We enjoyed our stay at Kefalonia Bay palace. Friendly staff, easy check in /out. This hotel offers great sea view, where you can capture sunrise and sunset. Delicious breakfast at terrace. Walking distance to restaurants and taverns along the bay of agia effimia. Things to know before going: 1- This hotel doesn't offer a private beach (just the view) - only pool (we were driving across the island to visit popular beaches such as antisamos and myrtos). The available beach is public and you reach by stairs with no much spaces for chairs or anything. 2- I will not recommend it for anyone with physical limitations as there are stairs to reach your room. The view is worth it though :) 3- Bathrooms are OK - need some upgrade. Overall, it was a lovely stay - quite, relaxing and romantic. 5 stars

We were the last guests to check in before the hotel closed for the winter. We were given a very warm welcome and allowed to check in early. We were invited to an end of season dinner which consisted of many courses of local dishes - much more food than we could eat and was delicious. Our room was ideal for the two of us for 2 nights with a lovely balcony area. As mentioned in other reviews, there are steps to all the rooms, but the staff helped us with our luggage. We are in our 60's and did not struggle at all. The staff were excellent and the hotel cats well cared for and endearing.

Dear annesO1273RZ, a big thank you for this wonderful comment and of course the highest rating. It was our pleasure to have you with us! Thank you for being part of our End-of-Season Dinner with all these delicious typical local dishes. It was really a warm & lovely evening. The end of season has always its very own flair and beauty. Nevertheless it's self-spoken that our service and care is 100% until the last day and your appreciation makes us very happy. We hope to welcoming you again in our little paradise! We are returning guests we visited the first time in 2015 when the hotel and its facilities were fairly new and felt luxurious. This was our third visit and the positives for us are the staff (Cassie on reception) has been a constant for us since our first visit and is an absolute star in our opinion. Always helpful and incredibly knowledgeable. I think George was still there moving supplies up and down the steep slopes on his motorbike (both the external lifts were not working) but we didn’t speak with him. The cleaning, breakfast and pool bar team are all hard working and friendly. The views from every room, the restaurant and the pool are still amazing! We spoke with the Manager about the refurbishment plans and the stand outs for us are to get the 2 external lifts working. To create toilets at the swimming pool level. Refurbish all the bathrooms to a modern standard and use some of the unused external space to create shaded areas which is lacking at present. If money is no object create a lift from the street level to pool level and repair the drive. Final comments there is currently no ‘social’ space in the evenings why not use the pool bar? Closing up at 6pm was explained as being due to staff shortages but to be honest on our experience it’s always closed early.

Dear Caroline S, thank you so much for your rating and feedback. It's a pleasure to read that our staff with all their efforts to give our guests "a home far away from home" feeling by going the extra mile, were an asset to your stay with us. All your recommendations have been noted and some of them have already been on our list as well. Just on a side note the big external lift had been working during the summer and just went of service in mid September and we truly would like to apologize for it. The damage couldn't be fixed to the extension that we can guarantee the safety of our guests, which is priority for us. Regarding the 2nd unfinished lift, which have never worked, we surely looking into the option of completing it. Regarding the pool bar we don't know how the previous owner was handling it in aspect of opening times. Surely it's a wonderful place for socialising and be assured it's also in our interest and vision. We hope to welcome you again for your 4th visit and in a new old glance! Warm Regards from Kefalonia from all of us, Kefalonia Bay Palace Management & Team

Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff at the hotel. You made us feel so welcome during our stay. Extremely warm, friendly and happy to give advice on things to do in the surrounding area. Lots if reviews talk about the flights if stairs that lead up to the rooms but the hotel is built on a hillside - so other than lots of gradual walk ways that would spoil the landscape, there isn't a lot that can be done about it. I also think that the elevation is the reason whyvthe views are so truly amazing. I understand after reading other reviews that there is a plan for further investment in the closed season which I think is a fantastic idea. As a returning guest I would love to see the bathrooms updated, maybe with a walk in shower, with a nice glass panel and new tiles. I also think that doing something with the couple of bits of spare land on the different levels could be an exciting opportunity. Maybe an outdoor cinema or sports area. The pool is the best the area and much more glamorous than more expensive hotels. I do think the communal areas could be modernised, maybe with a modern tiles around the coomunal walking area, adult bean bags and a spruced up pool bar. What impressed me the most about the hotel was the Manager and her sheer determination to do her best for the guests, I seen her in the morning supporting the staff with breakfast, then the same afternoon offering refreshments to her guests and to my amazement in the evening when she was jet washing the pool area! The Hotel are lucky to have such a dedicated and driven head of the team - I know given the investment that the hotel needs to make the improvements that she and the lovely team will make Kefalonia Bay Palace even more amazing.

Just returned home after a week here with my daughter . The hotel is spotless and the staff are very welcoming and friendly . The views are excellent. The pool is huge . The breakfast is ok . However the hotel lacks atmosphere and is in need of some repairs and update. There is no toilet near the pool you have to climb 4 flights of stairs and we only found the lower ones by accident as there were no sign . The drinks are very expensive £4 euro for a can of coke or sprite . Local wine was less expensive. Yes it’s very quiet 🤫 and peaceful but a very long walk into the harbour and yes lots and lots of steps. There was a pool bar and the staff were great however they had to climb up and down many many stairs for the food for guests . No entertainment and the gym or spa were closed . The road up to the hotel was awful in need of repair. So much more could be done to make this hotel so much better and easier to get around for the guests and staff as the number of steps are a nightmare. We knew there were lots of steps however in the heat it’s awful. Came down from room to get water however no one around no bar person no receptionist no one so had to wait. It’s a shame as it’s t location is fabulous with stunning views . Please do more to make your guests have a more enjoyable and more comfortable stay . Thank you 😊

Dear AngelanandTrevor, thank you for your feedback and pointing out the welcoming and friendly staff, the excellent views (which are the award of all the steps) and the huge pool. We will definitely look into all your points of improvement and examine each single one. We are truly sorry that you had to wait to order water as nobody was in the lobby area. Usually there is always somebody. We would like to take the opportunity to aplogize. Regarding your comparison of the price for a coke and a glass of local wine, please allow us to correct it as it's not true. The Coke is cheaper than the wine. Certainly our aim is to have atmosphere and to give all our guests an enjoyable and comfortable stay. You can be assured that we are constantly in the effort of improvements and the feedback of all our guests is important to us and is & will be evaluated. Best Regards from Kefalonia, Kefalonia Bay Palace managemnt & Team

Two rooms booked for 11 nights. From the moment we got there (about 11pm - and we were made very welcome) to the moment we left this was an awesome experience. The views from the room the morning after we arrived (in the dark) were spectacular - wow. The breakfast was great (something for everyone) and the service from the two young ladies was exemplary. ALL the staff went out of their way to make it a special stay (from reception staff who sorted out car hire for us to bar staff who were so accommodating and to cleaning staff who were so polite and efficient ) - and yes - the stairs made us much fitter! Thanks for a fabulous experience!

Stayed in the first villa and always have this one for 10 years, but the railing of the terras was loose, there were screws sticking out in the pool cause there was a cover off, we complianed about it cause it is healt and safety, also the lights in the pool and around the pool were broken, but they got half fixed and not the rest of it, so also not the railing and the cover. then I found a note on the reception door with a phonnumber for late arrivals, in all the years the previous managment were there untill the last guest arrived. Normally all the rooms and villas are having everyday coffee sachets, now you are only getting it on arrival and after that no more, strange for a hotel. also was difficult to get fresh towls for the pool, the years before that was never a problem. food is normally good but a small menu, but that is no problem, only this time there was only chicken on the menu, I have other experiences the years before, it was much better. also they dubbeld the foodprices, not the drinks. there were only 2 tables outside at the reception, normally there are 5 or 6 for people who want a drink before they go to their room. It is still a nice hotel, but service and maintenance is low compare with all the other years, Also to make a booking for the villa we want to have was also difficult compare with the years before, there are regular people who are not going anymore, I hope things are getting changed, then I will be back

