Located in the heart of Franschhoek village, Leeu House provides a private oasis of comfort and luxury, set in serene and secluded gardens, from which to explore the many attractions of the village and the surrounding valley. Guests can also relax at the 15-metre heated swimming pool.
Stayed here with some friends for 3 nights during our trip to Franschhoek. Lovely comfortable rooms and elegant manicured gardens. Staff excellent (especially Joy on reception) very helpful and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Leeu House. I would recommend it anyone looking for a higher-end lodge in the area. The staff were friendly and breakfast was a welcome slow (as it should) start to the day. I think just avoid the rooms over the top of the pub.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. It's a beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and a wonderful pool and garden area. It only has a small number of rooms, and the staff are extremely welcoming, and couldn't do enough for us. On our second night we ate at the hotel and couldn't believe the low price of £20 for two people (excluding wine). It was like dining at your own private villa. It's on the main street in Franschhoek, so everything is close by. The wine tram kiosk is only a few minutes walk away. The quality of the shops, bars and restaurants are exceptional. We wish we had stayed longer than just two nights.

From the moment we arrived for our 2-night stay on our road trip around South Africa, nothing was too much trouble. We were greeted warmly by Marius, who parked our car and brought in our luggage. Our room (number 2) was spacious, spotlessly clean and had everything we could ask for. Complimentary small bottles of red and chilled white wine were left in the room. The garden and pool area is gorgeous. Breakfast was a delectable affair with fruit (perfectly ripe - one of my bug bears is unripe melon), various continental options and a menu with hot options - we tried the avocado (and hummus & roast tomato) rye toast, the eggs Benedict with trout and the French toast pancakes with berries, maple syrup and lemon infused cream - all yummy. A short stroll takes you to the restaurants along Main Street. We were also treated to a complementary wine tasting at the neighbouring sister hotel, Le Quartier Francais. Wonderful. It was a treat to stay here from start to finish. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the 2 gentlemen serving breakfast were smilingly eager to please, and special mention for Marius to greeted us when we arrived back after a day visiting the wine Estates and waved us off with bottled water for the next leg of our trip. Very highly recommended. Oh, and the fish & chips from the snack menu are great, too !…

Great hotel and great service from everybody from the guys opening the port for you, the reception to the pool guy. The hotel has only 12 rooms and a very beautyful garden. Leeu House has an excellent location on the main street of Franschhoek with a waking distance to all restaurants. The only negative thing is that the pool i not heated and the water was quite cold.

On the positive side, the hotel impresses with meticulous maintenance, quirky art, and exceptional gardens and pool areas. The service is strong, with attentive staff anticipating our needs, offering surprises like personalized cocktails, and proactively handling dinner reservations. However, our experience was marred by Room #6, located between the pool restroom and breakfast/outdoor bar space. Lacking unshaded windows and with tub windows bordering a public area, the room compromised privacy. Despite complaints, the issue persisted, leading to an offer to move us to another property. Opting to keep our short stay uninterrupted, we stayed put. In summary, Leeu House is a great hotel, but Room #6 detracts from the experience. Potential guests should request or condition their booking to avoid this room. Upgrading to a higher room category is advisable. Despite the setback, I hope to return in the future.…

My wife and I stayed at the Leeu House for five nights from the 13th December. It is one of the loveliest boutique hotels we have ever stayed in. The landscaped gardens and pool area are idyllic and our room was extremely well equipped and comfortable with its own little terrace. All the staff were friendly, charming and so helpful. For example we only had one armchair in the room so I asked if it would be at all possible to have another, not expecting anything to happen. Within five minutes a young man appeared carrying a matching chair which he positioned for us. It is perhaps invidious to pick out one staff member for special mention but I have to highlight Marius. Whether it was providing room service, setting up all the poolside layouts, tables and towels each morning ( and clearing everything away in the evening ) or driving out our hire car for us, he was everywhere, always with a smile. He is such a nice and very efficient man: a real star. As I say, all the staff were superb but with an informal relaxed approach. No stuffiness at Leeu House. If you have read this you will know that we have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending it. Rod…

Truly first class amazing hotel. From the moment you step through the picturesque entrance you are treated by the most wonderful, happy and attentive staff. Food - we had breakfast every day and it was beautiful. The choice covered all diets Rooms - the room was spotlessly clean and spacious and kept on top of by the cleaning staff. They even did a turndown service which was a nice touch. The bed and duvet were mega comfortable and a good sleep was guaranteed. Surroundings - The pool was so peaceful with great quality sun loungers, and nice towels and sun creams were left in baskets in the table. Staff - EVERYONE was so happy, smiley and nicely attentive without being over the top. They couldn't do enough for us from start to finish. They were an absolute credit to the hotel manager and should be appreciated. It was our first time in Franschhoek and we would definitely, and when we do then Leeu House will be our hotel of choice again.…

Of the 7 places we stayed in while visiting SA, Leeu House was our favorite. We stepped into the lobby and they seated us in front of the fire with a glass of champagne. They took our keys and retrieved our bags and placed them in our room. Every detail mattered to the staff and we felt so cared for. Their turndown service was the best, and the underfloor heating in the bathroom is so perfect for cold rainy days. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed. The hotel itself is situated in a very walkable area in Franschhoek and we felt safe walking to grab a drink. When we had plans for dinner on the estate they provided a private driver for a reasonable amount that was billed directly to our room. We enjoyed Epice, and La Petit Colombe, (both part of the property) both were beautiful dinners. …
