More organic than ornate, and a bit more Fitzgerald than flapper, The Skyline Lodge offers an authentic mountain retreat with the comforts and creative surroundings of an historical destination. Hidden upon Flat Top Mountain of Highlands, N.C., the inspiration for this mountain-top lodge ranges from the nature-based architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright to mid-century modern. Cathedral ceilings, locally quarried granite block, custom-crafted and sustainably sourced furniture, and raw materials surround guests while they enjoy abundant access to the outdoors, fresh spring water from the neighboring Flat Rock Mountain and the serene sounds of babbling brooks. We are not completely off the grid though – guests may check themselves in with a downloadable key and a smartphone. Or for a more communal experience, an in-person check-in at our lobby coffee and retail shop could very well result in a welcome beverage and seasonal snack upon arrival. The Skyline Lodge is also home to the celebrated Oak Highlands Steakhouse and Butler’s Bar, both apt retreats for memorable experiences at the beginning or finale of your next mountain adventure. Guest Room Features: • Complimentary high-speed wireless internet • 44-inch flat-panel televisions • In-room safe • In-room coffee and tea • Custom-crafted, all-foam mattresses made in the Carolinas • Most rooms have a private balcony terrace or patio terrace Guest Bath Features: • Marble vanities • Heated Floors • Mosaic floor tile by Ann Sacks • Classic, mid-century era style fixtures

Our first trip to the area was great and Skyline Lodge was a big part of that. Comfortable attractive rooms in a beautiful location just outside of town. Staff was kind and helpful. Very good value. Look forward to a return visit

Hotel's Favourite
Hands down the best place to stay in Highlands, NC. My wife and I stayed at Skyline Lodge for our Anniversary and it only exceeded expectations. We have stayed at other places in this area but this has been our favorite and will return. Memorable from start to finish and the staff was wonderful. Feels like you are miles away while so close to everything Highlands has to offer. Oak Steakhouse being onsite gives you no reason to want to leave the property. Do yourself a favor and book with Skyline Lodge!

Overall it was pretty good, but quite expensive for what you receive in the room. I was disappointed because the water from the shower turned my blonde hair green (streaks of green). I am still trying to get the minerals out.

Mrs. Vaughn, Thank you much for the review. I am very sorry to hear about the issue with your hair. Not something you want on your anniversary. This is something we will certainly investigate. I would love to speak with you about your stay and your concerns. Please feel free to contact me 828-526-4008 option 0. Ask for David. Thank you. Hope to hear from you.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on a recent trip through Highlands. It was super nice and we called it rustic chic. Our room had a beautiful view and the room itself was top notch. Super comfortable bed and heated tile in the bathroom. What more could you ask for. We didn’t eat at the Oaks but it was full the nights we were there. We enjoyed to common area with Adirondack chairs and fire pit. And we got a great hiking recommendation from the front desk. Ranger Falls was a mile away and it was awesome. We will return to Skyline Lodge for sure!

I was extremely impressed with our service. The warm welcome from the staff/Manager, our very clean room with a view including two bottled waters (free), yummy chocolates from the restaurant, hand written card, and heated floors were a very nice touch. The multiple fire pits & smores made it easy to relax and meet new people. Our dinner at the Oak Steakhouse was delicious. Shannon & Colin made it that much more memorable by going above and beyond serving us. We even were able to enjoy our favorite bottle of wine that is very rare to find. I would highly recommend the Skyline Lodge.
