Had the privilege to enjoy a few days at the resort to recharge. Staff is warm and very attentive to guest needs. Didn't make it into the wave pool, however, I did relax in the main pool several times. Loved being able to have masseuses come to our room for well deserved treatments! Looking forward to the next visit!

The Owner-Manager is from the Company who have leased the whole peninsular from SBMA; from the landfill beach back down to Pier One. Hotels around like The Lighthouse lease the land from them I believe. Also I think Moonbay may have some ownership in some of them. So I guess this is the ‘mother-ship’ resort.

Toward the u-turn roundabout complete with water fountains and rock formations, they are building a new wing along this newly developed high-class street that I guess the resort paid to construct. These rooms will have a view of the bay; at least until new hotels development on the vacant land between the beach and the hotel. They provide lovely outdoor sitting areas with ‘nippa-hut’ type roofs along the street and in different parts of their hotel precinct.

The pool is large, sparkling clean and terrific.. catering for all from kids shallows to descending depths complete with waterfall and slide. There is always a lifeguard on duty and so the guests remain orderly. However like everywhere else these days these kids are allowed to scream as loudly and for as long as they like. :-( It is really annoying… I was always reminded to ‘play quietly’ and be respectful of the adults that would like to relax. Not here.

The Rooms are nicely set apart in blocks around the pool. Nice linen, clean and hygienic.
The menu is decent including healthy choices. The kitchen is quick and the service staff are friendly. Only, like almost everywhere in Philippines, (almost traditionally) they do not quickly remove the used plates and glasses as they continue to attract flies.

An in-house pet is a magnificent Golden Retriever named Murphy who sits tied up out the back of the pool area. He is massive like a lion and gentle like a kitten, so he is popular with guests for photos and pats. He must be 65+ kilos like a brown bear. I love him and always request he comes sits with us if he is not busy. Check out my photos of him because he must be seen to be believed.
I hope this information is helpful for you.. if so let me know by clicking the button, thanks!

I dont understand the good reviews. Maybe it depends on a not so high standard. Of youre that, then go ahead. But if your not, continue reading.

First. This hotel does not have it's own website so cancellation will be a hell. The phone numbers jn the website do not work. Wtf? The hotel concierge will be of no help. They will only say, it's a third party reservation and they cant do anything about it. (Maybe if the hotel has it's own booking website, them maybe you can help their customers!) So if you want to be hassled just to cancel, if thats youre thing then this hotel is for you. Goodluck with that.

Second. The cheap rate is a bait because in reality, they will have additional P2k charge. So Be careful when booking online because the real rate is at the bottom of the webpage way after the 'continue with reservation' button! So chances are, you will clikc the 'continue with reservation button' thinking that youre just paying the bait cheap price because before that button, no other rates are mentioned! I fell victim and it's my fault. Im not used to cheap tricks like this specially when Marriott never pulled one on me. Great. Had i known i will pay much more then i should have booked in a much much better hotel. Oh wait. I cant cancel because cancellation is just gonna be a hassle.

Third. The room is dated and needs alot of TLC if not a total reno. They should include the disclaimer-objects in the picture appear much better than they are in real life) , There are a lot of better hotels for better prices and services so please, scout for other hotels in subic.

For the price i paid. It didnt even include a breakfast buffet but what the heck, i dont even want to be seen in this hotel.

Stayed here with my family June 9-12 at rooms A1 and A2.
ROOMS: spacious but old. sofa were filthy and worn out, showe head came off we even had to call maintenance to repair it. water coming out of the shower head was not even and temperature was not consistent. bath area was on a bathtub which was very inconvenient and crampy.
SERVICE: we asked for an extra blanket to cover the sofa and they charged us for it, my son who was 4yrs old was also charged for buffet kid fee which is ridiculous because he only ate half cup of rice and tinnie bit of scrambled egg. Probably tje only hotel weve been to who charges buffet kid for a 4yr old.
I find their policy very calculating which makes the experience very unpleasant.

With the good reviews that I read here in tripadvisor, I "googled" the moonbay marina website with the intent to make a reservation online. To cut the long story short, I booked a room using my credit card and received a booking confirmation via email. To my horror, my friend, whose wedding is the reason why I will go to subic, told me that she verified with moonbay marina and that it doesn't have a booking under my name. Immediately, I called Moonbay Marina to confirm this and lo and behold, my friend was right. Aside from the shock of being a victim of a fraudulent website, I am greaty annoyed and beyond grief that the staff that answered my phone call was without any concern at all. She was so inconsiderate and instead of answering my queries, she just gave me a one-liner.."we don't have online reservation." She did not even bother to ask the details of the fake website, which I think should have alerted them. The details of the fake website is accurate, from the rooms, facilities to the contact numbers. So, for this inconsiderate staff, it boils down to this, if you are not a prospective or existing client, she would not bother to act "customer or client friendly" or even have the decency to extend some assistance or compassion. Customer service at its worst!

This was our first out of town experience with my then eight-month old son and we had a really great time.

We did not expect to be checked-in early because we figured we can just go around Subic first while killing some time, but to our delight, the receptionist was the one who offered to check us in early. That was to signal the start of a very pleasant experience with this establishment.

