I traveled here recently for overnight business trip. Valet (I believe his name was Wes..wish I could remember for sure) was extremely pleasant and helfpul on arrival. Especially since we were trying our best to get in during some snowy wet weather.

The lobby/check-in...really wasnt pleased. They gave us major trouble checking in. ROom was booked under our bosses name and she swears she also gave them my name but they could not find it anywhere in their system. The young lady helping us was very new. I believe she said it was her 3rd day there. She was VERY friendly and kept a smile the whole time but needed a lot of help. It was the "senior staff" that helped her that really irritated me. They were not friendly. Acted like they were annoyed that she needed help and wanted to make sure we were taken care of. Would not smile or look up at us when any quesiton was asked, etc. Very unpleasant.

The room was nice. View of Raleigh was pretty. However the floor was faux wood looking stick-on (laminate? not sure correct term) and there were several pieces coming up/peeling off. There is no way management is not aware of this.

We did visit the hotel bar later in evening and it was great. Bartender was extremely nice. One glass of wine averages $15-$20 though. Wow. Great atmosphere there.

Buffet is in same location the next monring. It was just ok. OVerall room was clean, we slept well and no MAJOR complaints. Just possibly work on some customer service and maybe repair the floors in the rooms.

After a failed ABNB in the area we moved into this property. Upon arrival its kind of different to get to check in. Once you figure it out past the broken escalator it's good from there. The room was very nice when we checked in. One the first day or so had some issues but they were taken care of promptly.
The room is very nice and updated. The TV is extremely small in today standards. The rooms have paper thin walls as a baby was staying net door and at all hours you could hear the child. The bed was amazing and linens were clean and fresh. There was a dust bunny pile under the desk and someone else left over candies too. The coffee and water was adequate but due to no maid service you just had to chase down a room attendant to get new coffee and water. The staff was amazing in every aspect. They were all friendly and very accomodating. As a Marriott gold member I was not offered any breakfast coupons and that was unexpected. Parking was only $15 per night but was not told that either. Just FYI most of the sanitizers were empty throughout the property.

Stay Report - 7/16 to 7/17

Location: Very good for downtown Raleigh.  It's nice that there are entrances on both Salisbury and Fayetteville Street.  You can walk to a ton of restaurants, bars, nightlife etc. from here along with the convention center and the performing arts center.  There's also a lot of street parking around the hotel though its capped at 2 hours during the day.

Hotel: In a better state of repair than many urban Sheratons, and this one has been in Raleigh for a long, long time.  There's a nice lobby on the 2nd floor (Fayetteville street side) which has a coffee shop and a Jimmy V's Restaurant.  I will note that there can be waits for the elevators and they aren't very big.  Also there is currently no valet parking.  Parking is self parking at a garage on Salisbury and it's $15 a day with in and out privileges.  There is a lounge but it's closed weekends.

Check In: We arrived at 3:45 PM and were originally told our room wasn't ready.  I asked for something else and was told I was getting an upgrade.

Room: I'm not sure what the "upgrade" was as I booked a King Traditional, maybe this was a "high floor" as I was on 16? Anyway the room itself was decent and nicely renovated though it did come with an absolutely tiny bathroom.  Also the flooring they put down isn't installed well and it sticks to your feet and pulls up in places.  Lastly, soundproofing is awful.  If people talk in the room next to you or hallway you'll hear every word.  On weekends especially this hotel is overrun by weddings and parties so if you're a light sleeper pack ear plugs.

Overall an okay option for downtown Raleigh.  I do prefer the nearby Marriott though.

I have been visiting Raleigh since 2002 many times as my main scientific collaborator works at NC State University. I stayed in this hotel many times during that period and I liked it quite a lot.

This time my experience is purely negative. I arrived on August 1 and was supposed to stay for 8 nights here. The very first day (on August 2), my room was not served. I complained, and the front manager in a very rude form explained to me that if I want my room to be served, I have to come to the front desk every morning informing them that I was leaving for the day and that I wanted my room to be cleaned. At the same time, he ensured me that they would clean my room every day. I started following this weird requirement starting August 3, and it worked until today, August 7, when they decided once again not to clean my room. When I complained, they only offered me fresh towels and apology, which are totally useless. They were also bringing 2 bottles of drinking water every day, but today they refused to give me the water as the front desk person told me that the water was complimentary only during the first day of my stay (if so, why did they bring the water every day when they actually cleaned my room?)

