Just a blast. Difficult to find online, but what a gem! Beautifully situated, well maintained, spacious and quality everything. Heartwarming hosts, excellent service and excellent beds, regional foods & beverages.

Patrick and Monique run a small (4 rooms) chambre d'hôtes in their familiy own Chateau. We recommend you to join for their table d'hôte as well, cause they serve a delicious 4-course-meal plus home made apero and digestiv and nice wines.

We asked Monique to prepare us a picknick to take en route to Andorra and it was the most exclusive and delicious picknick ever.

We were a 40+ couple travelling with 2 friends from Ecuador (2 sisters >65years) and we were all very impressed. During our stay there was a Belgian couple visiting with their 24 year old daughter and they had a blast too. Because Chateau de la Hille offers some spaces for camping too one could easily host the whole familiy with the youngest generations camping and the oldest comfortably in the chateau.

In the near vicinity we were impressed by the Grotte du Mas-d'Azil and, just a couple of 100meters down the road, the Eglise de Raynaude et son calvaire. My first "Via crucis" (way of the 14 crosses) . Very impressive.

Because of their remote location within thick castle walls, contact by mail is the easiest.

All and all, especially with these prices, highly recommended!

We stayed here in this beautiful B&B and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The rooms were very comfortable, the surroundings are gorgeous and the owners, Monique and Patrick were extremely kind and helpful. We had fabulous home made aperitifs on the sunny back patio with them and they cooked us delicious meals and breakfasts.
I can't say enough good things about our stay!
Thank you Monique ad Patrick.

Patrick and Monique have done a great job converting the Chateau coachhouse into an elegant B&B. They are also excellent, relaxed and easy-going hosts, helpful and unassuming.

We arrived with few expectations after attempting and failing to get a hotel room in the nearby town of Foix. In the event we were delighted to find such a great alternative — and for about the same price.

We booked this chamber d'hote because of its historical associations with the wartime school for refugees. We were required to send a cheque for the full amount or IBAN transfer in order to book which I have not experienced elsewhere, particularly as it was the start of the season. We were told by the owner that the Chateau itself was private and no rooms can be booked there and we could not look around. The owners have obviously spend a great deal converting the coach-house, but equally obviously are unused to hotel management. The bread was stale/inedible for breakfast, the Jacuzzi not operating, we failed to get logged into the Wifi which is secured for some reason, the evening meal is not to be recommended, it seemed to be out of a tin rather than home cooking. We got served up the sweet the next day for breakfast! Overall very disappointing, despite the opulence of the converted carriage house, which seems primarily designed for functions. Not good value for money in this part of France.

This historic chateau turned B&B is located amidst rolling hills and pastures in the countryside outside of Toulouse as you travel toward the Pyrenees Mountains. The setting is very peaceful and quiet. It’s not easy to spot from the road, so watch for the signs. We stayed in the newly renovated carriage house which expanded the number of rooms available at the Chateau. The renovation retains the original charm—open beam ceilings and much of the original rock work and stone. We had two rooms; as we were two families with young children. The rooms were both very spacious. Ours had a queen bed downstairs and an upstairs with two twin beds for the kids. The bathrooms were very modern and clean. The styles of the rooms were simple, yet elegant. The owner, very gracious and friendly, welcomed children and made all of us feel at home. A delicious breakfast was served in a large meeting room downstairs in the morning. The location is perfect for exploring the area’s natural sites and small villages. There are many famous natural caves in the area and great hiking not far away in the Pyrenees Mountains. We look forward to returning to this gem in the countryside!

We walked two Caminos, plus 3 weeks vacation in southern France and stayed at more than 50 hotels, B&Bs in this region. Château de la Hille is definitely in top 3 of the best places we have stayed in southern France. The Chateau is beautifully restored, is full of history, our hosts are warm and helpful, and the home made meal is fantastic.

We stayed three nights in this historic and beautiful property. We loved our comfortable and well furnished room overlooking the garden, the pretty
grounds and interior of the chateau, and the convivial meals, but the highlights of our stay were the warmth of our hosts, Patrique and Monique. Patrique is the director of a small museum which displayed the castle's history as a refuge for hundreds of Jewish children during WWII. By a wonderful coincidence, the other guests during our stay included a young man whose grandparents had both survived the war at the castle. Patrique gave us a tour of the museum, and a few other residents of this very small town turned out to welcome him and us and show us the museum's collection of photographs, artifacts and oral histories of that time. Patrique and the other directors (none of whom are Jewish as far as we know) sponsor educational programs for school children and expressed that they have a mission to keep this history alive so it is never repeated. They are truly among the righteous..
But it wasn't all this serious ... Patrique also gave us a most enjoyable tour of the grounds and the potager (vegetable garden). lent us maps, and gave us information about hikes so we could enjoy this beautiful area.
Such wonderful hosts. The chateau was one of the highlights of our trip to the south of France. Our stay there has been warmly retold to our friends. A great experience.

Thanks thanks thanks. Your message reminds us of the great moments during your stay. The chance of the meetings allowed you to discover the history of our castle especially during the 2nd war, and this directly with descendants of young people concerned. The visit to the museum was very emotional on both sides. Our indications have allowed you to discover in a limited time the assets of our beautiful department and home-made products, and hope to welcome you again in a coming season. See you again !!
