I am extremely disappointed about this place. Bugs are everywhere, the rooms are incredibly dirty, the personal is very discriminating and bad. I booked a room for 3 adults and I wanted to bring my friend from Zanzibar to stay with me. I know him for more than one year. Previously we stayed at another hotel but we had to change because there were out of availability. When he came he was discriminated and not allowed because he was an “outsider guest” I am disgusted by everything: rooms, personal, cleaning quality, everything. If I could I would take my money and my bags out and leave immediately. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

This is a budget friendly hotel in an excellent location. There isn't much choice for breakfast and they take long to refill the contents. Rooms are air conditioned but small, there isn't enough lighting. There are older men who are identical twins running the reception area. One is quite rude and told me never to address him in English while the other is friendly and welcoming. I would say the highlight of this hotel is its proximity to other Stone Town attractions and the sea view at the breakfast area. ALSO: They had no toothpicks during our entire stay.

The breakfast sealed the deal! The rooftop dining was worth it ALL! It has the most amazing view of the water! The chef was so pleasant and offered a wide variety for breakfast from his kitchen. There was always fresh pressed juices and the standard fare as well. The rooms were average but were clean. The hotel is centrally located so we were able to walk wherever we wanted within Stone Town. There was an ATM just around the corner and that was convenient as well.

Stayed for a night in Aug...rooms very small ...no TV ...no tea/coffee facilities until you have to go out at the corridor. Bathroom/WC didnt have window so was stuffy Breakfast is very limited although we were well withing the breakfast time limit, however most of the food had finished... ordered an omelette but it took eternity to be served. compared to the price they charged, we were not happy with the services rendered to us. I guess because we were local citizens as we could clearly see the difference in welcome between local citizens and the tourists.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We arrived early so didn't expect our room to be ready but we were offered breakfast and a place to shower and change while we waited. The room was nice and clean.

Perfect location. Can pretty much walk to everything. Rooms clean, check in fast and friendly staff. Gelato shop next door - really good. They also sell pizza by the slice which is great for solo traveler. I missed having a pool and turns out the Tembo House just across the street does day pass for $10.00. I would definitely stay here again.

I loved the old style of this hotel. The decoration was really nice, the staff was super friendly and helpful and the rooms comfortable. The breakfast was very nice, on the rooftop terrace with a nice view over the sea. The location is great, just few steps from the sea and the shopping streets. Loved it. Highly recommended. ++++

Small hotel very well located. This hotel is less expensive than its famous chain hotel neighbours and benefits from being very close to the center of Stone Town. It is also around the corner from where Freddie Mercury lived and has great views from the roof top terrace where breakfast is served. Rooms come with a number of bed configurations including triples as well as doubles. It is a hotel with an older style but we found it clean, comfortable and convenient. It you are noise sensitive then best to ask for a rear room as the front rooms are on quite a busy road (but the front rooms do have the view!).

Did not planned to stay there, but a problem with another hotel put us there for a night. They welcomed us nicely and got us a roof for a night. The hotel is fine, good value for money, big room, big bathroom, very nice rooftop for the breakfast.
