The staff here was wonderful! I booked the hotel for my girlfriend and I ordered flowers for the day she would arrive. I called the hotel and Bella offered to help with coordinate the receipt and was very meticulous about when the flowers would arrive and told me options in case she would not be around. Unfortunately the florist messed up and didn't deliver. Lots of back and forth with the florist and me checking in with the hotel staff. Everyone at the hotel was very patient throughout. I had to get the florist to redeliver; the florist never confirmed redelivery but the front desk did! And it was even delivered to the room. This level of service is amazing. Again, a big thanks to the staff at Wingate!
This is my 15th trip to NYC and I have had my fair share of sad budget hotels in Queens... this one doesn't disapoint. I stayed at Wingate for 5 days. Jose & Amy went out of their way to get us our room ahead of check-in. Friendly staff who don't appear to be blasé and texting their friends. They are always very supportive and attentive. Super clean rooms, nice views, small fridge, contemporary decor... the only caveat is the sketchy neighborhood. The ex-Howard Johnson in front is now converted into a homeless complex which seems to have a bunch of drug dealers luring and shouting until 2-3 in the morning. I can totally understand this a major show stopper for families or single ladies... walking back to the hotel at night can be frightening just because of that building in front of the hotel.…
Stayed here for 5 days and can not say 1 negative thing about hotel. Staff friendly, clean rooms, newly built. Breakfast was always replenished. It's just the area. Don't walk around at night. Hotel is beside a New York Housing project. It's a 2 block walk to the subway stop.
The staff was great! We're disappointed that there's no pool or spa. Check-in was easy, which is good. There's a free breakfast 😋 We really appreciate the staff. 2 elevators, so there wasn't a long wait.
Great value; breakfast enough to start the day; close to transportation; confortable beds. Excellent service (Raffat was very helpful); the location is not very nice but the hotel is close to public transportation and few minutes away from Manhattan.
This hotel has a very nice balance of affordability, comfort, access to public transportation, food options and centrally-located to get anywhere in New York City. Their staff is super friendly, and quite personable too! I enjoy interacting with them!
Great new hotel less than 8 minute walk and subway ride from Manhattan. Jose at the front desk was super friendly and efficient in checking me in. Really made you feel welcome. Room is very very clean and everything is new. Beats stay (and in my case closer to work) than many overpriced Manhattan hotels. A home away from Home.
We have stayed in Long Island city many times, the ease of the metro being one block away makes it so convenient for site seeing. A little further walk and you can access all the major metro lines to manhattan, JFK one metro ride and transfer +$8.00 air train. If you have the chance pay the extra for a bridge view you will not be disappointed or with any aspect of this hotel, this was our first visit to this hotel, it will be our hotel of choice from now on when in NY.
Jose provided excellent service on the front desk! Thanks for the great room and service, Jose! The hotel was clean and modern. Ultimately very satisfied with my stay and looking forward to coming again!
Bella, Manny and the night staff were incredibly kind, informed & accommodating. We felt safe & cared for, and after a long day in the city, like we were at our home away from home. (June 22-27). 10/10
