Newark was the practical but unlikely meeting place for a friend and I before we set out to Europe at the end of May. We had a an overnight at the Holiday Inn Express in Elizabeth/ Newark International Airport and I knew of a great place to grab a bite before our flight the next evening: Suspenders located on Magie Rd where Elizabeth and Union meet. This great little place has excellent food and drink, and is a comfortable and welcoming stop. So refreshing to eat at a locally owned restaurant.

Again I am staying at my “GO TO” place, Marriott at Liberty International Airport! THANK YOU TARIAN!! TARIAN greeted me when I arrived today. She made me feel so special, so at home! Tarian attended to my every need making me feel like I was a special person who matters to her and to Marriott. She gave me specific details about taking the shuttle to and from the airport! In addition she made 100% sure that I was checked in and happily settled into my room! I love it here thanks to Tarian and the excellent staff! This is like home. If I didn’t have to fly out tomorrow I would stick around a couple of extra days just to enjoy this friendly and down to earth atmosphere! Thank you Tarian and Marriott for another Park and Fly stay well done!

Old hotel but close to EWR, Free shuttle runs every 15min from terminal not only from P4. Reliable. No fridge in the room. I never stay at hotel with no fridge… Shower is nice. But I probably won’t come back…

I had a 2 week stay at this Marriott at Newark Airport both in May and June. Everyone I encountered were professional and nice .. I was greeted and thanked for being a Platinum member. I wasn't offered nor upgraded for either week I spent here but it wasn't a big deal. Rooms are decent in size but the bathrooms are on the small side. Windows must be soundproof because in the 2 weeks during my stay I didn't hear the planes landing nor taking off. Location is literally a 5 minute walk thru the parking garage in Terminal C .. once you go thru the garage the hotel is right in front.; you then cross 2 lightly trafficked streets you are at the hotel. A shuttle bus does come around but it's quicker walking if you don't have heavy luggage. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but housekeeping was inconsistent ... 2 days I returned at 4 pm and the room wasn't serviced. And 2 other days I returned and they left the garbage behind and they didn't replace the bottled water nor the coffee pods. I had a great stay otherwise but the room service issue needs to be addressed. Grubhub, Dominoes, and Instacart deliver to the hotel. Otherwise your other food options are the hotel restaurant ..

Arrived on Sunday 5 June. Had the mobile key show up on the Bonvoy app with my room as 1014. So I went directly to the room and the mobile ap key didn’t work. Called front desk (navigated the automated system for a minute or two, then spoke to the clerk. ) They said they would send some up. No one came. Then elevator didn’t work as I tried to go down to reception. Called front desk again -“we will send someone up no one came —-then I saw a chambermaid. I had her speak to the reception clerk. The reception clerk had her verify my ID -good move.. then the reception clerk said —oh no he is in 1008. Chamber maid said no can’t be as there is someone in there now. So I was sent back downstairs to the reception and met a young lady who wasn’t interested in hearing what happened. She said “you Need to get a message from us to be able to check into your room with mobile key” in a very condescending way. She just needs some training -never looked me in the eye just her computer. Ok I said I understand now but after 1450 nights at Marriott hotels I am still learning. On a brighter note I are at the bar. The service was excellent as was the food

Ended up booking a last-minute room after getting stranded by United. Ordered a corner room with a king size bed, on a high floor. Check-in was extremely busy on arrival, but the front desk handled the crowd efficiently. The room itself was nice: a decent size, with a comfy bed and decent shower. Coffee machine was provided. External noise damping was very good, with little indication of the hotel’s proximity to EWR. (Just a shame about the guest who decided to wake up the whole corridor by yelling into his phone after checking out of his room at 5.30am.) The only downsides to the room were that the blackout curtains underperformed (due to a lack of cornices), and the room also heated up quickly, overpowering the AC. All told though, a better-than-average hotel (as it should be at the price), and a very convenient location.

The hotel is clean, has a nice breakfast, and our room was quiet, so worked great for a stay during an overnight layover to get some sleep. The shuttle was easy when returning to the terminal, but it took a long time to pick up when we arrived.

While the hotel was very nice I believe they are guilty of price gouging. A friend and I had a room reserved on 5/23 for a layover in Newark for our return flight from Italy. My friend booked the room using her government discount but was not able to make the flight back from Italy due to testing positive for Covid. I completely understand that they could not give me the government discount since my friend was not there to show credentials but the rate they charged me was almost triple, government rate was $169 they charged me $498. I had been on a flight for 9 hours, had spent 2.5 hours trying to get out of the airport and to the hotel and it was almost midnight when I was checking in so I did not feel like I had much of a choice. If I had reserved the room in advance with no government discount the rate would have been closer to $350 but because the hotel was full they treated me as if I walked in off the street to get a room. Shame on them for taking advantage of an already bad situation! Marriott will never again get my business.

Nice short stay. Restaurant not cheap. 4 martinis and 2 soups and a flatbread wet 115 dollars. However the bartender/server was excellent. Such a nice guy. Easy walk to terminal even though you were supposed to take the shuttle. We followed flight crews the last time we stayed here.

The hotel looks nice from the outside, but it is overpriced and filthy. You have to pay for Wifi AND an exorbitant parking fee. You would think for the price we would have gotten a clean room, but no. When we got to our room, there were towels all over the floor, used glasses in the bathroom sink, and the beds were unmade. Clearly it is hotel policy to put guests in room before cleaning them. We managed to get a new room that HAD been cleaned, but by then it was 11:30 PM. Staff was clearly indifferent-- I suppose once you have your money, you don't have to do a silly thing like provide the service your guests paid for.
