This is an expensive hotel for the standard they offer. Located in a very noisy area. It’s good for going out to clubs but at the weekends you can forget about sleeping. The hotel offers a basic breakfast that is the same every day. Also no housekeeping if one stays less than four nights.
great stay for a wedding weekend..right in the middle of the action! we're warned that it was exceptionally loud and wild but we slept through most of the noise and were not affected at all. staff was great, hotel clean, followed covid protocols to the letter.
This was my first time staying at this hotel and I really enjoyed it. The location is perfect if you want to enjoy the downtown glenwood area. There are SEVERAL bars/eateries within walking distance. Overall, the staff was very nice and the hotel has a good complimentary breakfast.
We travel a lot and we were very impressed by the team at this Hampton Inn. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Lilly at check-in was super efficient, all with a smile. Jaime and Darnell deserve kudos as well as the team at the breakfast station. Our only complaint is that the indoor pool has to be the coldest heated pool I have ever found in my travels. The rest of our stay was wonderful. (And the complimentary earplugs against the nightlife downtown were not needed!)
Avoid this location. They charge for items that you did not use, and management will not discuss them. Being a Diamond member and they show no loyalty let alone being honest. Worst in customer service in all my years of business travel.
Our stay was amazing the rooms was clean and beautiful. We felt right at home. The staff did a wonderful job with setting up our suite for our anniversary. Thanks again Josh, Lily,Rhonda and Jamie. We will see you soon. Blessings. ❤️🤩🙌🏽
Don’t bet on this hotel for booking your wedding guests Canceled after our save the dates went out. Said they “overcommitted”! Will make sure this gets known! Poor communication and lack of professionalism by the Director of sales, Sam. Think again before working with them
Party central—beware the noise of nearby clubs! If booking a nice hotel crash pad to stumble back to after a great night out in the dance clubs just steps away, then THIS is your spot! Typical Hampton Inn family hot breakfast is always good. But if you wanted to be downtown for business, getting an affordable room while visiting your kids at NC state, this may not be right for you. They literally have a bowl of earplugs, chamomile tea bags, and available white noise machines at the front desk, with LOTS of signage warning you about the noise. Even with the earplugs in and the AC set on “constant fan”, we were still awakened a couple of times at 2-ish AM and 3-ish AM by the low frequency thump-thump bass of some dance song from the closest club. I am sure the hotel predated the epic growth of this area to the booze-central and dance club-central that it currently is. Great parking lot across the street. If you do end up here, I recommend the Raleigh Beer Garden as the most tame bar of you head out for a nightcap. I would eat dinner in another region downtown. (We stayed here this time because we had stayed here a couple of years ago when we dropped a kid off at NC State. We remembered a tidy hotel in a nice area with a lot of restaurants (they were all closed because of COVID), so we booked it again when we were again dropping off for the start of junior year. A LOT has changed and the boozy neighborhood and some sketchy hotel guests were a different scene entirely. We still had fun going out briefly for a cocktail down the street, but would have liked to have slept better!…
Josh and his staff went above and beyond for my birthday staycation. I live in town but enjoy going downtown for dining and bars. Josh was alerted ahead of time that’s it’s just birthday. When we walked into our suite, it was decorated with adorable pink balloons and crystal streamers! I highly recommend this hotel for your stay on Glenwood South.
Clean, room size is fine for a weekend stay, and staff was efficient and attentive. The location is convenient to restaurants and bars BUT it is in the middle of a very busy nightlife. You are warned at check-in about the noise (up until 3AM). They offer ear plugs and a sound machine, but you will either need noise cancelling headphones or be ready to pass out! Apparently when the bars close, the party moves to the street and engine “reving” begins. If this is your jam and you can sleep in, this is a great spot for you!!
