coffee pods, more are available if you require them. A very large bathroom and wardrobe area.
Public areas in the hotel are all well maintained.
The food was gorgeous, I would advise ordering sides with the mains as the portions are rather small. At breakfast there was an excellent choice of food both buffet style or you can order from the menu. Service at breakfast was fantastic, the restaraunt manager who attended (26th/27th january) both breakfast and our evening meal deserves a special mention, his professionalism was outstanding. Some of the buffet food could have been warmer, this is my only slight criticism regarding the food.
My only negative for our entire stay was the new style restaurant. The refurbishment looks fine but the tables should have cloths on for evening service, this is what i would expect of a 5 star establishment. If the table cloths have been removed to help with environmental issues then the plastic toiletrie bottles in the bathrooms also need to go. Maybe the hotel could set an example to others and use solid toiletries e.g. shampoo, conditioner and shower blocks.
All in all an excellent stay, in a good location for many Manchester
attractions, a short walk across the bridge to Spingfields and Deansgate. There the city centre buses are available to all parts of Manchester city centre including the train and bus stations.
Lastly the reception and door staff, who are the front of this fabulous hotel are outstanding, all were far more than just pleasant and helpful.
Would I stay again, a big fat YES.

Dear sandraelsie, Thank you for your stellar review of The Lowry Hotel. It is a pleasure to read that the room where you stayed, the food & beverage offering, the location of the hotel as well as our service exceeded expectations. We very much look forward to welcoming you back as a returning guest to the Lowry. I am so glad you mentioned about the linen and plastic bottles as yes we at The Lowry Hotel are very keen on environmental issues we have just started working with a company called 'clean the world' who take all out part used soaps and they are hygienically cleaned and then shared to the homeless and all our plastics in the room are also looked after by the same company an re cycled. It has been a delight to read your kind comments and we will look forward to you visiting us again in the near future. Warm Regards Jason Orton

We booked the Lowry for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend, we were greeted by the lovely bell boy who helped us with our luggage & took it to our room.
Check in was done quickly, our room was on floor 5, we walked in and it was absolutely huge, biggest room we’ve ever stayed in.
There was a few faults in the room, like a chipped desk, and chips on the mini bar / fridge door. Also the mini bar IS NOT STOCKED! All you get is 2 bottles of water in the fridge! I expected more than that in a 5 star hotel to be honest!
Nice comfy bed, bathroom was lovely with some amazing toiletries.
Breakfast was ok however if your vegetarian then not so good. I asked on 2 mornings if they had anymore cheese, as I didn’t like what was out there, I was told NO, that’s all we do!
The third day I thought I’d ask again, the waitress brought me over ONE piece of different cheese, which I liked however it was on a plate with meat (I am veggie) very off putting.
The staff in the bar area were absolutely amazing, so so friendly as were the reception staff.
Overall we had a fabulous stay and we would return if those small issues were rectified.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in a river view room; we checked out only this morning. Room was very large with a comfy bed and nice sofas. I’m glad there were several LED lights around the room as I always find rooms in large hotels just never seem to be bright enough …. But the Lowry was great in this regard! The toiletries in the bathroom were lovely as they’re Elemis but I just wish they’d use pump dispensers to minimise wastage, it’s also kinder to the environment. Breakfast is really good; you have a good buffet spread of the continental items and hot foods are available to order. The staff at breakfast were great and looked after us really well. We had drinks at the bar during our last night and Callum did a great job looking after us. The location of the hotel is great as you’re literally 10 mins walk away from Exchange Sq so you’ll have plenty of shops and eateries to keep you going ! Parking is also available at an adjacent building and we had no problems getting in and out. Great hotel, I’d highly recommend it.

We arrived Friday afternoon to a warm welcome and very friendly staff. The concierge offered to carry our bags and kindly held the door for us. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and booked in quickly with little fuss. All possible safety measures were taken upon arrival including temperature scanning stations, hands free hand gel dispensers and simple and clear signage. We entered our large room to find a huge bed, sofa, table and chairs, coffee making facilities, large TV and lots more. The room was exceptionally clean and well sanitised and my partner was very pleased to find some nice complimentary bathroom products. The location is great as long as you leave via the back door as this allows you to cross the bridge or follow the river towards the city centre which is around a five minute walk away. We enjoyed breakfast on our last day which was of an exceptional quality time out great views and super friendly staff. I really can’t recommend the hotel enough as they really have got everything right.

