Detailed Reviews
The Holiday Inn Raleigh Downtown is in a good location. This building is cylindrical in shape and most likely built in the 1960's, so it has a certain mid century vibe. The parking, which really can't be fixed, is not user friendly. We didn't have trouble parking, but ingress and egress is tricky. We were disappointed that the restaurant was closed, but we were aware that it was closed when we booked. The staff is really great. We arrived shortly after noon and the reception staff member who greeted us said that she would call when a room was ready. She called in less than 30 minutes and we were able to check in early.
The rooms were clean, but the rooms are pretty small. Again, architecturally there really isn't any way to improve this.

Spent a couple days at this hotel for a conference. It is located in a great spot, within walking distance to the convention center and lots of restaurants and bars. The room was clean but was definitely showing its age. Overall, it was just average. Mattress could use an update for sure. Several of the outlets didn't work. Luckily someone had left a surge protector by the bed so I used that to charge my phone. Upon entering the room, I attempted to switch on the lamp by the bed and it made a scary electrical-sounding hissing noise, so I immediately turned it off.
So to sum up, great location, very average hotel.

Lovely staff, so nice and accommodating.
But do you like the sound of trains? Or your neighbors tv? I hope you do if you stay here. Great location, has all the amenities, could use a fresh coat of paint- but the price is right and the location is really what staying here is all about.

Hello NomadicJoy, Thank you for your feedback. It is wonderful to know that you found the property to be very pleasant, the location convenient and our staff to be welcoming. It is unfortunate though that we were not able to elevate your stay experience with us due to the noise you experienced coming from the trains. Our Hotel Management and our maintenance team has been notified of your concerns and are working diligently to ensure that we do not allow our future guests to have this kind of experience. We are determined to deliver a combined sense of comfort and happiness. At the end of the day, it is the smile that we see in our guests and the joy that you share of your stay that we always look forward to. We hope to host your stay soon should you come by our way. Husband and I did an overnight here to explore downtown Raleigh. Very convenient location to explore the area!! Room was good, standard, what we expected. The water in the shower and sinks got hot quickly and had good water pressure. Because of COVID there were not a lot of guests...I think we were even the only people on our floor as we didn't hear anyone else use the elevator.
At 130am the fire alarm went off and the whole hotel had to evacuate to outside. Every one was very orderly and the staff handed out free water bottles and Gatorade while we waited for the firemen to clear the building. It was just a false alarm, but because the staff didn't panic and was visible, all the guests were patient and polite while we waited outside (about 30 min). They very nicely gave us an extra hour late checkout the next day to catch up on missed sleep. Would stay here again.

I stayed in the hotel for two nights February 3rd and 4th for a business trip. The first morning I noticed a couple of red spots on my body but ignored them and to work spending the entire day going to various meetings in downtown Raleigh. Waking up this morning I had itchy bites across my body and blood spots on the sheets. I called the front desk to inform them at 6:30am and the person in attendance, in response to me saying there we bed bugs in their room said "its not my room", let me know they were going off shift and would leave a note. I packed and called again at 7:30am, that person also seemed nonplussed, and let me know they would leave a note with my number for their manager. I left and went to work, no call or follow up from the hotel. Not sure if they addressed the issue and it didn't seem to alarm or surprise the staff. Apparently it is not concerning enough to warrant a follow up with the affected guest.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the parking is easily accessible with large spots and easy access to the elevator. The view from the restaurant upstairs is excellent. The property is well located and a short walk to many restaurants and museums. The hotel is older but the rooms are clean, well maintained and well appointed. It is easy to access from the highways and parking is reasonable. They don’t have valet parking but you don’t need it. The only downside is at peak times you can wait a minute for the elevators.

+1
My overall experience at this hotel was poor. The room was filthy with hairs on the sheets and bathroom walls. In addition, the comforter smelled dirty. There was deferred maintenance throughout the hotel, adding to a general sense of neglect and poor management. The ceiling in the hotel restaurant was leaking, creating a saturated spot on the carpet. Hotel staff stuck a warning sign underneath the leak, but did not add a bucket to catch the water. Thus, the water continued to drip on the sign, splash outwards, and create an ever-expanding saturated spot on the floor for guests to traipse through. And to add insult to an already poor experience, the restaurant chair was damaged and allowed a nail to poke through the seat cushion into my wife’s palm.

3 of us stayed in room 1515.
The Good:
The hotel is located on Hillsborough and isn't too far from NCSU. The room had a keurig with 4 complimentary coffees (2 regular and 2 decaf) as well as 2 tea bags.
The Bad:
The parking deck winds around the hotel up to the 5th floor. You could only access the elevators on the 2nd and 5th foors. I believe the card readers on 3 and 4 were not working. So if you park on the 3rd or 4th level you will have to walk up a steep incline or down a steep decline to get to a working card reader. Also one of the 2 access doors on the 5th level didn't work.
The Ugly:
The bathtub drain - didn't. The lack of draining meant you were left standing in several inches of water. Some of the wallpaper is also peeling away in several places around the room.
I won't be staying there again.

In 30 years of travel this is the worse hotel experience I have had. The rooms smelled like wet gym socks. T.V was 26 inches, and I had to ask for a legit remote. Closet busted with open nails exposed. (2 year old in room) No restaurant even though website says there is one. Not even continental. Even though we were in the heart of the south there was no southern hospitality. O asked the GSA at the front desk a question about the closest store she seemed upset that I disturbed whatever she was doing on her phone. One manager told a guest (that was complaining about bugs in his room) “You can call guest experience if you want, but they don’t solve problems, they just email me whatever you say to them.” Ouch! It’s nice to know that no one at any level, property or corporate care about your experience. Working in the industry I never write these reviews, however the hotel was an embarrassment to everyone in the service industry as whole. If this is best you can do you should close the doors.

The location is very good and convenient in downtown Raleigh. That's about it.
The room had crumbs on the floor from previous guests. Used ink pen lying on the floor. Very disgusting. So much for the IHG Commitment to Cleanliness! We advised the front desk on check out and they said "thanks for letting us know". Not even an apology. We were very concerned about the cleanliness of the room after seeing this.
Various electrical outlets and lamps were not working.
There was an in-room mini-fridge that looked like it had been through a hurricane.
Restaurant and bar is closed, and unfortunately nowhere nearby to get breakfast within a short walk.
I stayed at this hotel just over before Covid and found it to be OK. That is no longer the case.
As a top tier iHG member I do expect better - and every guest deserves better than this!
With the major development going on downtown Raleigh it would be best to just raze the property and redevelop. I do not see it as a going concern.

There was a door in my room.
I'm not sure but would ask the front desk folks
We do not have a hotel airport shuttle. As previously responded, Uber is the least expensive, followed by private transportation or taxi. Uber is typically in the $30 - $40 range. Taxi is highest, $55 - $65 each way. We are happy to arrange transportation through one of our partners, ~$50 each way.

I think they are a good hotel but do not have all the bells and whistles that go with it.
Parking is $7 per car per day. The garage is connected directly to the building with access for each guest.
