Detailed Reviews
Please be wary when staying at the StateView Hotel in Raleigh if you are placed in a handicapped room. The shower floods the entire bathroom. Of course when I accepted the room I had no idea this would be the case. There was also lack of a standing lamp which meant a portion of the room was very dark. Although I alerted staff there was no offer to come a remove the water which persisted for 2 hours or more, a hazard. It made using the facilities a little awkward. Otherwise the hotel is well appointed but certainly does require the staff to give more attention to the detail. I do suggest you read the reviews particularly the replies from management on the site. These rooms cost >$300. I would expect excellent service.

We chose this hotel for a quick impromptu get-away when the Autograph Collection hotel we first chose was booked (Chapel Hill - UNC had a home game). There was nothing seriously wrong with this hotel, other than some mold in the bathroom and some damaged to the trim and furniture (see pictures), but it was not what I have come to expect from an Autograph Collection hotel. Even the furnishings and finishes felt more like a moderate Marriott or even a nicer/newer SpringHill Suites-type hotel. I am glad we got a good rate because if we had paid what we usually do in an Autograph Collection hotel, I would have been seriously disappointed.
The lobby was clean, but smelled of a cleaner that strongly resembled a group of teenage boys and Axe body spray. On the morning of Day 2, while cleaning was actively happening, the smell was much stronger.
The staff was pleasant and helpful.
The location on NC State’s Centennial Campus is lovely. Our view was dominated by the back roof (see picture), but did include the tree line and Lake Raleigh.
Would I return? Depends on why I’m going and how busy the area is. This would not be my first choice.

The hotel and the location itself were nice. The facilities were nice and there is an outdoor pool. Some of the staff were friendly. The food (breakfast) was very good and the portions are big. The home fries were delicious.
During my online check in, I had marked that I want our room cleaned but upon arrival they told us that there is no housekeeping service. I had requested extra towels the next day due to no housekeeping, and whoever came to left us the towels didn't lock our room, so the door could have been pushed open by anyone.
We were not explained that we need to tell the restaurant staff that we have breakfast included and the waiters asked us if we have vouchers or coupons but we didn't, so we said no, only to find out that some of the items on the menu were not included with the breakfast. This not clearly explained and the staff should ask if we have breakfast included instead of coupons, which would have made more sense.
In the evening, there were bills left on the table for at least an hour, I could see peoples room numbers and their names. Meaning if I wanted to, I could have ran up a bill to somebody else's room. Also the tables were cleared in the evenings.
The towels were left by the pool until the morning, nobody was bothering to clean/maintain the pool area.

Natasha, your feedback means a great deal to us and we are eager to address these concerns. While it's terrific to know your impression of our overall property and accommodations was positive, we apologize we marred your stay with the lack of explanation and attention to detail from our team. We know that we can restore your trust if given another chance. Thank you.

We were passing through town And needed to spend the night on our way between Atlanta and New York City. The hotel is modern, elegant, and clean. The staff everywhere went above and beyond to be accommodating with our every request and friendly. One of the sheets on our bed had spots on it, and the staff immediately provided us with clean sheets, (it was already pretty late at night, but service was very quick), apologizing profusely and giving us voucher for snacks and extra value on already complimentary breakfast. We enjoyed the fire pit at night. Breakfast was excellent, with many different menu options, room view is lovely even if you face the parking lot and not the lake as it’s a wooded area. We decided to leave a bit later to enjoy the first warm day and sparkling clean pool. Our two kids ( and us) enjoyed the heated pool thoroughly. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and hope to be back again!

VERY nice property. Second time i have stayed here in two years. Second time in 2 years I’ve come back to my room after 4 PM and my room has not been cleaned. I called the front desk and seem to have a need to be told that they could be behind becuase they are sold out. Well, if business is so good then hire staff to clean the rooms. Don’t pay to stay in a property such as this and feel as if it is acceptable to not clean a room. I would give this property a 4 but because the basic cleaning of a room seems to be a monumental task and the fact that i need to understand that its 4:08 in the afternoon and after working all day they will send someone. NO! Wrong. Have sufficient staff to maintain an AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION property. Once a hobo is ok. Twice. Nah. Its common

I stopped staying at this hotel because they could not get a small administrative task correct. They are given a credit card authorization prior to my arrival and the room is supposed to be charged to that. When I arrive I provide my card for incidentals. At the end of each month after having stayed here, I’d always have to call back and have the charges reversed off of my card and put back onto the initial card. Tonight, My business has kept me in town an extra night. I had been at a RI near Crabtree but their rate was significantly higher tonight than the Stateview’s. When I arrive at the hotel at 7:30 after a very long day in the office and I’m looking forward to having dinner in the restaurant here within the hotel, I’m told that it’s still closed! Oh and No room service either! WHAT? Why doesn’t the Marriott website or Bonvoy App tell me this?!?! I’m exhausted and quite frankly don’t feel like getting back in the car to go pick up dinner! The front desk manager apologizes profusely and says we have no control over what Marriott puts on their website or app. I said it’s OK as long as the pool is open! Because after 12 hours in the office today, I had great visions of sitting and relaxing around the pool tomorrow before I head home. NOPE! Again... Why doesn’t the Marriott website or Bonvoy App tell me this?!?! And now I’m checked in, translation = handcuffed to stay here with no option but to go back out to pick up dinner! You may think it’s as easy as having something delivered however my corporate policies do not permit paying for delivery charges!
As I sit here typing this the Internet and TV keep crapping out. Basically I should’ve stayed at the Fairfield Inn because they can offer better amenities than this Marriott Category 5 hotel! SO DISGUSTED and frustrated!

