This hotel has recently been taken over by new management and it TRULY shows! I had booked a night at a different hotel on Sept. 8th, and when there were problems with that reservation and they wanted to charge me DOUBLE what I was quoted for my reservation I cancelled that reservation and booked a stay at The Days Inn and Suites Downtown/University, I was immediately impressed with the attention to detail and level of customer service I was presented with upon arrival. I was checked in by a young man named Austin, whom I later found out was an assistant manager, and his courtesy, concise manner, and excellent customer service absolutely shined. I needed extra towels for the room and he provided them in a timely manner with a smile, which I greatly appreciated. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and I would definitely recommend them and plan on staying with them again in the future!!!

It got the job done - I slept and I was warm. Windows open which was great considering we are in a pandemic and there are no mask mandates in this town and no central air HIPPA filtration in the hotel. This would have been bad if we stayed in the original room they gave us which was right next to the garbage and sewer; rotten and nasty stink. Glad they changed our room! Cleanliness - not their thing? The floor hadn’t been vacuumed, dust was on all the surfaces; it made me question the cleanliness of everything if those basic things weren’t done. Tried to do a load of laundry - when laundry was “done”, they were sitting in a gallon of water; apparently the spin and drain aren’t working on the machine. Thing is they didn’t want to refund me for this - seriously! though, they did provide me a bag for my dripping wet clothes. The bed is taco style - meaning that once you lay down, the bed comes up around your sides; if you need a firm bed - this is not the place for you. And lastly, for the sake of not getting into too many details, they promote not having cable. I didn’t know that was a good thing - I kinda look forward to the cable! instead you have to use their choppy, slow network and sign into your own platforms to watch tv - so make sure you log off when you leave! The tv was signed into another person’s Amazon account when we used it.

Carpets were disgusting. Bed was on the verge of collapse. Furnishings are way outdated. Walls full of holes and cracks. Entryway blocked by McDonald’s drive through. 11 train horn, annoying. 0400 train horn. Aggravating. 0500 train horn, infuriating. Only positive was, front desk guy was very nice!

Nasty place. AC barely worked, dirty, no house cleaning while I was there for four days. Front desk usually empty, won’t answer the phone, etc. the only good thing was they are within walking distance of downtown.. I’ll never go back. Recommend you stay away!
