Annie, the host, is simply amazing - exceptionally helpful and accommodating and a qualified chef who enjoyed up fabulous meals at short notice of needed.
Mirepoix is a fantastic place to visit and you could not possibly do better than stay at Labyrinthe. Location is also perfect, just off the main square.
100% recommended!!
I left two stars just because the location is good and the owner is a friendly person, which is the only positive thing I can stand out from this place.
About the room:
• The room was dirty, full of accumulated dust.
• The sheets and towels are old and faded, in an indefinable shade, neither white, nor gray, nor purple.
• There were yellow spots of leaks on the roof.
• The bathroom is inside the room, separated from the bed only by a screen.
• The sound of the toilet in the upper room is very present.
At night, the owner cooked fish, filling the whole house, including our room, with the smell of fried fish. It was hard to sleep with the smell.
Breakfast: Breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, bread, butter, homemade jam, croissants, Neapolitans and a banana. There is enough but there were no salty options.
Breakfast was served in a dining room full of junk, with a dog bed and lots of things that needed tidying up. There was a mountain of hotel clothes in one corner, management papers in another, shopping stuff in the next and more messy stuff in different corners. Eating in the meantime is not pleasant; we just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.
Hotel: As you enter, you are greeted by two dogs running towards you barking. You don't know how to treat them and you can't move until the owner shows up and asks them to step aside. This happened every time we tried to enter or leave the hotel. We like animals, but we're not here for this. We've never seen anything similar anywhere else.
In general, the house is old and might have its charm if it were not crowded with failed attempts at craft projects that are everywhere gathering dust and, incidentally, are for sale. Some in the room with marked price.
In short, an experience I would not recommend.
