Detailed Reviews
This is my favourite place of all to enjoy a delicious meal in a magical setting. We have visited here a number of times over the years when staying in Mirepoix and the standard is always faultless. Drinks are taken on the terrace followed by taster menu dining in the courtyard. The ambiance is relaxed with not a hint of stuffiness set in such an amazing building. Can’t fault it at all and very much hope to visit again. Thank you.

On June 1st, 2019, my wife and I (we from The Netherlands) had the honour to get married in LÁbbaye Chateau de Camon. I still can't believe the extraordinary beauty of both the castle and the surroundings we envisaged. The combination of the ancient, authentic elements - which have clearly been safeguarded during the renovation by Katie & Peter - and the comfort & quality of everything which is attached to the castle, makes a stay at Chateau Camon probably one of the best in a people's life. At least, that is how we experienced it.
During our wedding weekend we had great assistance of Peter and Katie, regarding the organization of our wedding. Everything went fluently and the communication was very professional.
We chose to fully rent the castle during the weekend of Jue 1st, so that a significant part of the wedding guests could also enjoy this outstanding experience. All the rooms are in a perfect, typical ancient French state - which we really appreciated. The castle breathes romance.
Furthermore, the food during and before the wedding was excellent; high quality French cuisine (including beatiful wines which can be ordered).
All together, our wedding at Chateau Camon was beyond our expectations. Next level...

We try to come at least once a year, as a big treat. We were not disappointed. The setting is unique. A shared bottle of champagne on the terrace overlooking the valley is so special. Well, you are only 80 once.
The set menu is carefully worked out and I am happy not having to choose, knowing how good it will be. I don't like to detail every course but we loved it all. The little piece of hake with endive was so tasty and the duck in cherry sauce was the best we've eaten anywhere. The excellent wines are mostly from the Languedoc and are modestly priced. I decline to mention the ones we drank in case they run out!

First, I hope the Trip Advisor screeners are reading this, since the last review I wrote was on Chateau Grattequina and the last section of the review (which expressed some of our concerns) was not published.
We had been wishing to stay at the L'Abbaye for some time, hearing that their chef, Tom was very talented and that the meals were delicious. Some people may not know a whole lot about the Ariege Department of France, but it is a beautiful peaceful area with many caves and a lot of Cathar history. The Chateau itself is a place filled with much religious history and authentic artifacts stemming from it's days as a Benedictine Abbaye. We were impressed by the comfortable antique-filled rooms, and the lovely sitting areas, both inside and outside the Chateau. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious with lovely garden views. Please note there is no lift to the floor above, allowing for preservation of the Chateau's original architecture. Well behaved pets are allowed. The dinners are every bit as special as the Chateau. Aperos are offered in the salon allowing guests to become acquainted and share their day's adventures. The meal itself is a multi-course affair, using fresh locally sourced ingredients, all accompanied by local Languedoc wines. We were introduced to La Minuette, a rose produced by Gayda where we later enjoyed a wonderful tasting at their winery which is not far away. . I should add that the breakfasts are delicious with lots of choices, fresh squeezed juice and locally made breads and jam. Our hosts, Katie and Peter were delightful and made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. They will share their vast knowledge of the area, history and Cathar lore with their guests, and guide them to many enjoyable day trips in the area. I hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we did! We can't wait to return!

Absolutely wonderful. Quietness, decoration respectful of spaces, the environment and the time of the place.
Nothing strikes the eye, everything is harmony. We are used in our summer walks to seek Hostel or guest house of charm and superior near the « Beautiful villages of France »
We dined very well in the cloister and the hearty breakfast served on the terrace facing the valley allowed us to be enchanted in the morning. Don’t forget to visit Camon!

We stayed at the L'Abbaye in Sept 2022 for seven nights. It's a special place. Peter and Katie have updated the 17th C abbey into a delightful hotel and grounds. They went out of their way to accommodate our group. Breakfasts on the patio and dinners in cloisters are wonderful for the settings as well as the food. And Camon is a lovely little village that few tourists go to but it's centrally located for easy access to many incredible locations. Looking forward to returning.

My husband and I spent five nights at the Chateau de Camon that were pure bliss. Everything there is so beautiful and peaceful. Camon is also in a perfect location for exploring the many Cathar castles in the area. At the end of the day, coming back to the abbey was like coming home. Katie and Peter's gracious hospitality make this place feel even more special. We were fortunate to join a small tour that Peter gave of the adjoining church - a real treasure. We simply cannot wait to go back.

It felt like such a privilege to get to stay the night in this historic abbey. This place literally has its own attached village! I had read about it years ago and finally getting to visit was so special - I was giddy excited to get to sleep in a four poster bed in my beautiful room, with a suit of knight's armor solemnly standing guard outside my door! :) It has been beautifully maintained by its owners - they have struck that perfect balance between modern comforts and authentic period decor and ambiance. Peter and Katie are so kind - thank you for your hospitality and for sharing this special place with your guests!

This was our third stay… lucky in that this was the best sunny weather we have had for all our visits. The beautiful Chateau surpassed our expectations again. Peter & Katie are the ultimate hosts to make your stay truly wonderful. The rooms are richly decorated and full of history. The food that Tom (the chef) creates is just incredible as good as the Michelin starred restaurants we have visited. It’s nice to know that Tom uses fresh locally sourced produce which seems to enhance the delicious flavours especially when eating outside in the beautiful cloisters.
If you want a relaxed decadent break then this is the place for you.
Ideal for families or a group celebrating that special occasion or the perfect place to get married.
I couldn’t recommend it more. We will be back again hopefully sooner than the last time…Thank you

Peter and Katie are the best hosts we have ever encountered. The chateau is located in an idyllic valley with views of the snow capped Pyrenees visible from the property. Every detail on the château is amazing. Would highly recommend this place especially if you like to hike or bike ride!

Sorry Connie I have no idea. I would however imagine they would do this.
L'Abbaye Chateau De Camon is unique and impossible to beat. So I will give a mention that is off on a tangent but still an interesting family run establishment. If you find yourself in Llandudno North Wales on an drizzly overcast weekend in October/November a Suite at Osborne House Hotel is a cosy find. The first floor Suites are the best, a bay window in which to sit and contemplate the sea view. A lounge area in the Suite with an open fire and comfy sofa to read the papers. A cocktail/wine bar downstairs and an intimate candle lit restaurant.
Sorry, can't help with that question we used a hire car to get around.
Only Katie can answer
There are hair dryers in the rooms. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and hot hot showers. Their wi-fi works extremely well in the living room and most of the guest rooms. Sometimes you will be in an area where the wi-fi doesn't work but it's easy to move about the Abbaye.