Dear 5fillies, Thank you for staying at The StateView and providing us this valuable feedback. We should have done a better job communicating to our guests the limited services we are currently providing. We are committed to follow Governor Cooper's laws, exceeding Marriott International standards for cleanliness, and providing a comfortable stay. We share your passion in getting our food and beverage services up as soon as possible. We will be offering limited services starting July 1. We amplified our offerings in our Market, but that is not reaching our customer's needs. We also share your passion in getting our Outdoor Pool available. We have been working with officials for an inspection for over 30 days and we believe it will be open very soon. We want to earn your business on your next travels to Raleigh. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me directly at karris.deis@pyramid hotelgroup.com, and I want to personally handle your reservation. Karris Deis Director of Sales

There is no desk or chair in the rooms.
The hotel has almost entirely eliminated housekeeping service. I had a reservation for 14 nights, but moved out after 8. During those eight days I asked many times for my room to be cleaned. It was not cleaned even once.
The staff at the front desk couldn’t care less, everyday they would say the room would be cleaned the next day.
Still I am a platinum elite member, I wonder how they treat others. I would avoid this place in the future.

I've got to say, I travel a LOT and our experience at this hotel was hands down the best I've ever had! It started at check in, the front desk associate was incredibly sweet and came around from behind the desk to give me a quick little tour of the amenities. I've never had an associate do that before.
It was New Year's Eve and one of our gowns had an issue and we called down to see if they had a safety pin. They said that they would check. Literally 3 minutes later, Kathy came up to our room with not just 1 but 2 sewing kits that had safety pins in them.
Once we finished getting ready, we headed downstairs to get to our uber and Kathy then offered to take our picture in front of the Christmas tree. Without even asking us! She proceeded to take dozens of photos from different angles like a total PRO! We told her where we were going and of course there would be a lot of champagne involved so again, without us requesting anything, Kathy brought all 5 of us little mini water bottles and told us to hydrate for the long night ahead. I mean... WOW! Kathy is a ROCKSTAR associate and I cannot possibly give her enough praise for her hospitality.
After the gala, we arrived back at the hotel quite late and Christina, the evening front desk associate greeted us with a warm smile. I asked her if we could have a late checkout, for obvious reasons. She said absolutely and extended it until 2pm! One of the girls asked her for a water and she came back with a hotel bag filled with tons of waters! I complemented her and told her how awesome she is. I told her about how great Kathy was to us earlier in the day. Turns out... she was Kathy's daughter! Of course it was!
They were both SO amazing and hospitable. Those two are the absolute epitome of hospitality and anticipatory service. Very very impressed and those two should be acknowledged and rewarded!

This was very disappointing and not what we expected. From pre check-in inquiries (chocolate and champagne offerings to treat m spouse to a surprise), pre check-in room requests (extra towels, wash cloths, hand cloths, lotion, pillows, blankets), lack of room service with real food, not gift store sandwiches, for late arrivals, the inability to call to the restaurant and place a breakfast order for pick up, the lack of staff to deliver the extra towels that you previously requested to the room, forcing you to have to go back downstairs to get them, the rancid walnuts in the French toast, the smoothie that did not have banana listed as an ingredient, but clearly had extremely ripe bananas in it and the strawberry garnish that was close to turning into wine, a debris riddled pool and finally the $1.00 long distance room charge for a phone we only used to call the front desk, we were less than impressed with our stay. The best thing about the hotel was the location, especially if you need to be close to NC State. If this is one of the higher end Marriott properties in the area, I would tell you just stay at a Residence Inn. They are generally better and you know what to expect. Also, do not pay extra for a corner lake view room during the Spring/Summer. We had a view of a parking lot out of one window and the trees out of the other. If we had chosen the Doubletree at least we would have been greeted by warm cookies!

Checked in, after entering the "1st" room my wife does her usual linen and mattress check, soiled and stained linen on one of the beds so we requested linen but we were offered a new room, so we accepted hoping for better. After doing another check in the "2nd" room, the linen in this room was even worse. BOTH beds linens were stained. At this point we asked that new linen be sent up and we would make the beds ourselves. After waiting 40 minutes no one came, so we decided to leave for dinner/shopping, assuming new linen would have arrived after a 4hr outing...WRONG! We were offered yet another room and Paula was doing as much as she could to be accommodating especially with this being our 3rd try at what should be the absolute standard for a hotel of this rate and a partof the "Autograph Collection". Wish I would have adhered to the previous reviews warning of similar situations and chose to stay elsewhere. By far the worst situation I've experienced from a Marriott property. Very disappointed!!!
