We were in this hotel in January 2023, it was freezing then and the hotel was warm a cosy. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had two rooms, both were quiet and clean with a good shower and air conditioning. We didn't have breakfast but we had lunch and dinner both delicious with an excellent service and in the courtyard garden which is very pleasant. There is free parking and it is well located in the centre of the old town. Ideal for the cathedral, shops, cafes and the Monday market. Good value for money and to be recommended.

This hotel has been in family ownership for generations and Madame la Patronne, with old school propriety and charm, runs this hotel like a ship. The waitress staff are professional and are promptly and courteously attentive to requests. We took half board which included four courses – starting always with home made soup. The menu at this level was not outstanding but nevertheless tasty, nicely cooked, and there was nothing to grumble about at all. Other menus looked much more interesting. Dinner is in the pleasurable and peaceful courtyard which is overhung completely with ancient trees and is quite atmospheric. I could spend all day there reading and having a beer to escape the intense heat which we experienced. The courtyard was full every night and virtually every day. Many customers seemed to be locals, but there were more foreigners than in 2001. Room 22 on level 2 (via stairs only) overlooks the trees over the courtyard and the conversation from below finishes at about 11 p.m. There is a 5 foot comfortable somewhat firm mattress and bedside lights decent enough for reading. Bathroom on small side but no complaints. I heard nothing through the walls. Breakfast was standard French plus yogurt and cheese, with passably nice enough jams. The orange juice was delicious. Tattiness mentioned elsewhere is slightly in evidence, but you have to look for it, and anyway everything works well. Also I like old fashioned French hotels any day, and for the price Le Commerce is good value and offers a sense of containment. Some hotel parking is available, but we read that some parking controls in the centre are sadly under consideration.

Historic Mirepoix is moving up in the world and is renowned for its Monday market as well as its very lovely central square. If you look hard at the tourist office website you will find the very limited bus service details from Pamier and Toulouse. Car hire is from the local supermarche.

We only stayed for 1 night but really enjoyed it. The family shared a family room which was clean, warm, cheap and comfortable. Breakfast was a delight - the kids loved the old fashioned orange juicing machine and the coffee machine and we could have as much as we wanted - even the fussy eater was happy. We'd only ever eaten in the Hotel Commerce before and were slightly put off by some of the rather snotty reviews of the rooms on this site - it's not a designer hotel by any manner of means but if you're happy with a clean and comfortable room, enjoy typical old French hotels and friendly service, it's for you!

Lovely 12 th century old village with a beautiful small central square. Small hotel with quaint room with most amenities but making up with a fabulous garden restaurant that provided us with one of the best meals during our traveling in France.
I will gladly stay there again and again!!

Mirepoix is a stunning bastide town, beautifully preserved and well used by locals and visitors alike, who lounge around the large central square solving the world’s problems while they bask in the sun.
The place to stay in Mirepoix is Hotel Le Commerce, a traditional French hotel with a lovely creaky wooden stair, wide corridors and large rooms opening out, through shuttered windows, onto a sunny, treed courtyard where you may find yourself having lunch, dinner or breakfast in due course.
When you arrive Madame Puntis will greet you with a smile, she will take your order when you decide to eat and she will give you a cheery “bonjour” when you emerge in the morning. This charming lady has been running things here day and night for the last 50 years.
The dinner menu offers tradition dishes such as Soupe de Poisson, Canard a l’Orange and Noix de St Jacques. Its all part of the authentic experience that people travel to France for. And its inexpensive.

Yes, the room was very small and had an unusual sliding door loo but that didn't really bother us as we booked it for the location. It's true that everything is a bit dated but it didn't detract from our stay. Being able to walk straight out into the centre of Mirepoix was brilliant. The courtyard restaurant food was as good as promised but the breakfast did leave something to be desired so we only ate it once. Would we go there again? Definitely!

We used to eat regularly at Le Commerce restaurant up to 15 years ago when we had a home in the Mirepoix area so when we returned this summer chose to stay there for two nights. It was lovely. It's not a chic hotel, it's old fashioned and very slightly shabby - but in a completely acceptable way and very clean. And the restaurant is still wonderful value for money. We ate there both nights of our stay because despite several good places in Mirepoix we didn't think anywhere would be better than Le Commerce and we couldn't bear to leave the area without trying more from the menu, which hasn't changed a great deal over the years. The grilled trout is still succulent and buttery, the vegetable soup - you get a whole tureen of it - is marvellous, as is the fish soup, and the cassoulet is to die for - the real thing, as you would expect so close to Castelnaudary. We'd thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Overall it was a scuzzy place, charming as a family run place in France might be with an ok looking normal restaurant downstairs (we didnt eat there though), however rooms were like you might expect above an average British pub. The climb to our rooms at least was dingy and carpets are pretty awful to be frank (rooms included). Friendly staff.

The room had a flat screen telly, toilet separate from shower room, proper shuttered windows and a comfortable enough bed. It cost us 45euro, so whilst not complaining at the overall place, you need to consider the scuzzy aspects if your comparing to other cheap places nearby. I wouldnt stay here for more than a night ideally, on sunday morning the proximity of the cathedral means bell tolling from 7/8am...

Good tip: Dont eat their breakfast which is 7euro a head extra - and fairly pants (machine coffee etc), go out into the charming sunny square of mirepoix (30 second walk) and there is a cafe/bakery and they do a 9.8euro per head brunch which is fabulous (meat variety plate, cheese variety plate, fried egg plate, good coffee, juice, fruit plate and bread/jam/croissant) - literally ace.

This is a lovely old French hotel that evoked memories of the days when Logis were 9FF a night! It's not that, of course, but does represent good value for money. Very little has been done to bring this place into the 21st century and it's all the better for that; I liked the creaky old staircase, the windows with shutters and even the real keys that gave away how many guests were in that night. The bed was comfortable and the room facilities sufficed. Although we hadn't arranged one, we got a wake up call from the local church bells.
What was also pleasing was the restaurant, which was nearly full, the food was good value and grande mere French. Breakfast was freshly sqeezed oranges and toast and pastries with coffee.
This is not the place for those demanding the comforts and facilities of a modern chain hotel, but a delightful stay if you want to relax in a hotel of such tradition it could almost be in monochrome.

We had a pleasant four night stay in this typically French family run hotel which was recommended to us by friends who live in Mirepoix. If you want to stay in the centre of this delightful medieval town at a good price this is the place to be. Our room (No. 9) was a bit dull but had a reasonably modern bathroom with good roomy shower. Monday is market day in Mirepoix and many an English person is found dining in the hotel restaurant at lunch time. Parking is available on the forecourt or in the road nearby at no cost. Le petit dejeuner features an incredible orange squeezing machine which provides excellent fresh juice. In addition you get good coffee, croissants, jams, natural yogurt and cheese and very hard toast. Denture wearers beware!
