My husband and I stayed at Unico 3 nights for a wedding, and didn’t want to leave! We stayed in the swim up pool room, and it didn’t disappoint. Our room was closer to the beach so we had nice privacy, and it remained very quiet. We loved being about to hang out on the patio at night! The pool was amazing. We had trouble finding a spot to sit however once we did, we were able to enjoy poolside drinks and food in the shade. The drinks were so great, and the food was even better. The chicken fried tacos were delicious! As was the guacamole! The staff was amazing, everyone was so friendly and so helpful no matter what it was for. A special shout out to our host Elizabeth, who called for our reservations, changed our COVID test time for us, and booked us a taxi when needed. She was always so fast to respond, and so friendly in person as well. All in all the resort was great, and we really liked that it was an all adult resort. My only complaint would be that the room service took a long time, and the room service food was not that great. With that being said, the food at the restaurants/cafe/pool made up for that. We would love to stay again and are already looking at 2022 dates!

Hotel's Favourite
I had 5 cruises canceled due to Covid 19, so I decided to try my first all inclusive vacation. I called a travel agent and told her to send me somewhere open. My friends decided to wait out Covid, so I traveled solo. It was amazing. From arrival late in the evening, to an early morning checkout, every detail was perfect. The resort was beautiful and kept clean. My local host, Pascual met me on the morning after I arrived. He got my excursion vouchers, verified spa treatments, checked on my departure transportation, and even had the bell boy there to get my luggage to the lobby at 3:55 am. It was wonderful knowing I didn't have to worry about little details. Food: i ate dinner at each of the 4 restaurants and never had a bad meal. I was there for 7 nights and struggled to decide which restaurant I didn't want to eat at twice. Room service was also delicious, but it does take a while. So order earlier. (They will give an estimated time, so you can decide if you want it delivered still. ) Breakfast was only OK, but the lunch at the restaurant and poolside were really good. Spa: they have inclusions, where spa services only cost a 25% service charge. I had 3 spa treatments that were at least 80 minutes each and all of them were wonderful. Beatrice gave the best lava stone massage ever. My favorite excursion was Rio Secreto. The pool service was outstanding. I'm fair skinned and they moved my umbrella to keep me in the shade. I also enjoyed setting up in a lounger on the beach. Reading a good book while they brought me amazing cocktais. I can't wait to go back.

First let me say that the rooms, resort property, and host staff are all excellent. Second, let me say that the entire experience is greatly diminished by the OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD MUSIC played at the pool. I had read the warnings in other reviews but figured it couldn’t be that bad...it is. If you want any peace and quiet, this is not the resort for you. And the large majority of the rooms all face towards the pool so even in your room with the doors closed you can still hear really loud music. No chance for any peaceful daytime siestas in your room. There is a “quiet” pool where no music is played. But that does not help with the noise in the rooms. In addition, seating at the quiet pool is limited so you have to get up at 6 am to reserve a chair...that practice, in general, is annoying because some people reserved chairs at 6 or 7 am and didn’t show up until after 1 pm. So many were turned away because no chairs were available even though they were not occupied. Even the people who start at the loud pool end up coming to the quiet pool because they can’t take the loud music anymore. And then, of course, the quiet pool is no longer quiet! In addition, the loud pool is black bottomed so the water is significantly warmer...like too warm. This will likely be a positive in winter months but the rest of the time...it’s like bath water. And while we were here, temps were so hot we didn’t want to swim in luke warm water. Lastly, the clientele that this property attracts is geared more towards rowdy partiers...when the main activity for the day is beer pong...well, that says it all. If that’s the type of stay you are looking for then this place will appeal to you. Lots of drunken and loud people in both pools and restaurants. Some people were even smoking cigarettes IN the pool. So heed the advice and warnings...if you want luxury, loud, drunken, obnoxious, endless partying then this may be right for you. If you want peaceful, quiet, relaxing luxury...there are much better resorts to try...Grand Velas, Hotel Xcaret, Valentin Imperial, Le Blanc...so many great choices. This IS a pretty property with a good beach and swimmable water. Amenities in rooms are very nice, restaurants are good but not great, service is good. Room service food was terrible. There are just so many fabulous resorts in Riviera Maya (we have been to 22) that are much better than this that this is not one we would personally return to.

Was very happy to get upgraded to a swim up room. The food was amazing. My local host was ok but I saw other hosts that were more engaging. My mom’s guy was amazing. Loved Rafael from the entertainment staff and Drucila gave an amazing spa experience. Wish the swim up bars were open but the pool service for the most part was really good. Favorite restaurant was the Italian and oddly enough their steak was better than the steak house. If your planning a trip as occupancy goes up you may want to reserve your dining ahead of time. You can use the app for that. The gym is still limited and you need a reservation for that as well luckily my husband and I are early risers because the only open spot was always 7am and your only given one hour windows. I don’t have any complaints per say and I’m sure we’ll return because we love the adult only vibes. Oh just a suggestion you may want water shoes for the Unico pool. The bottom of the pool is rough and if you participate in any of the games you run the risk of scraping up your feet.