In addition, the room and furniture here really required innovation.

I was not offered any kind of compensation. They don't really care, and I will never stay in this hotel again.

I recommend everyone to avoid this hotel as Raleigh has descent alternatives.

This was probably a nice Sheraton 20+ years ago, but they have not done anything since. Rooms are beyond outdated. AC barely works, I have it down to "63" and still feels like there is no AC at all. First night getting ready to go to bed and was surprised by a spider on my pillow. Shower has two temperatures, scolding hot and ice cold, no in between. Only bathrooms anywhere near the gym were locked, so if you needed the bathroom during a workout, good luck. Came back after a long conference first day to my room not touched. It's fine if they don't do room cleaning unless you ask, but you should tell your guests that at check-in since that is not the norm. Also, they have stationary containers of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. Found out the first morning two of the three were empty, so even with a new guest they didn't even bother to check and refill. Cafe in the lobby is randomly open whenever they feel like, so definitely don't plan around it being open. Would not recommend staying here.

Room was clean, bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. Outside of that the property is extremely old. My first room had an adjoining door. I could hear the neighbors business meeting word for word. Front desk was accommodating and switched the room. Both rooms smelled like they had previously been smoking rooms 30 years ago. Hallway noise was quite loud - could hear guest room doors closing and housekeeping in the hallway.

We came to Raleigh for a wedding and expected to be staying in a "nice" hotel. Sheraton was a great hotel name in my day but not this one. It is hard to find where the drive access is so we can check in and then the check in desk is one floor higher with no one telling us where to go. The lobby is cavernous and the clerks don't seem interested in getting us checked in. The hall floors are not clean with debris on the relatively new carpet but it was not swept in the two days we were there. The room was small but neat and the beds well made and comfortable but the king size pillows had regular sized pillow cases so the pillow was not covered. Parking was across the street but the signage to find it was difficult to find. We asked for a handicap room and were put on the twelfth floor but only one elevator was working so either a long wait or walk down 12 floors! We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant but the eggs were overdone but the staff was very nice and helpful. The one good highlight was on the last day as we were waiting on the elevator when an employee saw us and escorted us to the employee elevator and then to the outside. Very nice.

By far the most expensive dump I've ever set foot in. So much for a nice New Years room. This room could best be described as a polished piece of crap with a bad polishing, on the 9th floor. Mold on the walls in the room and bathroom, terrible drywall and ceiling patches throughout, vinyl flooring over old carpet peeling up.... this was just upon arrival. Mini fridge is an extra fee, microwave is an extra fee, no trash bags in the trash cans, all things the Sheraton offered us. Trying to get ahold of any staff was as much of a joke as their establishment was. The Sliding glass door/window by the 9th floor elevator was unlocked, seems dangerous. The icing on the cake however was being woken up and run out of our room by the cleaners. Without knocking, the cleaner barged in our room without saying who she was, I told her to "get the f out" as this startled me and I had no clue who it was. Then while i was loading the car this woman came back into the room unannounced and asked my girlfriend when we were leaving. This was at 10:00 1/1/24 in room 927 if any managers ever read this. Im writing this shaking mad, and while i will be reaching out to corporate, I hope this saves someone the displeasure of doing business with the Sheraton in Raleigh.

Hotel itself was nice but staff was rude and unaccommodating. During check in , the staff didn’t tell us about parking , how to get to my room, breakfast anything. He just handed me my key and started back working on his computer. I had to ask him where do I park and how do i get to my room. The room didn’t have tissue in it 😡😡.. the room was half clean , i found hair on the table. The ice machine on the 11th floor was broke. Not to mention something was flying in our room. I will be emailing the CEO of this hotel bc staff needs lots of training . They all seem to be unhappy here. No welcome to Sheraton or nothing lol “ can i help you “ is what i got

The only reason I rated it a 4 instead of 5 is because of its age. The room was spotless & the staff bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. I read some negative comments before we arrived so I definitely didn’t expect the customer service we received from the staff

Parking in the hotel deck comes with a fee. There are various free public parking decks throughout downtown on weekends. WiFi is free. The gym is located on the 1st floor and is fully functioning. All elevators and escalators are in working order.