Everything about our recent stay was top-notch. We stayed in a. superior room which was pristine and spacious with huge bed, sofa, table/chair plenty of storage and spacious clothes hanging areas and large bathroom.
Everything we could have needed was in the room - fridge, hair dryer, kettle with teas and coffees, iron and ironing board, high quality toiletries, robes, slippers and large fluffy towels.
Breakfast was a huge choice of continental and cooked items as well as an extensive menu of items which could be cooked or made to order. It's served buffet style which did mean some of the items weren't as hot as they could have been but that's the nature of this type of serving. Service was efficient and tables cleared quickly.
We also took dinner in the restaurant on one evening and the quality of the food was good. The hotel offered a 3 course dinner with glass of Prosecco for £25 per person at the time of our booking, so it felt good value and it came with a few options for each course and everything was tasty and well presented. Portions weren't particularly large but that meant we were comfortable enjoying the three courses. The inclusive deal didn't appear to include a side dish with the main course, which would probably be needed if you only wanted two courses, or had a larger appetite.
All in all I felt the deal we had was good value and we did feel like we'd had a special experience here.
The hotel is around a 10 minute walk from St Peters Square in one direction, and 5-10 minutes from the Cathedral and Shambles Square pubs in the other, so it was ideal for what we were looking for. There are also a couple of pubs just a block away which is ideal for a quick stretch of the legs before or after dinner It's also only a few minutes walk from a bus stop on the free city shuttle bus routes.

I was staying at the Lowry Hotel on Saturday night, it was our anniversary we had a pleasant meal in the restaurant afterwards we went up our room. in the room we ordered room service drinks that were around £50, now when I spoke to the lady whom I was ordering room service with she couldn’t understand my order whatsoever and finally when my order did arrive, 30 minutes after I ordered it was totally wrong she she then proceeded by just passing me the tray and wandering off, I took the tray from the lady as soon as I turned around all the drinks fell off tray £50 worth the drinks were still all over the floor. I Rang room service back but couldn’t get through kept on getting put through to reception finally after an hour and rang back and I spoke to a young man who was really polite and helpful apologised and used my name correctly when arriving to the room he knocked on the door and explained that the girl was new and he was really sorry he also gave me the drinks correctly and also Along with some crisps he also then came back with a towel and dried my floor for me on his hands and knees really nice gentleman very polite not like the other lady....

Due to the pandemic, we decided not to fly away. Recently there have been a lot of hotels in Manchester offering special discount to travellers. We took the opportunity & stayed in 2 different hotels last week. I already posted a review for the other hotel. I am going to review The Lowry. We booked 3 nights from Thurs to Sun via their website. We received a special offer 'web exclusive rate' £113 per night & we ordered a breakfast between us in the first morning which cost £36. We had previously had meals in their restaurant The River many times, we always had a great time & enjoyed the food there. So we looked forward to staying at the Lowry. We received an email from the reservation office, they wanted to know what was the purpose of the stay, if any pick up service required & a reservation for the restaurant if we want to have a dinner in the restaurant, they followed the government guidance regarding the Covid 19 pandemic, There was no problem. We replied & informed them what we were intending to do whilst there.
We were not impressed when we checked in. The girl was not informative, we were confused when we were asked to put down £450 for deposit. She did not really explain much, she only said the bill would get sorted when we checked out. We must admit the room was huge & spacious. Also, the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the furnishing of both bedroom & bathroom was dated for a 5 star hotel. The furniture was scratched on the surfaces. There were no HD channels on the small TV. And the AC fan speed could not be adjusted and therefore it was noisy.
According to the email from the booking office, there should be a sanitising kit in our room, but we never saw it existed.
We booked a dinner in the River Restaurant in the first evening. The service & quality of food was excellent as usual. We had their 3 courses set menu coming with a bottle of wine, The price was unbeatable. Whilst we were dining in the restaurant, we checked with the waitress what time they serve breakfast in a morning. We had a breakfast in the restaurant the following morning. The breakfast was delicious, we had no complaints.
When we checked out on Sunday. We were pleased that the male receptionist had eventually worked out how much exactly we needed to pay. He refunded the over charge on the credit card.
Although we were disappointed with the bedroom accommodation there is no doubt we will return to the River restaurant soon.

