I know I only paid $80 for our non-smoking room, but I used to housekeep 20 years ago and never would have gotten away with my rooms looking like this. I did check reviews, but many times, our experience didn't match what was described in reviews on this site for those hotels/motels. Our experience was almost always better than what was reviewed. I mean the building itself is nice with a nice amount of parking. You walk in and it's a nice entrance inside. Beautiful decor and curved stairwells grace each side of the front desk. But then you go up to the front desk, and the older lady working was not friendly at all. Then we get up to our room. The room wasn't bad enough to request a refund because the bed was clean and that's really all we needed, and honestly we were too tired to drive around hunting through other hotel's rooms; and no bother requesting another room, because others would most likely be the same condition if they use the same maids for the whole motel. There was hair in the bathtub and toilet, the vent in bathroom was caked in dust, the washcloth rack in tub was so super rusty it was crazy to me they couldn't replace it, a bit of black mold in the tub's caulking, staining or dirt on the tub, the piping was gross, the tile was dirty, the fridge lining was dirty, the inside of the fridge was dirty with some kind of liquid, the ice bucket was greasy and had stuff in it (but I rinsed that out and cleaned it myself), and the windows and mirrors were dirty. I walk out the side door as I had moved my car closer to our room, and the whole stairwell and entry area hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. So much dirt and trash on the tile and along the carpeting. Then the next morning, we realize the sheet had old blood stains on it (so they were light colored). I've never in my life had to worry about that because we've never gotten sheets like that. Also, the lamp on the desk had a water bottle in it on the top of the spokes. We didn't even notice it when the light was on because it was empty. This is not normal things you expect to find in a motel or hotel. And I don't want to get blamed for things that were damaged before our arrival, such as the lampshade by the bed and damage to the ceiling. Everything worked in the room, and bed was comfy though. It had an outdoor I ground pool, gym, and breakfast area which looked all nice but were basically closed due to Covid. I usually check the normal things, but I guess from now on, I have to literally check every single square inch of every single thing. It's ridiculous that a motel this well-known would be this dirty. I mean it's nothing that would keep you from sleeping well, because most of it is cosmetics, but bloody sheets should never ever be recycled because I mean female monthly issues, and just c'mon, that's gross. Most of this was correctable if they took their time to thoroughly clean. But dust and mold CAN be as hazardous to your health as smoking, especially with someone with asthma. People kept being noisy outside our room window, so my husband didn't get much sleep. Like I said, we were just in a rush to get a room and our eyes were super heavy from a long day of walking in the heat with bad knees, so we kind of just had to take it. But whoever runs the housekeeping should be ashamed of themselves. I've stayed in many hotels for the same price range and almost never experienced this. The front desk clerk the next morning was super nice and understandable, and I let him know I understand it's not on him, as he's a desk clerk. But Covid had nothing to do with a room and main entryway being in those conditions. My supervisors at my old housekeeping jobs would make us clean and reclean until we got it right (I worked for a Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Super 8, and 2 local motels in and around my hometown in Ohio in my teens). Many times we were short-staffed too. And this isn't some fleabag motel, so I'd expect better. I would only recommend if you're ok with a room like this. If we hadn't been so tired, we would've moved on. …
When I stayed there and I'm a stockholder, I was not too happy I waited in the lobby for 35 minutes for a desk agent to check me in and when he shows up, the first thing that come out of his mouth was get me your ID and Card to check-in, not HI WELCOME TO MOTEL 6, but give me, the room was dirty and when you walk on the floor in your sock it shows and I notice housekeeping using dirty water with no solution on the bathroom and room floor and talking on their cellular phones or eating and playing games on their phone. Staff is not friendly and no one there has been trained in HOSPITALITY and this place gives Motel 6 Corporate Name a BAD NAME.
I would give it 2.5 stars and rate fair. I knew going in what we were probably getting. We just needed a place to sleep for an early flight. Our room was clean, and that is all that mattered. People were loud in the hall and outside the window, but no fault of the hotel. The staff were pleasant and quick with our rides to and from the airport.
I was very disappointed because they didn't have free breakfast as per their website. Plus the place wasn't first class. My recommendation is to call before you book to ask about the breakfast. I only went because of the free breakfast and low price.
Rodeway is hard to find as someone stole the floodlights on the sign. The nice thing about the place is it’s a stay and fly and is close to the airport. When I returned from the airport it took a long time for them to answer my call and I was thinking of getting an Uber. The young man who picked me up said he was the only one on duty and the janitor was manning thee desk.
