Nestled in a prime location, the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel garners appreciation from many guests for its proximity to local shopping and dining, enhancing the ease of exploration. The hotel's rooms are frequently lauded for their cleanliness and comfort, though a few guests have noted occasional towel shortages.
While the service consistently receives accolades for its friendliness and professionalism, opinions on the hotel's atmosphere and amenities are mixed, with some guests finding the decor unusual and the amenities limited. Despite this, the majority of travelers enjoy a memorable stay, even as some mention unexpected fees affecting the overall value.

Detailed Reviews
My company held our recent sales meeting at this hotel and while I did not stay here, I had a wonderful experience at our meetings every day. First of all, the valet staff lead by Holland was wonderful. One day I forgot something in my car and they helped me retrieve it no questions asked. Secondly, the group meals at this hotel were some of the best I have had at hotel buffets! It’s the little things like this that make a difference between hotels, especially when you travel a lot for work.

Dakota the Valet greeted us at the front door of the Renaissance, and set the tone for our wonderful trip. He was helpful and accommodating. He was cheerful and professional. And then we were so happy that we got to see him when we ordered our car to be delivered on departure, and Dakota was the valet that brought our car back to us at the front door. The Renaissance at North Hills is a hotel location with so much to offer and their staff members like Dakota, make it a truly special occasion, and we felt like royalty !

This is a review of events at the Renaissance.
We do events all over the Triangle (& at some pretty exclusive spots) but we were SO blown away by staff & facilities here.
From pulling up front and having Holland help plan parking and equipment staging for our team, to the front desk staff being SO knowledgeable & helpful, it made me wish all local event spaces were so awesome to work with.
The other thing is how posh & flexible the facilities are — I saw guests just hanging out in really comfy looking sitting areas chatting, and for my photo needs the spaces are just lovely (and flexible to do everything from portraits with classy background looks, to the grand staircase for groups).
I also saw staff calling new guests arriving with luggage by name & joking with them— so they seem really tuned in to people.
Frankly things were so well done, I think we’ll do an employee award of an escape weekend here (and I’ll hint my Team should take notes on how the place runs 🤣 )
To sum up — great people make a great event, the spaces are flexible & nice here, and it’s also in a very convenient location with shopping, parking options, etc nearby.

Overall, a clean and comfortable hotel. I haven't stayed there in a couple of years, but I did notice an overall decline in the condition of the hotel and service. My room was clean; however, the toilet constantly ran and the shower was constantly dripping (wasted water). I mentioned that my room needed maintenance when I checked out. Hopefully the staff followed up. I arrived late to the hotel due to flight delays. I tried numerous times to get the mobile key on my phone via the app, but it kept showing "preparing your mobile room key" - never got it. Upon check-in, I wanted to get a glass of wine to relax in my room while I unpacked. No bartender to be found, until I went to the front desk and asked for them to find him/her. There were others waiting for service, as well. On the last morning of my stay, I contacted the front desk to ask for a "late" (30 minutes later) check out. Check out time is 12:00 noon, but I asked if I could check out at 12:30 instead, as I was attending a conference that was wrapping up at noon. I was hoping to keep my bag in the room, so that I could change quickly in my room before catching a flight home. I was told no.... "If I do it for you, everyone else will want to do it." Wow, what an unprofessional response. I didn't think 30 minutes would be so disruptive to the flow of housekeeping. The staff is generally pleasant and professional, aside from my brief conversation with the front desk asking for a later checkout time. I stay at this because it's convenient for my conference attendance, but I'm disappointed with my most recent experience and stay, here. Generally, not Marriott standards.

This is a beautifully located hotel in the center of great dining, activities, and shopping. The hotel room we were given had a toilet seat that was wobbly, the tile entrance which was sticky, and there was a stain of melted plastic on the bathroom floor but never got cleaned. We shared all of this info upon check out and the rep at the desk did notate it. My wife and I also experienced itching when we were in the beds so we’re not too sure what that was attributed to, but it was interesting that we both felt it. I’m not sure if this made a difference but we secured this room with points, and we felt that we were given just a standard room without being asked for an upgrade, as we are Gold members. The staff besides that we’re very friendly and our saving grace was the humor and customer service Vicky from the restaurant. No matter how busy she was she made us feel at home, and was just a chair in the light to have a conversation with. We really do like the actual hotel, and will make plans to stay here in future, but I hope that the hotel management sees that the rooms are in need of upgrades and that the cleaning staff needs to do a better job of keeping cleanliness standards up. We also say this because after each day a room was made, the beds were not made all the way, One day the cleaning gloves were left on the area by the clock and pieces of plastic? They were a few stains on the carpet but that was neither here nor there but with lack of attention to details I hope this improves going forward.