Dear wendyvelsen, thank you for taking the time to give a feedback of your stay. On the other hand it's surely sad that you have chosen only this way although you have been asked several times for your feedback during your stay, particularly because you have been coming to this hotel for 10 years, except the last two years of covid, where the hotel was still with the old owner. An owner/management change is often difficult especially if there has been a good & strong bond with the previous one, which is surely very precious. Neverthless we do think your critism is quite harsh and we definitely don't want to analyze each point you are mentioning above, but few: Yes, things have to be done - we are very aware of it. We took over the property just shortly before the season started and did many things within this very short time. As you haven't been here for the last two years, you certainly don't know how your beloved property had changed already before we took over. We are truly sorry that you had to face some maintenance problems in the early season and we tried very hard to fix it and compensated you as well every time with little extras. Covid has changed the world generally and staffing problems are everywhere unfortunately, especially in the tourism branch with the result in the beginning of the season we didn't have a night auditor (now we have). With the delay of flights there were arrivals at 4am in the morning, nevertheless the arrival experience has not changed. That foodprices changed is quite obvious as prices have changed everywhere, but we definitely have not dubbled the prices. This is a misleading statement as well that we only offered chicken. We do think we would have deserved a chance. Kind Regards,

Cannot fault the helpful and friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. A small fault with our shower tray was dealt with immediately. Breakfast rather average, we ate lunch and evening meals in the lovely local tavernas. There are 2 issues which visitors need to consider. We had to walk up in excess of 150 steps to our room. If you have mobility issues this would be impossible. The tour operator we travelled with implied there were lifts from all floors to street level (which itself is at a top of a hill). This is not the case. There was one external lift which saved 2 flights of stairs out of a total of 11 flights! One internal lift takes you one floor within the main reception building. The second issue is there is no real beach to speak of. There is a very small shingle beach within walking distance accessible by steps down, but no shade and you will need beach shoes to get in and out of the water, as it is very rocky. There really is nowhere to lay or sit in comfort due to the rocks. Parts of the hotel need investment, and are looking tired, but our room was excellent. The pool area is good and we had no problem getting sunbeds and shade. The pool toilet is, unfortunately, 3 flights of stairs away. If you are fit and not put off by all the stairs, the views are stunning, so go for it.

Dear wendyIW8050RE Thank you pointing out our helpful & friendly staff. This is much appreciated. Yes indeed thye hotel is built on the top of the hill on different levels connected with steps & an exterior + interior lift. You laid it out correctly. This is the nature of the hotel and the award are our unbeatable views! Therefore surely a kind of mobility is definitely needed. We are aware that some parts need investments, which has been programmed for the off season, when there are no guests. Whatever can be done during the season has also been pushed forward. Definitely Kefalonia Bay Palace is in constant improvements until we reach the level we want. Nevertheless our software which are e.g. the staff, our serviceis on a daily effort to pamper our guests and give them wonderful moments. Wendy we wish you a nice summner and all the best. Absolutely loved everything about the island, the resort and the hotel. The hotel was spotless throughout , excellent friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent spacious rooms with fantastic views out over the bay. The hotel is situated in a part of the island that makes exploring very easy (a definite must). The only downfall is there is a bit of a climb to the hotel and rooms are situated over a number of levels. However, if mobility allows then it’s really worth it. Having breakfast overlooking the bay was amazing. Lovely large size swimming pool with a smaller one for children, pool was never too crowded and again extremely clean. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Just back from our 4th stay here since 2018. The best parts are the great views, friendly staff and cleanliness. Really relaxing spot just a few minutes walk from the village. It is in an elevated position but the views wouldn’t be so good otherwise. As long as you have average mobility you won’t have any issues. We will be booking for next year!
