This is a beautifully restored hotel in the best part of downtown Keene. It has the feel of an upscale boutique hotel. The lobby, hallways and our room were very well appointed, extremely clean and had a feel of luxury. We were in Room 205 which is a very large room with a king bed, with 4 large windows overlooking Main Street. Just a totally spectacular room! Well, at least until we sat on the bed -- and then laid down on the bed. The bed linens were very nice and the pillows were great (and they took note that I'm allergic to feather and had foam pillows!). But the bed was hard as a rock!! It seriously felt like a slab of concrete with a very thin layer of cloth on top of it. The bed was so bad that we barely slept and woke up sore! It's too bad, the price was very good, the hotel is probably the nicest in Keene and the location can't be beat. But, the main reason for staying in a hotel is the bed and it was horrible! With that said, the parking was not ideal and entering through the back of the hotel from the parking garage was a little creepy at night. Given the other attributes of the hotel, I could easily forgive that if the bed wasn't so dang awful.…
This hotel is in a really ideal location for exploring the quaint city of Kenne and the surrounding areas’ covered bridges! All the staff I interacted with were welcoming, helpful and friendly. They’re doing well with the Covid safety measures and even give you a sit-down hot breakfast! I stayed in the 2-queen bed suite. The room was huge and spotlessly clean. Beds and pillows were so comfortable! It had a fridge, microwave and Keurig as well. They don’t stock the coffee stuff in the room - instead you have to request it on check in and they give you a prepackaged set up (apparently a Covid thing- only seen this at this hotel so kinda weird lol). The hot breakfast was such a welcome change from all the other hotels that have shut down this benefit that used to be so ubiquitous! The tables are spread out for social distancing and they provide wipes at each table. They offered omlette (cheese or plain) and sausage (turkey or regular), as well as milk, juices, various granola bars, yogurt etc. It was the standard hotel breakfast of the past lol! I’m giving 4 stars for the following: the suite is in a basement with 2 small windows - I think they should tell you that before booking (maybe in the room description?) - it was damp and the hallways absolutely wreaked of marijuana smoke the entire time...probably hard to get rid off in a basement. Also the parking - so there are a couple of 15-minute loading only spaces out front so you can at least check in and unload all your bags etc - but after that you have to take the parking pass (put on your dash) and park in the parking garage top level behind the hotel. To find it, you drive around the block to get behind the hotel. And it only has stairs so unload your bags first bc it’s kinda far - so the parking is very inconvenient. But it’s a nice downtown location so that’s to be expected I guess. Also, the shower is kinda weird - it’s half of a glass door and half shower curtain and water gets everywhere. And then the TVs - so the remotes don’t work - you have to scan a QR code and use your phone - it really sucked - didn’t work well and was a pain to have to use my phone for it. Hated it! But I still had a great stay and would definitely return! …
This is our 2nd visit here this fall. Unique property in the way that it is an extremely old building on a nice Main St location. Thought that we would give it a 2nd try when going back through this area. We really feel that it just doesn’t warrant the prices being charged. It is a fairly standard room in a very old building. Only a 32” TV in the room that you cannot see over your feet in the bed. Linens in the bath are very thin. Towels definately need to be replaced. Lee at the front desk is helpful. A better choice than other hotels in Keene; however, next time we would go a little further over to the Holiday Inn Express in Brattleboro (NOT the one in Keene).
This is a beautiful place to stay and a great location. Within walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. A beautiful downtown for sure! The rooms have great views and are so comfortable. We will definitely be back.
Stayed here while dropping kids off at college. Nice clean hotel. My only complaints, and they are minor: no plastic cups or any type of drinking vessel in the room, surely due to COVID BUT there should be a sealed plastic cup in the room , and the elevator is PAINFULLY slow going down ( not up)! Now for the good: it’s clean, small, right in the middle of town in the middle of everything and there is a great restaurant right next door and you can order and take your order up to your room. I had a great view of Main Street from my room! I would stay here again for sure.