Getting to our villa was the next wonderful surprise. The place was immaculate. It is well-maintained. The villa has a cozy living room, a small dining area, a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, coffee making machine and a bedroom with a 42” LCD TV. The bathroom has a private toilet and shower and a bathtub. The sheets were crisp and clean. The toiletries were complete. The design of the villa is also warm and inviting. Our friends stayed at a La Luna villa while we were at El Sol. Each villa evoked a different vibe and were both calming and relaxing. The two-storey structure is located just in front of the swimming pool so it’s very convenient to go back and forth, in case you need to get something. There is also ample parking outside the resort. If you need to stay connected, they offer free wi-fi too.

They have an al-fresco restaurant that is reasonably priced and the food is above-average. We ordered the chicken parmigiana and it was one of the best I have ever tasted. The service however, was a little slow. We also decided to avail of their eat-all-you can Monggolian feast for dinner and it was also a treat. If you want to dine out, the place is also accessible to other restaurants such as Dencio’s, etc.

For those with kids, there is a playground with a see-saw & swing so the little ones have an alternative play area apart from the pool.

While the availability of a videoke near the restaurant can be a plus for those who want to sing, to some, the late night singing can be a snooze-stopper. It’s a good thing our room was located far from where the videoke machine was, otherwise, it would have ruined our entire vacation.

The pool area is well maintained with beautiful lounge chairs and cabanas. There is a splash pool which is good for toddlers. I had my son stay here first before taking him to the kiddie pool which was about waist deep only. For the adults, there is a 5 foot pool and a Jacuzzi.

Over-all, I totally enjoyed our stay at Moonbay Marina Villas. If my son could talk, I’m sure he would have said the same thing.

We booked a Villa for an overnight stay. 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 Yayas. It just so happens 2 of our kids cousins came along the last minute. Upon check in we requested extra beds to accommodate the extra kids but the receptionist and hotel manager kept on saying that their villa can only sleep 4 people. I kept saying that we understand that's why we are willing to pay for extra persons and extra beds. They said if we sleep more than 4 people we'll get charged an extra room. So since it was late in the afternoon I booked our room and told them we'll book another room at the hotel across the street called vista marina for the extra kids. Even though I'm more comfortable with all of us in one room.

Upon check out the next day, we received a call that we had to be out of the hotel 12nn sharp and when I came to the front desk they charged me an extra room claiming their surveillance people were watching us and saw there were 8 of us in the room. Even took pictures of our kids and their cousins swimming the next morning charging us fees for swimming pool use over 4 people.

I told the ladies at the front desk I booked a room across, our nannies and 2 kids stayed at the hotel across. The reception told me "sir we called the hotels across Moonbay marina and none of them had you checking in" I told them why do we look like criminals trying to sneak in a few kids in your hotel? I told them to check my wife's name cause she used her credit card to book the room. During check out there was even a guy waiting for us outside to check our rooms I guess to make sure nothing was stolen or damaged. During our stay we felt like we were discriminated and our privacy violated because the hotel management were too afraid to get cheated with with extra kids staying overnight.

Bottom line: these people are trying to squeeze a buck any which way they can. Even invading the privacy of little kids below 7 years old. They have 0 flexibility and 0 remorse. They'd rather add creepy surveillance guys rather than just let their guests be. I wouldn't stay in this hotel and I suggest no one does. By the way, they are the only hotel during my 38 years of traveling that told me visiting hours are up to 10pm only. I don't know if I checked in a hotel or a mental institute?

The rooms aren't even that nice. Wifi sucks and rooms are full of mosquitoes.

Really relaxing. It's near the bay, different restaurants, and there are even pets in the hotel. Each room has its own internet connection so you don't have to worry but sometimes the Wi-Fi doesn't work however there is still a strong internet connection in the restaurant of the hotel. Want to have internet connection without disruptions, just try if they agree your request of staying near the restaurant of the hotel. If you have kids, no problem, there is a mini small playground. It even has a friendly staff. The room is cozy so no problem with that. The only thing you have to worry about is the parking, a lot of people park nearby because everything you can find is there so find a time where people won't stay there yet. I recommend this hotel to the tourists.

Only thing I liked about this hotel is that it was walking distance to the beach. However, it's not a beach that you are allowed to swim at :(

Things that let us down, that looked different from what they advertised:

1) First and foremost the room did not look like what was advertised on their booking.com listing. Plain all white room, looked like a hospital room from the 1980's. Hospital rooms today look much nicer than this place. NO art on the walls, no contrasting color of curtains.
2) No Table Lamps on the night stands! This is OUTRAGEOUS. Every hotel room should have bedside lighting. How do I know this? Because I have designed hotels for my career for the past 10 years, and it is a requirement in even the lowest budget hotel. The only lighting this room offered is the overhead recessed can lights. NOTE: I stayed in a classic standard room...however... this should be a requirement of ALL ROOMS. And if it isn't, they should note in their listing for this hotel that their standard rooms are designed to resemble jail cells!
3) No full length or long dressing mirror in the room, only a small mirror placed over the tiny desk in the corner. Almost every hotel room I've stayed in (even hostels), have a long mirror located near the closet, or on the bathroom door for dressing purposes.
4) No luggage rack was available in the closet or in the room. This should be a standard. Even a folding luggage rack that can be purchased inexpensively from the hotel registrar's website (look it up) No extra pillows provided in the wardrobe.
5) It should be explained in the listing that even though this property is located right across from beach-- the beach is not one you can lay out at or swim at.
6) Our patio furniture consisted of a glass-top table and two cheap PLASTIC stacking chairs. Other balconies on the property that faced the street where pedestrians could walk by, had metal, more attractive chairs. There should be some consistency in your property design, and a guest room standard for furnishings to avoid reviews like this.
