For me the place, the decor, the setting, the service, the food, the activities, all the details that are thought about, the warmth that we experienced again, especially as travelling with out little one - it was perfect from A - Z. Great, great job guys!

We visited Three Tree Hill for a two night stay and Spioenkop tour. Two nights was just not enough to spend in this wonderful lodge with such a fantastically engaging and outstanding team to look after us. From meeting Cheryl, the wonderful Ntubeke and our great tour guide Pierre the whole experience was everything we could have hoped for and more. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

I wanted to see Spieonkop so this lodge was the perfect place to stay. Though there was only one other couple staying when we checked in, we soon got to know each other very well and the four of us enjoyed eating together at one table. Our room was perfect as were all the people working there. A bar and chairs set out in a field so that we could watch the sun set. Horses to ride and bikes to borrow. Our non-meat eating presented no problems and breakfast outside in the sunshine was terrific. Pierre, our guide for our Spieonkop tour was excellent even to the extent of making sure that there were a couple of cold beers for me in the van. We were so sad when it came time for us to leave. My car was brought to reception for me by Pierre and then we had to leave

What a fabulous four-day stay at Three Tree Hill Lodge. The charmingly presented villas, exquisite sitting room, stunning library and cellar all provided a peaceful haven set against the most extraordinary landscape. The meals and afternoon tea were delicious, the wine and gin lists were mind-blowing and the service was impeccable. The tours of the Battle of Spioenkop with Pierre and Battle of Colenso with Simon were fun, informative and entertaining. A tour of the village and a visit to the preschool and primary school with Cheryl were absolute eye-openers. We learned, loved and appreciated every minute of it.

We visited Three Tree for a family weekend to celebrate my husband's 59th birthday. We were delighted by the beautiful accommodation, incredible service, stunning scenery and thoughtful attention to detail. 2 nights wasn't enough time to do justice to all the wonderful things. We loved the horse ride, the tranquil swimming pool, the walking trail, mountain biking and the library. Oh to have a week to spend on a reading holilday! Don't even get me started on the wine cellar. Sundowners overlooking Spionkop Dam on our arrival was a real highlight. We can't wait to go back!

We spent two nights here and incorporated the battlefield tour of Spionkop which we found extremely informative and well executed, we even had a packed lunch provided. The rooms are rustic but spotless with a very comfortable bed and a fantastic view. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding and all staff members were accommodating and friendly.

Honestly this place is an absolutely ‘must visit’. We only stayed for 2 nights but would have loved more. Arrival. Really easy to find, off the main road for some distance but we had a normal albeit a high off the ground hire car and had no issues. The people at the lodge are all very special, probably some of the nicest and best we have ever had the pleasure to meet. Room. Our cabin was wonderful, a huge bed, lovely comfy bedding and that amazing view. No noise apart from the birds and animals. Food. Not sure what to say apart from wow. We are both vegetarians and the food was absolutely incredible. The presentation and quality would put many a restaurant to shame. Activities. We decided to do some of the marked trails, easy to follow. Take advice and borrow wellingtons if it has been raining as it gets muddy underfoot. We were joined by 2 of the dogs which was great fun. This is really a special place to stay. If you like the outdoors and something different but very comfortable and memorable then it is definitely a place to go.…

My family and I spent a wonderful week at the Three Tree Hill Lodge this September! Having known South Africa mainly for its Safaris, we didn’t know what to expect in the Northern Drakensberg, but were more than pleased with the experience offered to us. We were welcomed into a family of both humans and animals from the first day on. The entire staff was more than friendly and helpful, wanting to show us what their piece of the world has to offer. We explored the grounds by foot, bike and even horseback, so there was something to enjoy for everyone. Especially the walking safari of the game reserve was breathtaking, keeping even us late-risers wide awake. The food was also simply delicious and thoughtfully planned and prepared. A special thanks to Cheryl, Simon and their team for creating such a lovely environment. You made our trip very memorable!…

We visited Three Tree Hill at the beginning of our South Africa holiday and we could not have found a better place to start our trip. The staff are exceptional, and so friendly. Our room was extremely comfortable and cosy on the cool evenings (with heated blankets which were perfect). The food was delicious and the wine was cellar a treat to explore. Don’t miss the morning safari walk and the tour of the Spion Kop battlefield. Both are unforgettable.

Three Tree Hill was a wonderful, peaceful getaway. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Rooms are beautiful. Nature walk was incredible, and really interesting. Food was delicious. Drinks in the cosy lounge with its warm fireplace, was a lovely way to spend the evening, before dinner. The wine cellar is another lovely addition to the lodge. Highly recommend this lodge.
