The Lo Hi restaurant is actually the portion of this hotel. They provided us the ice water with filtered water with lime to our hearts content when we arrived that provided much needed hydration. We enjoyed our alcoholic beverages later in the evening during their amazing happy hour. We also enjoyed a scrumptious Fettuccini Alfredo Cheese and Onion Enchiladas with Black Beans and Rice and access to an amazing beach, some of the clearest waters that we have expedited all over the world with a large population of colorful fish, crabs, stingrays, and even a turtle all 25 feet from the shore and without an expensive and unnecessary tour. Ignore the constant offers of tours by tour guides. You will see the same things for free as well as access to a small beach area Further down shaded by multiple palm trees. Be careful not to go into the area where the beach chairs and umbrellas below casitas higher above as you will be constantly harassed by a security guard as even though there are holders for signs to let you know, they opt to put sign into the holders so that they take much pleasure in harassing you instead. To clarify, you do have access to the beach and water and much less crowded than in front of the restaurant or the paid entry area in the middle where the Thursday’s offered, as they do not own it. Nor the area much further out although the tour companies will blow whistles at you and tell you cannot go further out unless you are with a tour, this is false as again, they do not own the water and trying to force you into an over priced tour. Theirs is a map of protected areas in which you need to avoid and yet somehow, they take massive amounts of people into these areas, so not so protected, but will be harassed to get out unless you are in their tour, again, they do not own the water, however best to avoid the protected areas even though they opt not to. The clearest water and best snorkeling is the area to the far right indicated by the yellow snorkel. (see attached) For under $10 USD, you can have access to bathrooms/showers/lockers. Unfortunately the bathrooms are not free and will need to pay, however all of the positives out away the negative.

Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad you were able to enjoy your time on the bay and in the water as well as our food and service! The ins and outs of the bay are a little complicated but staying the right of Lolha to snorkel without a guide is the best advise all around! Please come back soon!

This is our second trip to Akumal and decided to stay for a week at Hotel Caribe Akumal after reading good reviews. The Front Desk Staff was friendly and offered great service. Housekeeping did an awesome job with the rooms and it was spotless. The beach & pool attendants were attentive and always brought out clean loungers and tables to the palapas. The free Continental Breakfast at Lol Ha offered fresh fruit, toast, and latte's were included plus ocean views, priceless! The Budha Garden Spa did a great job with our couples massage. The property grounds were clean, safe, private and quiet. The weekend was busy though quiet by the evening.

Loved our stay at Flamingo 4, we were 2 couples sharing the condo. Bedrooms are huge and beds/pillows comfy. Bathroom shower area large and nicely appointed. Plenty of room for us to spread out and not feel crowded. Kitchen fully stocked if we wanted to cook but nice restaurants within walking distance. The BEST part by far is having the pool and ocean right outside your patio door!

We have been visiting 'Akumal for many years and have stayed at a number of places in or nearby. We have settled on Hotel Caribe Akumal for the past three years, and as long as we can still travel, we will come here. Every place has a great beach, good restaurants nearby, palm trees and sunshine. But the staff at the Caribe and the overall management are the stars here! Perfectly clean, safe, and pleasant all the time. The staff was religious in following COVID prevention methods. They all wore masks throughout the hot days. We enjoy the complimentary breakfast at LolHa as well as the bar at wine time. We are reluctant to pass this good word on for fear that it will become crowded!!

I'm writing this review as a day, better say afternoon visitor. We didn't stay at the hotel, so cannot comment on this, but from what we experienced as day guests it must also be great. The hotel is right on the beach, at the secluded Akumal bay, spared from big waves by a coral reef. When entering all Covid measures were enforced (temp. check, sanitazers, staff wearing masks,...). We were escorted to our table in their open air restaurant, literally few steps from the beach. I'm sorry I forgot our waiter's name, who served us with smile and making jokes with kids. All the meals which we took to share were delicious, generous in portion and reasonably priced for such a location. These were accompanied with some beers and tasty (not sparing) cocktails. Before and after the lunch, we were able to snorkel and see the turtles and you can also opt for a guided official tour from the Dive shop next door.