We stayed just one night on a TravelZoo offer that included dinner, bed and breakfast and a bottle of house wine with dinner.
It was a very good deal and an excellent stay in a superior king size room overlooking the river. The room was spacious and very comfortable with everything we needed, including hair straighteners and a coffee machine, that sadly lacked instructions but we managed to operate it, eventually. Yes, there were a few scuff marks on furniture but nonetheless a very nice room with a lovely view over the river from the expansive full length windows.
Before dinner we enjoyed a beverage on the bar’s terrace which was very enjoyable and staff were very friendly, polite and efficient.
Dinner was outstanding in the beautiful and modern River Restaurant served by very helpful, friendly and efficient waiters. Each of the three different courses were incredibly tasty offering unique and very interesting combinations. The gin cured salmon served with pepper ice cream (yes, pepper ice cream!), sesame crisps, cucumber and tonic gel was sublimely divine! And so too were the main courses (Wild Sea Trout and Salt and Pepper Cod Kiev) and desserts (Peanut Butter Panna Cotta and caramelised White Chocolate Rice Pudding Mousse). The desserts sounded very rich and a little odd but they were absolutely sensational and highly recommended! The complementary wine (Chenin Blanc) was delicious and accompanied each course very well.
Breakfast in the morning was similarly enjoyable and very well cooked and presented.
Travelling during coronavirus can feel risky but we felt very safe here with many safety measures in place.
Great location, once you find the hotel, in the middle of the city but separated and quietened by the river.

I had the most amazing time at the spa at the weekend! From walking into the spa I had the friendliest receptionist welcoming me, I filled in a quick questionnaire and she took me to the changing rooms so I could change into my robe and slippers. I had went there before my appointment so I could use the relaxation room, where there are four beds and a couple of chairs to relax in with a handful of magazines to look at. Just outside the relaxation room there are fresh drinks you can have. I really like spending time in there!
The masseuse was absolutely lovely and gave me some different options with my package so that I got a facial as well included in the price, which was lovely! The massage was amazing and she explicitly catered to my needs with the right amount of pressure for myself. A wonderful experience!
I had booked in for a weekend experience which included scones and tea, but I am vegan so when I was asked about it I said I could only eat them if they were suitable for me. When I arrived I was told that the hotel had made me cakes (a fabulous macaron and slice of chocolate cake), they were absolutely beautiful. I was incredibly touched by this! :)
The only downsides I could say were, that the changing rooms were a bit messy, but this could have been that they were short staffed on the day I visited. And, when I booked the appointment I gave the guy my mobile number and email address, but I never received a booking confirmation. I remembered my time, but the last time I booked at the spa I didn't receive a confirmation either and ended up getting the times mixed up (I arrived at the time I initially wanted to book for, not the time that was given to me), so I ended up not being able to get the massage.
But this is the only place I will get a massage in Manchester, I absolutely love it here and highly recommend it!

Responded 15 Mar 2020
Dear KDi69, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a fabulous review following a recent visit the spa @ the Lowry Hotel. It really does motivate the team to get such a personalised and excellent review as we do all spend a lot of time trying to provide outstanding service to all our guests and it looks like we have achieved this with your visit. I'm sorry to hear that there were a couple of incidentals that were not up to par but that overall your experience was absolutely loved and recommended. We look forward to your imminent return Kind Regards Jason Orton

We received free parking as part of our overnight stay. But the parking does say £12 a day for non-residents.
Hello Linda, yes we can store your luggage before your room is available for check in! Hope to see you with us soon
It depends what you mean as child friendly. It's a top notch hotel in Manchester in a great area.
I did not see many children but it was only the second day of reopening.
