Mizingani Seafront Hotel is located on the Forodhani water front next to the Sultan Palace Museum and Ferry Terminal. Being in the heart of Stone Town, we are a stone throw away from the main tourist attractions, the Palace Museum, House of Wonders, Old Fort and the famous Forodhani food market. The Mizingani building is a very unique historical building which was constructed for newly married Royal couples for their honeymoon in 1865. Later in 1928 the house was then turned into the Custom House but, due to poor maintenance it deteriorated and finally had to be evacuated. This former Palace is now restored to its former glory with unique pieces of antique furniture, four poster beds, clocks, cupboards and so on, marvelously decorated and designed to make you feel like a Sultan. Mizingani Seafront Hotel provides the best facilities to offer with access of a lift, free wi-fi, air conditioning, 24 hour help desk, safe deposits and a perfect place to relax and tan near the swimming pool in the courtyard. Mizingani now boasts of large individually styled rooms, with ocean front or swimming pool balconies equipped with all modern facilities such as flat screen TV, cable channels, tea/coffee making facilities, hamam bathrooms tiled with Mosaic, hair dryers, high water pressure and hot water. Enjoy the evening cup of tea at our Ocean Front Restaurant while watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean and dine under the sky at night. With environment being in our thoughts and conscious, we are proud to announce that we are the only hotel in Stone Town using solar panels for "Hot Water" usage in the hotel including all of our rooms. Create your own memory for a lifetime at Mizingani Seafront Hotel by experiencing the true Zanzibari Hospitality

I regret to report that our stay at the Mizingani Seafront Hotel in February 2024 was extremely disappointing. The rooms were outdated and lacked proper amenities such as functioning air conditioning and safety deposit boxes. Even the presidential suite was not exempt from these issues. Additionally, the rooms were poorly lit, and the traditional showers left pools of water on the floor, creating a safety hazard. In one of the rooms, we even encountered cockroaches, which was unacceptable. The condition of the pool was equally disappointing, with a film covering its surface and broken, jagged tiles. Despite raising these concerns with the management, their response was unhelpful and unsympathetic. However, it's worth mentioning that the staff themselves were kind, helpful, and did their best to assist us within their limitations. Overall, our experience was so unsatisfactory that we decided to check out early (the 3 rooms and lost 1-night stay $$$). I would advise against staying at the Mizingani Seafront Hotel. Bad restaurant experience. I was not a guest at this hotel, but ate lunch at the restaurant. The Tandoori chicken and seafood curry can only be described as below average. We were served by two waiters. The first one was friendly and professional. The second one (wearing an orange tunic) was rude and arrogant. He pointed with his finger towards a glass on my table and basically instructed me to use that glass for the second drink I ordered. The only reason I ordered a second drink at this place is because it was the driest Tandoori chicken I have ever had. When we pointed out to him that he forgot to add that drink to our bill, he gave us attitude about that as well. This is the worst experience I have had in Zanzibar/Stone Town.

Really excellent stay. We were there 7 years ago and had the same room. Yes, it could use a bit of an update but it also stays within the authenticity of the hotel. The room and bathroom were very clean and maintained. The location is perfect (for us). The breakfasts were truly wonderful and delicious. Huge variety, freshness of products was exemplary (as the couple of lunches we ate there as well). But the cherry on the cake was the staff. Each and every one could not do enough for us and were so helpful and full of good humour and kindness. Thank you. We are looking forward to returning soon and well before 7 years!

Beautiful period property. Well maintained. Within walking distance of all local attractions. Great view of the waterfront. Surrounded by rest of the city, not isolated. Very nice rooms. Quite clean. But: Very dimly lit rooms. Untrained staff (but very willing and friendly) Just about adequate restaurant, but the breakfast buffet is quite good. Elevator/lift ancient: could scare the faint hearted.

A quaint boutique hotel situated in a perfect location. We had a nice room with a sea view and a large bed. Amenities in the room were adequate. Staff were courteous. Breakfast was good enough for a 4* property. However the property felt a bit dated and in need of renovation. Only one lift which looked ancient so need to take stairs.

Cheap and cheerful hotel, well located in stone town for a short city stay as you do your local excursions. Hotel is dated, musty and dark but with a renovation could become very nice. It is not suitable for those unable to walk up multiple flights of stairs. The best part was the hotel are the employees who were hospitable and welcoming.

Decent place to stay in stone town. Right opposite the seafront. A nice place for evening walk. The rooms were quite spacious and were clean and felt very comfortable. The only downside was that the lighting was pretty low. Large bathroom with all toiletries. There’s also a nice restaurant on the first floor with the view of the seafront. The staff are very courteous and very helpful. I had a very early check out as I had to catch a flight out and they were more than helpful to get my stuff sorted.

I booked a room at the Mizingani only to find out my daughters safari did not end there as first thought. I emailed them to see if I could cancel and request a refund even though I had just paid and it was non refundable. They answered quickly and as a gesture of goodwill refunded immediately. This was very much appreciated and also found they were more than helpful when asking questions prior to the booking. I hope one day to be be able to visit and would book the Mizingani for their service alone. Thankyou.

We booked the presidential suite for our anniversary. What a gorgeous room! I love the four poster bed, tall chairs fit for king n queen, antique furniture and most of all, the deck. It overlooks the busy seafront promenade and we enjoyed watching everyone enjoying themselves. We took a time lapse of the ships in the port. The way the sunset came thru the wood lattice was stunning. This hotel is so photogenic that I would highly recommend it to any Instagram lovers or influencers because around every corner, there is something beautiful. I can imagine a photo shoot here for a clothing brand or modeling. So much stained glass! The pool was perfect for my kid. He also enjoyed the bollard table. I live everything about this hotel. Staff is exceptional, especially front desk and restaurant. Great location.