My son and I stayed here for a night. I live in the area, but my son was visiting from out of town. They did not disclose the $100 insurance fee that they put on your credit card along with the nights room rate. Days later I am still waiting for this to drop off. Marriott also charged my credit card for a stay at Carolina Beach Courtyard that I cancelled due to Hurricane Helene. Neither of these rooms were inexpensive. Beware.

Dear 10brucen, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Upon check-in, a credit card is required for room, tax & incidentals; an authorization occurs to be sure funds are available, but the card is not charged. The balance of this authorization is released upon your departure, but can take up tp 10 business days to be recognized by your bank. I’m sorry that this was not effectively communicated and for any frustration caused. Again, on behalf of the staff and management, I apologize. Sincerely, Melissa Chunn General Manager

The association I work for has been using the Renaissance for ALL of our business & board meeting along with overnight stays. We usually book MONTHS in advance - signed contracts by both parties. Three business days before our conference (folks coming from all over the state) we get a call from the sales department saying that WE can not stay and that they overbooked our rooms and WE are the ones that have to leave. They offered us rooms at another hotel (which is NOT what we wanted or we would have gone there) but nothing else. They did the whole 'we apologize and we understand how frustrated you are' talk but didn't didn't truly feel any remorse from them. I hate that this is the way we are being treated after so many years of providing business to them. While it is a beautiful hotel, DO NOT give them your business.

The was a basic hotel. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The plus was the location being in close proximity to shopping and restaurant. We did have an issue with the linens provided in our room. There was a hand towel with make up on it and two towels that were visibly dirty. Fortunately, there were towels that we could use. It did give us pause about using even those that were “clean” considering the possibility that those might be reused. Some checks and measures have to be placed on the housekeeping staff.

Stayed here one night with my college-aged daughter. The hotel is in a great location with cute shops and good restaurants nearby, but this property is nowhere near worth the $250/night price. First, there is no valet service so we parked at the general parking lot for the area. Not a huge deal, but there weren't any luggage carts and it was raining the day we checked it, so it wasn't fun schlepping our bags in the rain (to be fair, we later learned there is underground parking available in the back of the hotel) Check in was ok - none of the front desk staff was very friendly and you got the sense you were bothering them. (I also found it surprising that no room upgrades were available midweek during a pandemic for a Titanium level Bonvoy member) The room was nice enough (shower in particular was very good) - we weren't on the side of the hotel facing the highway and were on a higher floor so it was quiet. The big issue I had was there weren't any amenities (no gym, the restaurant and bar were closed, and no coffee in the hotel lobby) or anything otherwise exceptional to warrant the price and attitude. You'd be better served saving some money and staying at either the nearby Aloft or Hyatt House.

My stay at this hotel was almost the worst stay I have ever had. They did not have the specific type of room I reserved months ago and put me in a lower priced accessible room, room #912. What is the point of making a reservation if they are going to give your room away? This particular room had a loud clicking/tapping noise from outside the wall by the balcony door. I don't know if it was something from the roof or what, I spent a half an hour trying to figure it out and couldn't. I could not get any sleep. I would have switched rooms if my children weren't already asleep. It kept me up all night. Also the accessible shower got water all over the bathroom despite the flimsy shower curtain.
So beware when you check into this hotel as they may not have the specific upgraded room you reserved and will stick you someplace else. It was a horrible experience. The check in person didn't even tell me at first that my room type wasn't available, so they try to pull one past you. After I went to the original room they tried to give me and saw that it wasn't what I paid for, I came back and argued with them and got stuck in a less comparable room with all kinds of issues. It's so irritating that they tried to put me in a room that costs way less then what I was paying for, and not even say anything. I specifically reserved and paid for a higher floor room with a midtown view of the shopping center. The original room they gave me was on a low floor with a view to the back parking lot.
The room itself was not very clean, the bathroom was constantly getting soaked with water whenever anyone took a shower. So much so that water was running on the floor from the bathroom out to the front entryway. The balcony was disgusting with dirt and dead bugs and cob webs. The constant loud clicking/tapping on the walls.....hotel staff really needs to investigate that. For a four star hotel and as much as I paid for one night (over $250), I expected a lot more in terms of service and cleanliness. There is a beautiful AC hotel and Hyatt Place in the same location, my advice is to stay there instead.
